Avatar n tn m having a heart attack, I get winded even in the shower I have no sex drive and wake up tired. I had my TSH levels checked and they were 4.92, I have high blood pressure and was put on 20MG of Propranolol. I have cronic constipation and in order to have a movement I have to take something. I see on this forum that people are taking Armour what is that? I take 112 MG of Levoxill. I have to wait another three weeks before my doctor is avaliable to have my thyroid medication raised or lowered.
Avatar m tn From what I have read it seems that the Free T3 (not total T3) results should be in the high normal range and that if you take your Armour before your blood test it can falsely elevate your blood results. I have also read (even on Armour lit) that Armour dosing (with a doctor) should occur in the following way: start at 30mg and add 15mg every 2-3 weeks until optimal level is reached (blood values are good and symptoms are eleviated). If hyper symptoms start then back off the dose.
Avatar f tn I have an underactive Thyroid which is treated with Thyroxin. My blood pressure readings have increased over time and I wondered can Thyroxine tablets increase blood pressure?
Avatar f tn Hello, My armour thyroid medication was increased to 240mg from 180mg and I have been on this dosage for approximately 6 weeks. My latest blood test results were as follows: T3 4.6 (2.3-4.2) T4 1.3 (0.8-1.8) and TSH 0.03 (0.50-5.20) Over the last few years I have increased my thyroid dosage starting very low and now at the high end. I feel better each time I increase but never feeling like I can be at my optimal best.
Avatar f tn 1 vs. 14:1 T4:T3 ratio). In fact, when people take Armour their RT3 will usually be lower and their FT3 much higher most of the day. So I just give such patients Armour thyroid until/unless Armour does not seem to be effective at strong doses and they seem to still overconvert T4 to RT3. Again, one has to then reconsider whether their body may be right and they cannot tolerate strong thyroid effects for some other reason.
Avatar f tn 89 My symptoms (besides the horrible hives) are high blood pressure, anxiety and mood swings, fatigue, constipation, mild hair falling out, rapid heartbeat, dry skin. So I've got symptoms of both hypothyroidsim and hyperthyroidism. :( I take 180mg of Armour thyroid, and my doctor said to stay on the same dosage. Not sure what to do, but I've GOT to get rid of these hives, and am bothered by the side effects of the antihistamines that he told me to take.
Avatar f tn I asked for the change since Armour caused my blood pressure to go up to 160s-170s/78, my A1C increased from 6.3 to 6.8, and I had more incidents of afib. Since taking the new meds, my BP has gone down to 144/68. I sleep better and feel less jumpy. I still have brain fog. Blood work results received yesterday. Doctor now wants to change my compounded meds from Liothyronine/thyroxine 4/40mcg to 4/50mcg. I’m concerned about the increase in T4 since I presume I don’t convert well.
Avatar f tn t lose weight despite strict athletic diet), high blood pressure (I had been on meds for high blood pressure since my nodule was discovered but it was never linked), fatigue. I added on the advice of a naturopath T3. I began taking 20 mcg of T3 with the 3 grains of Armour and feeling great. My blood pressure dropped lower than it ever had before and I felt great in all levels. I had never seen my BP so low and I even went off my meds.
Avatar f tn New symptoms I have been having are high blood pressure, severe headaches in the morning and one episode of muscle cramping in my leg (which I have never had before). I will get back on Levothyroxine, but do you think high TSH is causing these symptoms??? I will ask my doctor, of course, but is it better to go gradually back to a normal TSH or try to start with higher dose and get it down right away? Thank you very much.
1455892 tn?1285349618 So watch what you eat and when you eat , and when you take your thyroid meds. I changed from levoxly to Armour because I too was having tremmors in my stomach really weird feeling, plus my feet were roasting and sweating or one foot and leg would be real cold and the other normal and and then I was haveing jerking leg, at night my leg would just twitch big time, . And the list goes on.
Avatar n tn You have to ask yourself.. which is better, high blood pressure and cold hands or warm hands and low blood pressure. On the meds I had several bp events to 220/116 not worth it in my mind....
Avatar n tn I take Armour Thyroid, 90 mg. in the AM, and 30 mg in the PM. My last blood work on the thyroid was TSH 0.03, T3 Free 3.0, T4 Free 0.8. What should I do to get the TPO down? Should I change to Synthroid instead of Armour?
Avatar f tn I also have had pressure in the head or sometimes mine feels like my brain is swelling. I also usually have an incease in blood pressure when this happens too. I do feel it is all thyroid related.
