Astelin and flonase

Common Questions and Answers about Astelin and flonase

astelin

I think you are right, I have been off of the flonase for 4 days and although swelling in my face (moon shape) has decreased, my appetite has only slightly decreased. All and all I do feel much better with my reduction in medication and the swelling in my turbinates has significantly gone down too. I guess I'll have to try a little more self control.
Your symptoms maybe connected to hepatitis C but very much doubt it's connect to Astelin and Hepatitis C. Regardless, I can tell you that I experience nothing like what you are suggesting while taking Astelin.
I would be shocked that your allergist prescribed it in that time frame. Meda Pharmaceuticals, the maker of Astelin, has been in the process of fading out Astelin and replacing it with Astepro since around April of last year at the latest. An allergist that didn't know this would scare me. Ask one of your drs for Astepro or Patanase. Both are nasal antihistimines. Then look online for eiter product's website www.(astepro or patanase).com for money saving coupons/cards.
weather change, hormones, diet, smells on people, cleaning products, the list goes on and on. I have been on flonase and astelin since all of this started out of the blue last labor day. With the help of my allergist I have found that astelin 1 spray each nostril once a day works best for me along with Ocean nasal spray all day long (whenever I get stuffy) We found that I was on way to many meds, for my system, the flonase kept me congested all day everyday for the entire year.
It's not real thick it's like spit. Iv'e been using nasal washes and of course all the therapys like flonase, astelin, and take many meds for lupus they all have been checked to see if they are ti\e culprit doc says no. Is there any help for me out there who do I turn to now ? What type of Dr might have some advice. I'm struggeling to live right now I can't even go out it's so bad eating seems to also aggravate doesn't matter what it is.
I've taken flonase nasal spray and had some bouts of allergic rhinitis, but not recent. I've had two sinus surgerys in the past the first was to take some turbinet tissue off and the second was that another doctor found a cyst in my left maxi sinus. This has been very umpleasant. Anyone have any ideas. I'm thinking about going back to the ENT to see if anything has come back. And what is everyone ideas about allergy shots.
If your nose has cleared up from the nasal steroid (flonase) and antihistamine (allegra) but your nose is still running it could still be causing your sore throat. I'd go back and see my doc and ask for additional medicines like a nasal spray antihistamine like astelin or an anticholinergic like atrovent nasal spray. Wheezing and coughing could be an allergic condition of your lungs such as asthma, ask your doctor about that, to see if they hear wheezing when they listen to your lungs.
Everytime I turn my head I can feel the pressure affecting my eyes and ears. I went back and was prescribed the ear patch, flonaise and Astelin which don't seem to be working. Could balance or equilibrium problems be realated to sinus pressure build up?? Do you think ordering a glucose test would be benefical. Is this a tell tale sign of Menieres because I was under the impression that Menieres was more eposodic while my imbalance issue appears to be more chronic?
yes one was astelin and the other started with a F, but I had 2 bottles of each and ran out.
Have found LARGE doses of prednisone help greatly (methylprednisolone, less so), but also cause side effects. Am currently taking Astelin and Rynatan as a steady regimen and Flonase semi-regularly. I am at my wit's end....any other ideas?
I have started the protocal of flonase, astelin and another one can't remember name that suppose to help stop it.(atacand?) Anyhow they didn't work for me before surgery so I' don't know if they will now I have been using them for a week now and I see no differnce. All I want is to blow the snot out my nose. Help me please with any suggestions!!
I'm on Zyrtec, Singulair, Benadryl, Advair, Flonase, Astelin, Mucinex and STILL have drainage and chest/nasal congestion. Feeling rundown and tired and want to get over this. This is the second time I've been through somethine like this in 2011. Any advice would be appreciated.
I have been too scared of surgery so ENT gave me Alavert D12, and Flonase to take this has made me more dizzy. I am at my wits end, thinking I have some serious illness? I would like to know your status now and if you have had any resolvement?
The mucus feels like its just stuck in the back of my throat and makes me sick to my stomach. I was also prescribed astelin nasal spray and it helped some but I still get post nasal drip. Is there any other medication out there that would help? I did a little research and found atrovent but not sure if that works for post nasal drip.I'm desperate to feel normal again, I'm even considering moving out of texas. Can anyone help?
and has perscribed the Flonase and Astelin as a preliminary treatment. Since this has been ocurring off-and-on for several years, sometimes for days or weeks at a time... I'm just wondering if I'm barking up the wrong tree thinking that it may be the severe dust-mite reaction and continuous post-nasal drip that is causing this? So far, my medical practioners have been divided and non-commital. Many thanks!
I've taken both those medications in the past and never had any reaction. I don't think that's common and I would call your doctor. You maybe allergic to something in that medication.
