Avatar n tn The common risk factors for non union of humerus fracture are open fracture, highly comminuted fracture pattern, significant displacement of the fracture fragments, smoking, diabetes, NSAID’s, infection and hypothyroidism. In your case, smoking could have aided in non union of the fracture, but there is a need to rule out other causes as well. Any surgery the previous one you got done or the revision surgery your doctor has advised requires that you quit smoking for it to heal.
780647 tn?1304020942 I also see that a physician prescribed Arthrotec for you. Arthrotec is used to treat osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis in people at high risk for developing stomach or intestinal ulcers. Both conditions can be extremely painful which explains the symptoms you are experiencing. Have you began the medication yet? It may take some time before you see the benefits. Some times NSAID's need to "build up" in your system before they are truly effective.
Avatar f tn I am going to see a specialist. My family doctor put me on arthrotec 75 mg. which does help with the pain. I can now move my arms without horrible pain. I am supposed to take it twice a day but it is unbelievable the cost of this stuff. Is that something they use for Fibro ? Any of this type medication has bad side effects.
438478 tn?1204582889 I am a 56yr. old female. The only med I've taken for years is to regulate thyroid. I just received the lab report from my recent doc visit. Four of my numbers are out of range and I want to know what they might indicate. I knew I wasn't feeling well, but was thinking I needed a cardiologist because of the blood pressure or maybe my thyroid was off. Arthritis pain has been an issue. Now, I'm worried about the possiblity of Diabetes. Which direction should earn my greatest concern...
Avatar f tn I cannot sleep longer than for 2 hours. I was given Tramadol and Arthrotec for the pain. I now take Arthrotec and paracetamol after suffering a vomiting fit. I am tired of waiting to receive an appointment to see the hospital neurosurgeon to whom I was referred. I was told to get an ambulance back to hospital immediately if I became incontinent or numb in that area. What does '...
393986 tn?1303825975 s group is crazy active, (like it is here) I did start a drug called Arthrotec and it ended up me being in the hospital with a GI bleed, go figure, finally find a combination that seemed to be working good... Grrr... I've been off treatment completely for about a month now and I am back in a flare... I'm going to have to start doing the injections, and I am a big chicken-s**t!!! But anyway, gotta go for now!!! I Miss You All!!!
Avatar m tn ll take more injections with more caution. Interesting though that the anti-inflammatory arthrotec and 25 mg nortriptyline seemed to do the job before the injections!
Avatar f tn I'm with Cindee on this one, firstly what type of Dr. dx you? People can have more than one type of arthritis at the same time, if you haven't already you need to see a Rheumatologist and get all new labs done. I take Enbrel for my disease ( AS), my last rheumy gave me a RX for Lyrica which I did not even bother filling, not interested in gaining weight thank you! If you've been on Mobic for a long time it is entirely possible your body is no longer responding to it.
Avatar m tn i am on very high doses of morphine, oramorph, tramadol, dihydrocodeine, baclofen, arthrotec & some paracetamol for a bad back. I also have osteoporosis & take calcium tablets for this too. This has gone on for 5 years since i fell off the back of my old works truck. Oh & 2 lots of pills for high blood pressure.
Avatar f tn Have you asked your Dr. abt. Arthrotec ? It is supposed to help out alot for people who can't take regular nsaids. The Imodium has something in it that is suposed to help with the receptors in the stomach. It will help with the diareah too. If you have muscle rub then go for that, I use Voltaren gel alot for my arthritis. It does seem to help. Doesn't smell bad either. Epsom salts in the hot/warm bath water, soak awhile. Heating pads are wonderful too.
Avatar f tn I was on Arthrotec and Mefenamic (at different times) and both really did a number on my stomach. Now I'm on iv morphine. From what I can remember also, when I took Codeine a long time ago, I would also get a lot of stomach pain or chest pain and get really hot in the face. Weird it don't happen with morphine. I guess my post wasn't much help. Sorry. But just check about the aspirin.
Avatar m tn I have taken ibuprofen which does not help. the doctor gave me arthrotec and i have taken it for three days. it didnt help tonight. i am taking a pain killer but i hate taking them. Please is there any relief in site? Peter This discussion is related to Weird Calf Cramps + hip and knee pain.
1232362 tn?1333135406 ve tried prescription strength naproxen (600 mg) and arthrotec(yuck-stomach pain!!) neither of which help at all. Also lidoderm patches, bed buddy, ice, nothing helps. (not all of that at one time.
Avatar f tn I ran out of Arthrotec last week, which I take for joint pain/swelling, and discovered yesterday that I had one pill left...so I took it, because I had a lot of writing to do for a final exam and didn't want my hands to be killing me all the while...and when I got back from the exam, I noticed that it was even harder to breathe and swallow than it normally is, I had turned very yellow (especially my face and feet), and I had a light-red rash on my arms, chest, and upper thighs.
1305522 tn?1273170802 Hi Scotty: I'm sorry to hear of your pain. As far as other meds, I use a drug called Arthrotec. Info for this drug : http://www.drugs.com/pdr/arthrotec.html. I have no idea if this will help you. I use it for neck and hand pain. Works very well for me. If helps my sister with the same issues. It's basically an NSAID for those of us with ulcers. I have no way of knowing if it would help you. But it doesn't affect you in the same way that Vicodin does.
Avatar m tn I'm on very high dose of morphine tablets plus dihydrocodeine, zydol, baclofen, arthrotec, paracetamol & oramorph solutiion for my back pain. I have taken this for 5 years & now doctors are saying I need to cut down. They said to stop taking 1 x 60mg morphine tablet which i've done 5 days sgo but itls hell. My wife has found a detox place to get me off everything in 5 days. Would this be a good idea as i'm still in a lot of pain with my back. Hope to hear any suggestions.

Avatar f tn I was perscribed recently arthrotec 75 a antinflamitory. This does relief some of my stiffness, unfortnatly not all the pain. The doctors in my town will not percribe pain medications. I don't know what I can do. I can't seem to get proper help. Anyone whom wants to help email me at ***@**** .
Avatar m tn My story is that in Decemeber 2010 I took Arthrotec (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory) for tennis elbow. I began to get hives within the first 8 hours of taking it. Long story short it has been dominating my life ever since, making me allergic to 70 per-cent of the food I used to eat, as well as to Ibuprophen and ASA. I eventually came to the conclusion that it was Candida and went on that diet and eventually took a naturopathic cleanse which made the hives ten times worse.
Avatar n tn I have not had any kidney problems, he is just trying for me NOT to have problems associated with anti-inflammatories.
Avatar m tn The pain gets less sometimes and sometimes eases after eating but rarely goes away completely. I have tried rest, nsaids, including advil, arthrotec, mobicox, and also pariet and buscopam. I also tried a combination of tylenol #3 and nsaid's, nothing seems to work and I am lost for answers. It has been suggested to me a possible peptic ulcer by someone else online. The only thing I can think is could it be a disc issue causing radiating nerve pain? I do not have any back pain.
