Common Questions and Answers about Astelin nose drops

astelin

Another is when I am not consistant with my meds like my advair and nose drops. I did talk to my doctor about my issues and she put me on Lexapro. I think it was for the best. I do however hate hate hate to take meds. I am not a very compliant patient! I have learned not to mess with my asthma meds and keep taking them on time. So far I am doing okay off and on. Yesterday I didn't do too well with breathing. Had to use my inhaler cause of the fires around here and how hot it was.
I am on Nasacort and I do take allergy shots b/c I do have allergies. I have tried Astelin but it seems to make my nose really really dry. I've been on allergy shots since 2005. when I lay down at night I sleep on my right side to keep my left turbinate from swelling up like a balloon and smothering me. Sometimes I can feel the bubbles pop in my nose when the turbinate swells...Has anyone had this problem...the popping noises when the turbinate swells???
J's Nose Drops works wonders for me and it even gets rid of any sinus infections that I may have. There is also another product called "Allermac" by Jernigan Nutraceuticals. Dr. David & Sara Jernigan's formulas work very well for me... they are even curing lyme disease without the use of antibiotics ! I recently purchased the Allermac and its working great.
i have a very very persistent sinus allergy. nose blocks all the time over a year now and getting worse! i have been prescribed all this **** and none of it seems to work. all i have is my nose that gets blocked so often that i have to breathe with mouth and also have a permanent sore throat. currently in indiana. I am ok during the day, when my throat momentarily clogs, the phlegm bubble pops and I am fine, but at night my brain is convinced I am drowing and all sorts of things apparently happen, namely I wake up with the fight or flight sensation, when this happens 4 or 5 times over a 20 minute period sleep, anxiety takes over and sleep is over, I can go days without sleep, then back back to the doctor for mor narcotics.
I have taken Amox, Levaquin, Avelox (antibiotics) Medrol Dosepak (steroids), Nasonex, Astepro (nose sprays), Mucinex-D and use NeilMed Nose Rinses which are the best thing I ever did. I strongly recommend it. You can buy it in any drugstore for about $12. It really helps. Today is a good day. I am only slightly clogged and in pain but some days I feel I should go to the emergency room just to get a diagnosis. It affects your whole life.
It's not real thick it's like spit. Iv'e been using nasal washes and of course all the therapys like flonase, astelin, and take many meds for lupus they all have been checked to see if they are ti\e culprit doc says no. It is a combination of Chinese herbs and it helps with inflammation in the sinuses, reduces phlegm, clears nasal passages and fights infections. J's Nose Drops -- sting like you know what, but they also work and get rid of sinus infections. I found out aobut these drops from a Naturopath physician. Homeopathic remedies for specific allergens.
The trouble I am having is, my chest is always tight, stinging pains both lungs, airway closes up, my throat swells up, my nose swells up, my throat fills with mucus, I clear my throat and constantly spit thick white mucus, sometimes brown. I cough a few times a day. My chest always feel tight, as if a rubber band is wrapped around my chest. I struggle to breathe, naturally I start to panic, which makes matters worse. My X-rays are always clear. CT scan of lungs clear.
They are pain and pressure in my cheekbones and face, drainage especially in my throat, occasional earaches, sneezing fits, tingling in the nose, some wooziness and even face numbness. The only "new" symptom is my left eye has a lot of watering and stickiness. Also, what can I expect with allergy testing? I've never been tested for allergies and don't know the first thing about the testing procedure.
no running nose, sneezing, coughing, itchy nose/eyes/throat, etc). The pressure is so bad that it presses back onto my brain, causing terrible lightheadedness, forgetfullness, and general mental impairment. I must emphasize that this pressure is ALWAYS there--I am becoming severly depressed and feel like I have run out of options. CT scan came back perfectly normal.
I have, over the last approximately 15-20 years suffered from swelling of the back of the tongue and the throat, and of the sinus cavities, perpetual unproductive cough, continual sinus drainage down the back of the throat and sometimes to the front of the nose, and overall fatigue and depression as a result. It has gotten so bad that I have had to give up the running and sports in which I used to participate. It is a hindrance to my overall quality of life.
I have never had a head injury. I don't have chronic sinus problems. The air passage through by nose and sinus cavaties is clear and not obstructed. However, I can not smell. I can not smell cologne, coffee, and I have even held a jar of Vicks salve under my nose and I smelled nothing. Except for texture and temperature, I can not taste the difference between chocolate ice cream and salsa. I would appreciate any suggestions that might help restore my sense of smell and taste. Thanks.
I usually think that it's a beginning of a cold or some kind of allergy, although the next day it's gone and all she's left with is a red nose. I don't think that she sneezes as much as you do, although there's been times I've kept her home from school and other times she went to a school with a box of tissues. To be honest with you...I'm obviously not a doctor but I think it might be some kind of allergy. Something must set it off.
I have ear pressure, pain, congestion and worst of all a bad smell which comes from my nose. It's so bad I can barely sit in a rome with people, people hold their nose around me especially when I speak. I had a CT scan it showed I had inferior hypertrophy on the right side of my maxillary sinus, sinusitis, and a mucus retention cyst on the right side. Finally, I had turbinate cautery to clear the turbinate hypertrophy it has helped I can breathe finally, yet the smell hasn't diminshed at all.
