Hello , I am 43 year old and have high blood pressure i regularly take high BP medicines metropolol and Atacand 16 plus. I have taken all test and my heart seem ok and vessels are clear but my left chest pain just above the left breast does not go away. pain sometimes extend to left arm. also i have a left leg slight partial tightness feeling, Shortness of breath, Chest heaviness, fatigued, sleepy and irritable, Excessive daytime drowsiness, . Doctor says nothing is wrong!
197 lbs and have a good diet. Basically, I finally gave in to taking blood pressure medication (10mg lisinipril day), which of course brought me within the normal BP range. I still had all those weird anxiety symptoms from worrying about it for a good year or so. What I have done which has been helpful is to practice breathing techniques every day, stay active and exercise, not drink alcohol, stay away from googling symptoms, and I take sam-e 400mg once daily.
I already take Efexor XP 300mg daily, Alapam 30mg daily and medication for high blood pressure, Aldomet 500mg night and morning; Atacand 16mg daily, Dapatabs 30mg daily and 1800mg Caltrate following a bone density test, Somac 2 x 40mg tablets daily for Barrett's Disease and have a yearly endoscopy. Stress factors contribute to my general feeling of unwellness. I suffer with fibromyalgia and have arthritis in the spine and knees.

That echocardiogram was performed in a hospital. I had suffered it a stroke in November 2011 and the echocardiogram was taken while I was unconscious.

I'm sure this is probably nothing, but I've recently been referred to the hospital for tests due to high blood pressure. I think you should go back to your doctor and tell him that the medication you are taking is not agreeing with you. There are so many different kinds of high blood pressure medications that surely he can find one that agrees with you.
Also, did he tell you that you can control your blood pressure by diet and exercise?
There is no reason for you to feel this way when there are so many medicines for your problem.
I would personally look into the natural ways of doing this, at least research them, as medication for high blood pressure, as with so much medication, can have consequences that are as bad as the high blood pressure, such as pulmonary problems. Again, as always, we have to do our homework and then make a choice.
Keep a morning evening record of your blood pressure for a few days. If your blood pressure remains high after medication, then there are two possibilities. Either the medication is not suiting you. OR there is some underlying cause which needs to be eliminated.
I have a hx of migraines and recently dx'd with htn, for the past 2 weeks I have been experiencing pressure in the back of my neck, occipital area along with feeling light headed ."foolish whoozy" (I was told a few years ago that my MRI showed calcium deposits on the base of the brain). Sounds to me like you don't need blood pressure medication. I was put on it one time during a stressful time in my life. I resolved that and now I dont take anything. Have you tried not taking it and seeing what your BP does? Might be the wrong medication for you.
My blood pressure medication has just been increased to 160mg (do not know what it is called). My problem is that i play squash and by the third game i start getting dizzie-- i took my blood pressure after each game and it is as follows: 118/79 149 pulse, 121/107 149 pulse, 118/72 147 pulse, 108/71 pulse 147....
I also played soccer on the weekend and in the afternoon when lying down i kept getting dizzie when getting up.
I find that my blood pressure goes down and down when exercising...
I read about a trial where they were using Candesartin (Atacand) to prevent scar tissue from forming in the liver, as it's an angiotensin receptor blocker.

So when I saw this trial I was really curious.
A sudden drop in blood pressure due to medication can cause headaches for a few days while your body adjusts. If it persists, I would do as alleycat2 suggests, ask for a different brand.
