581310 tn?1253029550 ve had migraines for approx 50 years, and have taken Armour thyroid medication for over twenty years. The headaches are sort of like the thunder in the song: they come and they go-o. Never have figured out why, but have learned to deal with them. Once went three years without one.
Avatar m tn 150 armour thyroid, for over a year... been on armour for 4 years labs are still whacky free t4 .56 low free t3 3.26 High tsh 1.03 normal ? testosterone is low 1.24 Low 1.75-7.81 Estrogen total serum 119.4 which is high as the range for upper limit was 115.
Avatar f tn Thanks so much for your replies!! I've only been on the 90mg for 3 days now but started on 30 mg 3 weeks ago.
Avatar m tn 59 y.o. female been Hypothyroid for many years. Was prescribed Armour T., which helped for many years. Then was taken off because a doc said that it had "leached Calcium from my bones", resulting in my beyond beginning stages of osteoporosis. Synthroid did not work, Levothyroxin hasn't worked. Now here I am 5-6 yrs later & Endocrinologist did a sonogram two wks ago which revealed that I no longer have a Thyroid. That butterfly flew the coupe!
Avatar f tn Natural Dessicated Thyroid (NDT like Armour) has been used successfully for over 100 years and has a longer track record of success than Synthetics which have been invented more recently. NDT is a manufactured product and potency is controlled during this modern production of the medication. There actually have been more recalls for the synthetics due to production variation in potency than there have been for NDT. I have absolutely no problem with synthetics.
Avatar n tn t say how long you were on meds, they can take a long time for some symptoms to go away. And if you did this recently, Armour for the last few months does not work as well as it did for some people. If you cant find more, there is always compounding till more is available. But if Armour did nothing for you, why take a med that is out of stock so often? I personally would love to go back to T4 only, if it was not for the muscle and joint pain I get with it. Take care.
Avatar f tn I am feeling extremely exhaused, have nonrestorative sleep, pain and achiness in joints and muscles, moodiness, hormone fluctuations and irritability. I am 55 years of age and take lithium for bipolar disease and armour thyroid for hypothyroid. What does this extremely hight level indicate?
Avatar m tn Your FT4 is 10% of range, and the rule of thumb for FT4 is 50%. FT3 is 33% of range. The rule for FT3 is 50+%, and on Armour is sometimes more like 66+%. Do you still have lots of hypo symptoms?
Avatar f tn So I have been on Armour Thyroid for 13 years. My levels have always been in the normal range and we have never messed with my dosage. Well I started not feeling good a few years back and have just started seeing a new doctor who thinks it has to do with the re formulation of Armour. So he added cytomel 5mcg to my daily Armour medication and I started to feel better. We retested my levels and they were still In middle of the range and the doctor decided to add 5 mcg more of the cytomel.
Avatar f tn Hi. My doctor is away for the holidays, and I'm left with a question about a recent blood test. I have Hashimoto's and have been on 1.25 grain of Armour Thyroid for two years, and 1.5 grain for twenty years before that (yes, it seems the Hashimito's was getting better.) A recent blood test showed the following results: total T3: 309 (normal range 17-180) free T3: 4.4(normal range 2.0-4.4) TSH: .897(" " .450-4.50) free T4: 1.20 (" ".82-1.
Avatar f tn Hi Pattyisha. It's probably linked to Hashimoto's. There are over 300 possible symptoms! Here are my observations. 1.Thyroid Hormones do not address in any way the autoimmune part of Hashimoto's. Hashimoto's may lead to other A/I diseases. See #3 for more info*. 2 Lab results are not enough to go by for proper thyroid treatment. The tests they use are based on many hypothetical and theoretical models, that make them very unreliable!
Avatar f tn I am having difficulties finding treatment for my recent diagnosis of Hashimoto's. I have struggled for years with thyroid symptoms but because my TSH levels were and still are normal, it was never found. However my new doctor ran tests and here are my recent lab results: 1/21/10 Thyroglobulin Antibodies 63 Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies 35 Calcium 9 C reactive protein 1.23 T4 free 1.2 TSH 3rd gen 1.
Avatar m tn Well, I've been on increasing doses of Armour, then Thyroid USP. I had to switch providers and the new nurse practitioner refuses to prescribe natural or compounded meds. My TSH and T4 were recently checked. She refused to test T3. My TSH was .13 (.35 - 4.5) and T4 was .6 (.6 - 1.7). I'm currently taking 180 mg of Thyroid USP. Based on my TSH, she said I'm making too much thyroid and can either drop to 60 mg of Thyroid USP (but get if from someone else) or try Levothroxine.
Avatar f tn AR, I love it when you talk like that,,,,,,
Avatar n tn I have had Hashimoto's for about 8yrs. Each year my meds increase, now Levoxly 125mcg. Something has changed, I can not get a pound off. I have read that the meds themeselves cause the weight gain. Does anyone out there no of a natural way to keep my Hashimoto's in check. I am desperate! I am now conteplating getting the band. HELP! 581310 tn?1253029550 I am no natur-throid and have been for almost two weeks but I was on Armour for 9 months before swtiching to the natur-throid. Any advice would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn I've been trying Levoxyl for a month and I don't have any complaints. Well, one complaint. It's hard to swallow. I was on Synthroid for a couple of years. I can't honestly say I notice any difference. My advice is not to tinker around with Armour unless it is proven that you don't get along well with a drug like Levoxyl. Sme people cannot handle the extra T3 in Armour. For others, it is neccesary.
738890 tn?1232214279 My TSH has almost doubled since last year from 1.79 to 3.29. My other numbers - T4 (6), T3 uptake (34), free T4 (2) - are relatively stable. Should I be concerned? I'm exhausted - stressed and depressed. My GP says my numbers are normal. A few years back I suffered a thyrotoxicosis that left me slightly hypothyroid. 30/mg Armour thyroid/day had me feeling better. I've read that TSH over 2 is now considered indication of hypothyroidism. Is this true?
Avatar f tn Taking the meds will not cause your thyroid to deteriorate. It simply replaces the hormone your thyroid isn't making enough of. Most people use levothyroxine meds like Synthroid. Some people swear by Armour. I think it is a personal preference. Starting meds early in the course of the disease will prevent overt hypothyroidism with it's nasty health consequences. You may need dose increases periodically. It depends on how the Hashi's progresses with you.
999838 tn?1299103020 The tests for Hashi's is: Thyroglobulin antibodies and Thyroid Peroxidase (TpoAb). Good luck and keep us informed!
Avatar f tn I am currently on Armour Thyroid (180 mg.) I am still very tired, ringing in my ears, joint pain, red palms, low temperature, depressed, thinning hair, bottom of feet are orange/rusty. My thyroid tests always shows really high T3 and low to mid-range T4. I wondered if anyone out there is on more than 180 mg. of Armour. Also, how high can T3 be and still be safe....