For the past almost 2 months I had a stuffy nose, no matter what i took, unless it was afrin which my doctor said to me recently that it was the worst thing i could have taken, was the only thing that cleared it up. So after about a month of this I took a mini flashlight and looked up my nose. I noticed what looked like a mass of dried mucus in my right nostril. No pain there it was just there blocking my ability to breathe normal.
I have taken hydrocodone before with dental problems and I know that after taking it I get the itch in the nose for about five minutes. I am convinced that this is a cure and that the Chlorpheniramine somehow bonds to the hydrocodone to be most affective. Problem is ofcourse that it is a narcotic and no doctor will give that on a daily bases for the rest of my life. Are there any other drugs that could possibly bond with the Chlorpheniramine and take it right to the nasal area?
SO sorry I missed the part that you were still currently there. You probably have really dry sinus cavities from the dust and enviroment. Do they sell Ocean( or any other salted water nasal spray) at the PX? Zertec can cause headaches and preasure(side effect) Can you get your hands on a cool mist humidifier? Also take eye breaks from the PC periodicly. Look at things at different lengths awayfrom you. Also bring your shoulders up to your ears afew times every hour.
Yrs. ago, I also went through this terrible problem & ETD is just the worst thing to dx/treat/fix. My case was unilateral w/ ear but bilateral w/ nasal prssr-hdprssr. I also went through several ENT's/Neurotologists scans & tests. Cause can be 1 or multi-problems. It's a rule out game. Hm-journal, like a sm- calendar bk is great since it's dated & can go back to see date of matching events/symptoms. Use abreviations. The ET's are in the back of the throat & connect to middle-ear.
Thankfully I do not suffer from depression or fatigue but my biggest problem is runny nose, almost constant runny nose so I blow my nose a lot. Mucous gets into my lungs and I have to cough up the mucous and spit. Has anyone tried wearing a mask? If pollen is causing our problems I am certainly willing to wear a mask around the house or when sleeping if it will help.
they begin after 30min-2hours, very dry and sticky eyes, dry nose, nose almost bleeding, dry and sore throath, sore bronciali, difficult to breath, flu-like symptoms, funny feeling in the head like brains were not working properly, difficult to concentrate, weird cough. After 2 to 3 days when not in these buildings symptoms completely gone. At first I thought it was mold which causes this. But I have been studying a lot about it and it is not mold. It is an air conditioning.
All I used to "blow" my nose was my garage air compressor. It's a trial and error thing. Start with a little pressure and build up carefully. It didn't work first try, but it worked on the only day of trying. I filled my air compressor partially and using the hose with a blower quick-release attachment on the hose (the button type used to cleaan the workbench from sawdust), I blew air into the ear-plugged side of my nose.
I would also suggest nasal irrigation--I think that is what I am doing at least--anyhow, I picked up saline nose spray (just saline, not any medicinal nose sprays) and have used this for about two days, and remarkably, the pressure is almost gone. Granted, I have gone one month with awful pain, pressure, headache, ear ache, facial numbness, neck pain and tightness and jaw soreness. My doc said allergies and sinus, but I thought he was nuts.
You may want to talk to your physician about septoplasty surgery and ask him if that would help. Also, before I had the surgery I used J's Nose Drops (available online) and that got rid of all of my sinus infections. There is also another product called "Bi Yan Pian" that works. It is also available online and very cheap.
This came as a surprise to me. I never felt I was allergic to dust or anything else because I didn't have a runny nose very often, but I can tell you honestly that now that I pay more attention to dust in in the home that it helps. I mean vacuuming, washing the bed linens more often, etc, replacing the pillow, etc. The allergist tried putting me on Astelin, Nasonex, and Advair.
Why do I have the constant smell of smoke in my nose. It used to be just an occasional thing, but lately it seems to be all the time. I am concerned that this is a symptom of something I don't know about. The smell is strong. I used to notice it about a half hour after taking my Allegra-D 12 hr. tablets, but now I smell it much more often. Am I going crazy or is there something to this I'm not aware of. Has anyone else experienced this? Please help?
i went to the drs on tuesday , he couldnt find anything wrong so gave me some antibiotics as i may have had a cold, i know the signs when i am getting a cold, (bloked nose, runny nose etc) now i also have GERD i have been taking the pills for 2 days and no improvement so now i have a dentist appointment tomorrow, is there anything i should be asking him, to help diagnose the problem, or rule out any problems, i have just over come shinggles, which my dr said it could of been caused due to stres
GET A NETI POT, its helped me and make sure you use not too hot but hot water to where it flushes your nose out and blow all the stuff out of your nose. Dont blow too hard but slowly because they congestion will come back. Good luck to all.
I'm not dizzy, running into things, and not feeling car sick anymore. I quit the Astelin antihistamine spray and the Rhinocort spray, because I felt it was making me worse and dizzy-er. I've been taking Bcomplex and Niacin and Vit. C. I run an air cleaner in my bedroom at all times. Went to see a chiropractor. Normally I wouldn't trust one, but he's a friend and has helped my husband with disk problems.
I can see some of it there but I've been suffering way too much and way too long to be treated with ear drops and nose sprays. I know I sound cynical at this point but I just don't know where to turn to next. I have no idea what i expect to hear from this rant but it sure feels good to know I'm not crazy! There really are other people going through similar problems and that I can see that chasing up the ear nose and throat problems may be the wrong direction.