Avatar f tn Blood pressure can fluctuate either way. Mine is sometimes very low, other times, high and I've just come through a slight hypo phase. We need to know what your actual thyroid hormone levels are, with reference ranges, in order to assess your situation and make any suggestions. You should be getting tested for TSH, Free T3 and Free T4. Your pulse rate is a bit high after the Armour; that would be the T3 in the med kicking in.
907968 tn?1292622204 All three of my doctors (cardiologist, endocrinologist, and GP) watched my blood levels and heart condition very closely when I first started on thyroid medications. I am also on Simvastatin (generic Zocor) 60 mg a day. I take that, along with some of my other cardiac meds an hour after taking my thyroid medications (Synthroid and Cytomel). I've never heard of having to wait two to four hours to take any cardiac meds after taking a thyroid med.
363243 tn?1331033850 You could then try the 50 mcg levo, with the beta blocker and see how that works (of course, that depends on your current heart rate and blood pressure). Retest after a few weeks to see where your levels are at, then go from there......... OR you could go back to the 25 mcg (or even split that into 12.5 mcg) and stay on it longer, then go back up at a slower rate to let your body get used to each new increase.
Avatar f tn I'm a 50 year old female; I've gained about 10 pounds over the past 6 months and watched my blood pressure rise too. I have had one three day period and one period that lasted part of a day (hours) – both very clotty. I have been on Armour Thyroid for about 10 years (diagnosed with Hypothyroid 15-20 years ago when my TSH was at 98.0 and very low T4 and T3 levels).
Avatar n tn I started on 2 grains, but had to cut back to 1 grain after blood test results. I recently had a TSH blood test and it came back as 25. What could be the problem? I was on Synthroid for several years and felt awful (really bad vertigo). Initially I felt great on Armour, now I am back to feeling crappy. I was losing weight, but now am starting to gain again. My doctor does not believe in Armour and I am afraid he will refuse to prescribe it anymore.
Avatar f tn 75 mcg of levothyroxine but after two weeks I had hyper symptoms such as, hand and leg tremors, fast heart rate, headache and high bloid pressure. I was put on 50 mcg of Synthroid and my current symptoms are night sweats, clicking and discomfort while swallowing, elevated heart rate between 78-112 throughout the day but mostly in the 90's, elevated blood pressure 132/74 and a low grade fever 99.3 that usually starts around noon and fluctuates between 99 - 99.
2033435 tn?1329943508 Armour 30 MG once a day at breakfast and Cytomel 5 MCG at lunch (totaling 1 grain Armour and 1 grain Cytomel in the afternoon = 30 MG Armour + 5 MCG Cytomel per day).
Avatar n tn 8, Thryoglobulin antibody 38.7 (High). Doc put me on 60 mg of Armour thyroid and increase every three months. I have taken 240 mg for 1 1/2 years. She did another blood test in Oct 2007. Results: TSH <0.004 (Low), T3 271 (High), T4 9.3, Thyroglobulin antibody 52.0 (High). She kept me on 240 mg Armour thyroid. (I had a hysterectomy in 13 years ago at age 29) I am just wondering if the shift in test results are a concern and what they mean.
Avatar f tn s, antibodies must mean something.......exactly what do they mean? Is my immune constantly fighting my thyroid and could the Armour play a part in that?
13586802 tn?1430668002 s, spikes in my blood pressure and an increased pulse rate. I went back to the Armour Thyroid each time after two days on the Synthroid. I know that elevated Free T3 and low TSH can also be dangerous, can lead to PAC's and atrial fib.. I'm really worried and would like your opinion re: the safety of Tirosint 75 mcg. Thank you.
Avatar f tn So I just give such patients Armour thyroid until/unless Armour does not seem to be effective at strong doses and they seem to still overconvert T4 to RT3. Again, one has to then reconsider whether their body may be right and they cannot tolerate strong thyroid effects for some other reason. To increase thyroid effect in someone on Armour who has a high RT3 or persisting symptoms, I'll first lower the Armour and add some T3 to see if that will produce optimal effect.
Avatar f tn Hi. My doctor is away for the holidays, and I'm left with a question about a recent blood test. I have Hashimoto's and have been on 1.25 grain of Armour Thyroid for two years, and 1.5 grain for twenty years before that (yes, it seems the Hashimito's was getting better.) A recent blood test showed the following results: total T3: 309 (normal range 17-180) free T3: 4.4(normal range 2.0-4.4) TSH: .897(" " .450-4.50) free T4: 1.20 (" ".82-1.