I was just wondering if anyone else suffers from non-allergic rhintis. I think I have this. I get about 2 weeks every month, when my nose gets all stuffy. I get post nasal drip, my ears feel plugged and sometimes I get dizzy. I have seen an ENT, but she said I was "all better". I think stress is agrevating it again. I had allergy tests done- and everything was negative, so I know it is not allergies. I think it might be hormone/stress related.
After some CT scans, heart and blood pressure monitors, blood work, etc, they haven't found anything majorly wrong and determined it was a blocked eustacian tube and told me to take Claritin and Flonase nasal spray. I've been on that for 3 weeks and it's only partially helped. Now the dizziness/imbalance only bothers me when I am walking around alot or moving my head/neck alot. Don't feel like I'm going to pass out but it's still an unpleasant feeling.
neither has treatment with inhaled steroids (Flonase), inhaled antihistamine (Astelin), a leukotriene modulator (Singulair) and a proton inhibitor. A recent sinus scan showed a return of disease (ethmoids completely opaque), which I expect to worsen once the winter viruses set in. Surgery is no longer considered an option; if it gets to that point again, the only treatment will be a course of oral steroids, which provide only temporary relief.
Hydrocodone (which use to suppress the cough, but is no longer working...even at an increased dose), Astelin, Guaifenex G, Prednisone (again), and Protonix (even though GERD test are negative). I have a follow up appointment on Monday with the Pulmonologist and a allergy test with an Allergist (4th specialist in one week!), but am getting very discouraged and frustrated.
a life saver if you ask me), Singulair (really helps my allergies and asthma), Xopenex if needed and Astelin and Flonase for my nasal symptoms. I am on others, but I can't remember them right now! Oh, I take Zyrtec as well. Once the doc found the right combination, I did so much better in the asthma department, prior to that, I had horrible exacerbations and even wound up hospitalized frequently. It was horrible. Now, I rarely use my rescue nebulizer (Xopenex...cousin to Albuterol).
Added Astelin nasal spray and double Protonix dosage (10 days) Testing: Normal Chest XRAY Normal CT Scan Sinus Pending: Barium Swallow So, nothing is helping and the sensations are very troubling. IT is worth noting that I was diagnosed with Hashimotos Thyroidits about one year ago because of active anti thyroid antibodies.
Is convinced that my allergies are out of control. I take shots, Astelin, Zyrtec D, Clariten, Benedryl, Flonase... nothing is working... I am in allergy fog and no doubt feel sick allot as I catch everything my kids bring into the house. Last night in desperation I went to the drug store and purchased another OTC med. Chlortramine, or something like that... a 4 hour jobby. My head started cracklin open and I started breathing better! ISo, I am feeling more rested than usual this morning...
Every Spring for about the past 10 years, I have developed symptoms associated with seasonal allergies...congestion, sneezing, coughing, etc. Within a couple of weeks of developing symptoms, I invariably develop a sinus infection, and I spend my whole Spring in misery. It starts every March, ends sometime in June. An allergist performed a skin test about 4 years ago and it came back negative. He prescribed Flonase & Astelin for my symptoms, these medications have had little if any effect.
but I would check with your doctor for a thorough examination. I am on Flonase, a steroidal spray, Astelin, an antihistamine and saline flushes. I flush my sinuses to rid them of the mucous that accumulates in them. I also take allergy medications..Singulair and Claritin which has also helped. Again, I would see your doc about these problems so that you can get the right treatment and finally feel better!
Every one showed elevated eosinophils between 7.6% and 10%. I am currently taking Xyxal, Singulair, Flonase, Astelin, and Symbicort to try to manage my allergies/sinusitis and asthma. Is there anything that could connect these ailments together? I just don't understand how I can go from being completely healthy to having all these problems. I have looked into churg strauss syndrome. Do you think this could be what is going on?
I feel your pain; I went back to my primary doctor yesterday for this exact problem. I could handle the seasonal allergies but the dizziness, ear pressure and fatigue was making it impossible to do any thing. My allergist has me on ZertecD 2 times a day and a combination of two sprays mixed in the same bottle (Astelin & Rising) one is a steroid and the other is antihistamine.
I am disgisted that I don't respond to any of the normal protacal before or after the surgery. Flonase,Zyrtec, astelin, and atravent? the one thats suppose to dry up sinuses. Is there any hope for stuff to come out my nose again? I have Lupus and its been suggested it may be a autoimmune problem (the excess mucus) but this nothing coming out my nose is weird it can't be right. What could be going on.
I have been taking Flonase and Singulair for over a year. Recently, I was put on Allegra D and I just finished my antibiotic (doxycycline) prescription. I have dogs, but my allergies seem to worsen at work or when I do heavy cleaning and dusting. (I have had dogs for the past 11 years with no problems) I use a vaporizor/humidifier. I keep a clean house. I use a HEPA fan at work and home. I guess I'm just frustrated. I can't make plans in any season without worrying about getting sick.
I also take antihistamines and Singulair to help with this along with nasal sprays (Astelin and Flonase) I also agree that if the course of antibiotics isn't long enough, the infection just keeps roaring back so make sure that the course is at least 2 weeks.
