Is it okay to take Xanax with with Advil? with a multi vitamin? with 5 HTP? (If not, how far apart should the meds be spaced out?) I think the Armour has to be spaced out with the multi vitamin but Im not sure about the others...
Avatar n tn I have no idea if the doctor read my list of meds or not. But I do not want to take this if there is going to be an interaction. I also take thyroid meds-- armour and have endometriosis so I will take Advil and Tylenol for the pain from endo. I also have Nasonex and Allegra for allergies. If anyone knows how these drugs will interact with one another please let me know. Also I had depakote but it made me feel like a zombie will Topamax do the same since it is also an anticonvulsant?
Avatar f tn I am in the waiting process for blood work, having had my Armour changed from 135 mg to 120 to 90 and to 75 and still not feeling the best. Some heart palpitations, but not as often as with the higher dosage, but not feeling myself that much. Anyway, I think I may have a sinus infection - lots of sinus drainage and feeling really down. But with the thyroid problem, it is hard to tell what is from what these days.
393685 tn?1425812522 joint pain and moody. Started Armour 11-06 - have some relief. Developed acid and bloating for a year. Very uncomfortable. Is there a solid connection to hypothyroid and acid/GI disorders? I can not find anything to put them together - but never had this been an issue for me prior. Also drug interactions - Acid meds and thyroid - also Xanax. Is there a balance? Could mixing these up be the culpruit? I am trying to find a balance. Diet, exercise and stress relief. Any advice?
Avatar n tn No two people are alike when it comes to thyroid meds and how our bodies react to them. Some people do fine on one drug while others do not. You are also on a low dose which may or may not have any effect on you. The first thing you should do is make sure your doc runs a full thyroid blood work up on you including Free T4, Free T3, TSH, Reverse T3, and thyroid antibodies.
751197 tn?1270314156 Are any of the OTHER meds listed above known to cause thyroid issues or interactions with Armour Thyroid, including possibly impairing systemic absorption? QUESTION: Would grapefruit juice potentiate (increase) or block the effect of Armour Thyroid? Avoid it? RECENT LAB RESULTS: TSH 4.88 uIU/mL (Range = 0.450 - 4.500) - High Thyroxine (T4) 7.9 ug/dL (Range = 4.5 - 12.
Avatar f tn s best to separate thyroid medication from other meds by at least a couple hours or so, in order to let the thyroid med be better absorbed. Calcium and/or iron supplements should be separated by at least 4 hours from thyroid med. This is particularly important with the synthroid, which should be taken first thing in the morning, with a full cup of water, on an empty stomach, then nothing to eat/drink for at least 30-60 min.
219609 tn?1210348114 Welchol needs to be separated from the thyroid medication by 4 hours -- so take thyroid med in am and welchol w/ lunch and dinner -- this works well in most cases.
393685 tn?1425812522 I have read a few articles on interactions of Armour Thyroid and Xenical ( Alli (Orlistat) but nothing to my knowledge has been added as safety measures yet on that labeling of those two drugs together. I can't imagine it being much different though and it may be wise to consider the above information for you - even if you are an Armour thyroid patient. I haven't been too impressed with this product since it came out for weight loss.
Avatar f tn Thank you for chatting with me. I am taking 1/2 of .088 mgsynthroid and armour thyroid 15mg. I also take an antidepressant. What are your thoughts?
1018337 tn?1251567540 I have tried synthroid years ago and it didn't help at all, infact I was more tired, so I took myself off and haven't been on meds for years. I just started with a new GP and we spoke about armour thyroid meds, I have started, it has been about 1 1/2 weeks. Don't really feel a change yet. Wondering how other people feel about the armour and your experiences.
Avatar f tn Can I take "Nerve Tonic" for anxiety while taking Armour for Hypothyroidism? Nerve Tonic is Homeopathic.
Avatar n tn TSH will look slightly hyper, Free T4 should me at least mid normal range, and Free T3 should look mid normal to high normal range (some even go a little above the high normal range) Anything below these and you are not optimal. I am sorry to say that your doctor is leaving you hypo and feeling sick. My goodness even the new range of TSH .30-3.0 shows you hypo! Go find a thyroid specialist so you can get to feeling better! Please do not settle for being left sick......
Avatar f tn Hi, Which one do you think is better, synthroid which is artificial hormone or armour thyroid which is bioidentical. Is anyone taking armour thyroid? Can anyone compare it's effect.
Avatar m tn s always best to separate other drugs from your thyroid medication by a few hours, as some may inhibit absorption of the thyroid med; call your pharmacy for information on drug interactions.
927140 tn?1244210051 I do not have a thyroid n I take armour thyroid medicine. I weigh too much and wasn't too lose weight. what can I take our do to help. Exercise does NOT work eating right does not work.
Avatar n tn Hard to have any suggestions without more info from you. What dosage of Armour Thyroid daily? What are these severe symptoms? Please post your thyroid test results and their reference ranges shown on the lab report.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Armour thyroid with satisfactory results. Unfortunately, I can't find a pharmacy that has it in stock. My M.D. has suggested that I begin taking Synthroid and I am scared that my symptoms may return. I am taking 90mg of Armour and my prescription is for 150mcg of Synthroid. If I have no choice and must change, how do you suggest I make the change.
Avatar f tn First - thyroid supplementation is for an underactive thyroid, bot an overactive thyroid. Both Armour Thyroid and levothyroxine are thyroid supplements - levothyroxine is T4, which is the form of hormone produced by the thyroid gland, and which is converted to the active T3 form. Armour Thyroid contains both T4 and T3. Some patients don't seem to convert T4 to T3 quite the way they should and this may explain why some feel better on Armour Thyroid.
Avatar f tn So you need to talk to the doctor about getting tested for Free T3, and make sure they do that every time you go in for tests. Also ask for an increase of the Armour to 60 mg daily. A good thyroid doctor will treat a hypothyroid patient clinically by testing and adjusting Free T4 and Free T3 as needed to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels. Symptom relief should be all important, not just test results.
Avatar f tn i was on natural thyroid from Thailand but heard armour thyroid formula change back to how they used to have it. i have been taking the armour for 3 months and i feel aweful. is anyone else having these issues or should i just switch back to the thailand one?
Avatar n tn Have you ever heard of the Armour Thyroid causing your pituitary glad to fair? My PA refuses to prescribe Armour and seems to think it is what's causing my TSH level to be extremely low(.03). But I think it's because I was taking 300 mcg of sythroid before my old PA put me back on 180mcg. I've been back on Armour for 2 months now and I feel 200% better than I ever did on the synthetic.
Avatar f tn I was on levothyroxin and did not do well. I had read so much about getting on armour thyroid that I was glad when the new doc ordered armour. Now I have been reading about the new formulation and am wondering if I would do better with getting my levels up if I switched to the ERFA? Will my levels ever get where they need to be if I stay on the Armour? there is so much to consider here. It sounds like you can easily have your RX changed to a different pharmacy that would provide the ERFA.
Avatar f tn Cut those Armour thyroid pills in half! Absolutely! As my good doctor says, "The most common starting dose for patients with hypothyroidism is Armour thyroid, 90 mg which is cut in half with a razor blade and half is ideally taken twice a day, 10 to 20 minutes after breakfast and dinner. If you have trouble remember taking them, then take the entire dose before breakfast. It is also ideal to chew the tablet before swallowing.
