393685 tn?1425812522 Natural thyroid is literally banned in Australia so I am only posting what I have researched. I have no knowledge of the actual effects as I am super dooper drug sensitive to T4 med so cant even consider a natural hormone. This is a subject that I would very much like to research more as it does intrigue and interest me but as I said my knowledge is not first hand as I have never taken it. Pig hearts and valves are used routinely here in Oz for heart patients and from what I have researched ...
Avatar f tn The ingredient is Thyroid Extract USP powder which is the same thyroid extract used in Armour Thyroid tablets. A compounding pharmacist makes up the prescription in store. I could see the powder through the clear capsule.
Avatar f tn Are you currently on both levothyroxine and Armour? What are your current thyroid levels? Be sure to include reference ranges, since these vary lab to lab and must come from your own report. Maybe you don't need all the T3 in the Armour.
393685 tn?1425812522 I finally found a pharmacy that makes compounded natural dessicated Thyroid medication that is supposedly like Armour Thyroid - they call it thyroid capsules. Still I miss Armour, it was much easier.
Avatar f tn I am pretty new to the hypothyroid condition (I have autoimmune Hashimotos) I have read non-stop about thryoid conditions and the drugs prescribed for it over the last 3 months. From what I have read T4 only does not often alleviate the symptoms and many people spend years with their symptoms regardless of the dosage they are taking. The drugs may produce "blood test results" that doctors like to see - but the symptoms are still there or become worse. I needed T3, and I knew it.
Avatar f tn d feel pretty exasperated, but the transitions from the drugs to Armour has always been a lot smoother as ea day passed. Some professionals feel that the consistency of dosage in Armour is a problem, and, in fact, I understand that it's been outlawed in Australia. My holistic dr just laughs and shakes his head when anyone brings up that point. I'm sort of in Shakespeare's camp: "Much Ado About Nothing"---if it was ever a legitimate problem, don't think it is now.
4939681 tn?1361299299 m starting Armour (compounded formula in Australia) next week. I have both hyper and hypo symptoms at the same time. I have constant tachycardia too. This should be fun.
607546 tn?1222299144 They did that in Australia...banned natural thyroid hormone but the compounding chemists here still make it up.So I dont think you have a problem there.
Avatar f tn OH MY YES please please read my other posts I had been on armour for almost a year and not feeling any better this last month I could not find my armour so I decided to try and find Nature Throid and I am on day 4 and oh my goodness I can already tell a difference and I am not the only one who noticed a difference in such a short amount of time.
Avatar f tn That's unfortunate that the Armour in Australia has had issues Deb. Is it true Armour off Forst Pharm? I don't know of anyone else produces Armour other then them. I know with Forest Pharmacuticals - the Armour processed is very strict in processing and the levels of hormones is distributed appropriately. I have had telephone conferences with reps from there and feel I am getting the most up to date information any consumer can get on their processing levels and medication information.
Avatar m tn I feel the same as you. I don't feel like doing anything (apathy), and feel really tired because of adrenal problems too. My hair is awful dry. I wish I hadn't had my thyroid removed. But here in Australia it's the way to treat hyperthyroidsm... how stupid. I refused 10 years ago but they convinced me 4yrs ago when hyperthyroidsm returned. I wish I had gone to a holistic doctor back then.

734073 tn?1278896325 Thank you for sharing your adult experience with me. How long ago did you make the switch from Synthroid to Armour? How are you feeling on the Armour compaired to Synthroid? My daughters "pin poking" sensations have seemed to disappear now. Maybe it was just an adjustment thing? She is much happier on the Armour. Acting like an energetic kid instead of a couch potato. Her steady weight gain has stopped, and she is more in control of her appetite with carb. cravings deminished.
Avatar f tn In December 2010 I began using Thyroid Plus -a thyroid support supplement with a bit of bovine thyroid in it. After about a week of taking it, I began to feel the hypo symptoms melting away. -I had more energy, I was sleeping better, and my joints and muscles no longer hurt. Also, the palpitations disappeared. That lasted about 6 weeks, and then the hypo symptoms came back and my thyroid started to enlarge. The I was started on the levothyroxine.
Avatar f tn My wife has been unable to find a good thyroid dr. In the Madison area. Her last endo who we had good luck with who added T3 along with T4 and made progress with retired. Replacement endo is TSH freak. Took my wife off T3 and she is feeling like crap! If you do find a good Dr in Madison area please private message me!!!! Even one that will prescribe Armour as maybe my wife would do well on that. I actually have a name for dean care. But that is outside my HMO.
Avatar n tn I too live in India and need Armour thyroid or equivalent natural dessicated thyroid. Please send me the information on how to buy it here in Delhi.
Avatar f tn I take armour, have goiter. I have taken thyroid meds for over 20 years. I went to bed with gray hair and woke with reddish/copper-ish color in hair along forehead and some on sides. Has anyone out there had such a thing from having thyroid problems..too much or too little activity in thyroid?
Avatar m tn And that many people are reporting that they do not feel as well. One woman said she changed from Armour to Nature Thyroid and she immediately felt better and stated taht others are reporting similar issues with Armour. I have noticed my wife has been having fatigue symptoms that are reminicent of when she was very Hypo. This despite her fairly recently having her Armour dosage increased (she is on 3 grains - 180 mgs per day split dose). So the rumor would fit what I have seen in my wife.
Avatar f tn I recently went to a natural path who is looking at my reverse T3 and i may have to change to a slow release form of treamtent pending results., I was interested to know in Australia what people have found when changing drugs and has there been any major benfits.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Levoxyl (levothyroxine) 125mcg for over 10 years and have gain almost 100 pounds. As I understand it, Armour is to be used in conjunction with the other thyroid meds and monitored closely, since it is a sythetic harmone replacement. However, weight gain is part of the game and I've been reading these boards. Dr. Lupo will tell you otherwise but I don't think the medical world knows or wants to put the two together.
Avatar f tn I recently was switched to armour thyroid due to my T3 being to low..I took 60mg for 1 month repeated bloodwork my T3 came up a little to 97 but now my TSH is 4.0 was 1.34. Just got increased to 90mg.. My question is I am still very tired and wondering how long this will take to get right dosage. I read alot on internet about armour but still skeptical since most patients are treated with synthetics.. Any thoughts on this?
