Avatar n tn Is this Armour medication?
Avatar n tn I received an add the other day about armour thyroid. It can be gotten in canada, I don't use it but there is a web sight listed where you can order. Please PM me for more info.
499534 tn?1328704178 I am going to a new doc on 6/9, hoping she can fix me and my thyroid. Definately going to try Armour and get away from this Synthroid. It has been a downward spiral since I have been on it, along with the nodules that come and go. Is anyone floating in my aweful boat??
Avatar f tn My doctor who is an endocrinologist says he only gives armour to those who do not produce T4. Armour is from pig thyroid and because pigs need more constant levels of adrenaline, they have more T4 in their thyroid. The resulting higher levels of adrenaline in people tend to make people feel a bit better but is hard on a person's heart. Do not use Armour unless you do not make your own T4.
Avatar m tn s supposed to stimulate the thyroid to produce more thyroid hormones. TSH is counter-intuitive. When thyroid hormone levels are low, TSH rises and when thyroid hormone levels are high TSH decreases - in a perfect world. Is TSH the test that was performed? Was that the only test that was done? TSH should never be used as the sole criteria for prescribing and adjusting thyroid medication. If that's what your doctor is doing, s/he's going you a great disservice.
Avatar f tn T4 is a storage molecule which remains in your blood until your body calls for more thyroid the T4 is converted into T3. Your body ONLY uses the Free T3 hormone. So if your body ONLY uses the free T4 and ultimately ONLY the free T3 hormone, wouldn't it make sense to test of the ACTUAL hormones your body uses. TSH is a hormone that is produced by your pituitary gland that tells your thyroid gland to produce more or less thyroid hormone.
Avatar f tn i am currently taking 60mg of armour thyroid in the am and 60 mg of armour thyroid in the evening. I suffer from both chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. It seems that my thyroid symptoms fluctuate frequently. Most recently I experienced a small weight gain, hair loss (mild), lighter periods, greater fatigue and more aches and pains. The most recent labs are as follows: thyroid perioxidase antibodies 104 (<250 negative) free t-4. 1.4. (.8-1.8) TSH .008. (.4-4.5).
Avatar f tn s very hard for us in Sweden to get hold of armour thyroid or erfa from the States nor Canada. So I have to make my desicions wisely. When I took Armour Thyroid (The new Armour Thyroid) I felt "foggy" all the time and I lost hair rapidly. I quit the treatment and am now thinking about switching to either nature thyroid or Erfa. I don't know which one's better. Appreciate answers from every single person. Blessings from Sweden.
Avatar f tn Yes, you can take Armour sublingually. Your testing has been very inadequate. Total T3 is considered an obsolete test, pretty much a waste of money. Your FT4 (the only one you've had) on 3/16 was excellent, just a little over midrange. Your doctor should be testing FT3, FT4 and TSH every time you have blood drawn. Your latest FT3 on 8/29 was just about at midrange.
1230197 tn?1365007794 I, like many others, am changing Dr's. The Dr. that started me on 30mg of Armour is not responding to my questions. His office help is filled with young 19 yr olds that are giving out dosage advice over the phone. Not a nurse to be seen in the office. My regular Dr assured me that she can help with my thyroid situation but can't see me for another 2 months. Is it ok to stay on the starter dose (30mg) for 2.5 months?
168348 tn?1379357075 Mainstream medical doctors typically diagnose thyroid disease with a test that measures thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). If thyroid hormone levels are high (hyperthyroidism) and serum TSH is low, standard treatment involves drug therapy or surgery. Another treatment for hyperthyroidism, usually tried before surgery, is radioactive iodine thyroid ablation.
Avatar f tn He/She is one who willingly prescribes natural desiccated thyroid, uses the labs free T3 and free T4, and is willing to let you dose by the elimination of symptoms rather than the inadequate TSH." Avatar f tn It is a synthetic conversion with your thyroid medication and your body may be pushing hard to convert the T4 into the T3 Have your considered trying Armour as a natural hormone replacement for thyroid? You may benefit greatly from the T1 T2 T3 and T4 already built in.
535882 tn?1396576685 You were NOT on Acella NP Thyroid when you felt thyroid symptoms, but you were on Armour during that time? Note for all reading this: It is import to look at the pills themselves when getting natural thyroid from Target or Walgreens, as some stores will call both "thyroid".
Avatar m tn Hi. I'm a 23 year old male, very healthy workout very frequently, actually a personal trainer. I got diagnosed with hyothyroidism and have been taking synthroid 75 for about 7 weeks now. I complained to my endo that I don't feel any better. Still feeling exhausted, really wanting to go on armour, from all the great things I've heard. She instead gives me Liothyronine (t3) but only at 5mcg. Is that enough? I feel like she just gave it to me to shut me up.
Avatar m tn You might ask her to order thyroid antibodies. TPOab (thyroid peroxidase antibodies) and TGab (thyroglobulin antibodies) are the markers for Hashi's, and TSI (thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin) is the marker for Graves'. If you test those three, you'll have a much better idea what's going on. Stress can impact our dosage of meds. The U/S is a good idea. Next time around, ask her to order FREE T3 instead of total T3.
4121079 tn?1400268794 t think I was allergic to it, well I am allergic to something never in my life had I been allergic for anything to make me have rash or hives, this web page I found really answered my thoughts and questions, Even if you have hypo or hyper, you can experience hives or rashes before any treatment, I do remember 2 years ago that I had a hive break out on my face after taking a shower, I had not changed my soaps or anything, never been allergic to anything before, so this really helps, I am going to
738890 tn?1232214279 My TSH has almost doubled since last year from 1.79 to 3.29. My other numbers - T4 (6), T3 uptake (34), free T4 (2) - are relatively stable. Should I be concerned? I'm exhausted - stressed and depressed. My GP says my numbers are normal. A few years back I suffered a thyrotoxicosis that left me slightly hypothyroid. 30/mg Armour thyroid/day had me feeling better. I've read that TSH over 2 is now considered indication of hypothyroidism. Is this true?
Avatar f tn I have one right now, but would like to find another for a "second opinion" on what my current endo is telling/prescribing me. Does anyone have a good recommendation? We have tried all different things with my meds for years now (currently on synthroid and cytomel) but I never feel GOOD anymore. My major complaints are weight gain, extreme fatigue, brain fog, lack of concentration, no motivation/drive/energy.
