My wife in the 2nd week of her 6th chemo session of carboplatin, paclitaxel and avastin. Most of the side effects are predictable and have been increasing in severity over the sessions. For the last few days she has been subject to very painful occasions of bloating and severe intestinal gas pain. Don't find these in any of the listings of side effects other than "abdominal pain".
Anyone know if this is a common side effect and what can be done about it.
Your father needs to follow his doctor's orders. Three yrs on these meds and so far no side effects I would not worry. As for side effect for long use? BP meds have to be taken long term otherwise the side effect " without" meds could be a stroke or heart attack.
As for the natural stuff, it depends how high your father's BP is, and what his doctor says.
I was wondering if any of these side effects could have to do with potassium (or other mineral) levels in my system? I've read conflicting posts (I generally on read "official" web sites rather than rely upon sometimes unreliable "patient only" forums) about potassium levels. One web site says to eat more potassium rich foods; another says to stay away from foods containing potassium.
I am wondering if you have checked your potassium levels. I am not a doc but its my understanding that low potassium can cause muscle and joint pains.
When I was having back issues, unrelated to hep c, the doc had me ice instead of using heat. I had been using heat and it made it feel temporarily better but it was actually causing swelling and making it worse. I started using gell freezer ice packs to ice for 20 minutes at a time.
I know some people have said there are no side effects from Cortef and that it's probably my dose is too low, but I now have at least 10 of the side effects listed on the prescription information website. These also all start within minutes of taking a dose (I'm currently taking 25mg). I get headaches, become extremely thirsty, heart pounding, very dizzy and weak, feel like I'm going to pass out.
I read about a trial where they were using Candesartin (Atacand) to prevent scar tissue from forming in the liver, as it's an angiotensin receptor blocker.
Atacand saved my life. I had heart failure, almost on the transplant list. I found a great doc at UCDavis (after firing one in Auburn who almost killed me), who put me on the Atacand. My heart is now normal!
So when I saw this trial I was really curious.
Thank you much for responding to my post, well I consume 120ml bottle of cough syrup in about 3 days, and yes I do want to quit both but do not see how is it possible......about any effects that I feel, i do not feel any side effects as of yet, but i know both these things are silent killers and must be doing something wrong in me somewhere...
Potassium from supplements can cause diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, mild gas and vomiting, although these side effects may be reduced when potassium is taken with meals. More serious side effects, although less common, include confusion, irregular heartbeat, numbness or tingling in hands, feet, or lips, shortness of breath, anxiety, tiredness or weakness. They can also cause more severe stomach pain, chest or throat pain (when swallowing).
One of the side effects of steroids can be low potassium and muscle cramping can be a symptom of that. The side effects of steroids are more readily seen when taken orally, however, I can attest to the fact that they do happen with injections also!
Try increasing both your fluid intake (dehydration can also cause muscle cramping) and potassium rich foods (bananas, potatoes, tomatoes, etc.) to see if this helps.
t take it any more, i just take my Prozac and that alone is not helping. Is this a common side affect? will it go away? why did it start after i had been taking the medicine for over a month with no problem?
