Avatar f tn and cystic back acne from the synthroid (both my PCP and a dermatologist insisted the synthroid was not giving me acne, but within weeks of going off it and on to Armour the acne went completely away). I loved the Armour because my brain-fog went entirely away as did my back acne, however within a few months I started to feel incredibly fatigued and was exhausted constantly. I wasn't able to fall asleep at night and would lay away for hours.
Avatar m tn I switched from Armour in Jan of 2011 and since then I started having breakouts on my face. I've been to 3 dermatologist and some say rosacia, adult acne ect... I since then been ruling out stuff and no matter what I do it still in full force. I've been on antibotics - creams - retina - and nothing seems to be working. I never had issues with my skin prior to this and now I have dark brown spots all over my face because of it.
291885 tn?1404893207 I'm on Erfa thyroid and have been on both Armour and Erfa over the years going back to '05. I've been taking my pills sublingually (dissolving under tongue) for about 2 years now but over that time my Free T's have been dropping and my TSH has been rising. While there are some other things that could have contributed to that I'm trying to break it down one at a time and see if this particular change may have been what caused since my dose has remained steady since '05.

Avatar f tn I am at a loss as to why the doctor would switch you from Armour Thyroid to Synthroid. Using the appropriate conversion factor, your Armour dose was equivalent to 132 mcg of T4. Each grain of Armour contains 39 mcg of T4 and 9 mcg of T3. Multiply the 9 by 3 and add 39, which means that one grain of Armour is equal to 66 mcg of T4. So the 150 mcg of T4 is a slight increase, but may not do much at all if your body is not adequately converting T4 to T3.
Avatar f tn I am on 15 grams of Armour thyroid and the only side effect that I have had is a little bit of sweating..I am also in menopause so I am not sure if this is why I am sweating more or the Armour. No other side effects thus far. I was on synthroid and it nearly took all of my hair out. I hated it.I kept asking the doctor about it and he was saying that it was nothing they could do because synthroid was the best medication to take.
487969 tn?1249313291 LOL -- I was about a month ago, do ya think I could be getting the effects now? Also, I partied pretty hard on Saturday (80's concert - It was great), and thought maybe that could have done it. Oh, and I had to start taking my minocyclene again for Acne.
Avatar f tn Hello! I'm hoping someone can help me :) After being on a cytomel (10 mcg split throughout the day) plus armour 90 mcg or 1.5 grains my FT4 had tanked to the bottom of the range and even bit below while FT3 was above range. I had been on this combo for over two years never feeling great. In fact I had a very difficult time accepting the armour from the very beginning so we moved super slowly. I tended to get bloating and swelling and we titrated up slowly as a result.
Avatar n tn The medication contains T 1, 2, 3, 4, and calcitonin, all of which are produced by a healthy thyroid. It is not true that Armour is difficult to regulate or dirty. In fact, Armour batches have been recalled less frequently than their synthetic counterparts. This is not to say Armour is any better or worse; it is simply important to remember that different patients respond to different medications, and T4-only medications don't work for everyone.
Avatar f tn m overmedicated on armour thyroid and i am going through the same thing.
Avatar f tn 20 ulU/ml cortisol (am) 544 range171-536 nmol/L What do you think of these numbers? Is there a difference in Armour thyroid and Nature thyroid? Thanks for your help.
Avatar n tn A friend, who is a nurse with hyper, sent her a wonderful thyroid book. I was reading it and it talked about T3 therapy. I knew that Armour has both and thought there must be a correlation. My wife read it as well and thought there might be something to it. She faxed the chapter to her doc, and they ended up putting her back on Armour. She felt much better fairly early on. But she isn't back to where she was before.
Avatar f tn I'm feeling hopeless and am in desperate need of some advice and support. I've been diagnosed with Hashimoto's and been feeling terrible for years now...always tired, cold, thinning hair. I keep gaining weight and can't get it off. I also have cystic acne that leaves scars on my face when I go off antibiotics. I'm on levoxyl now (switched off synthroid).
Avatar f tn After long searching, I read that non treated hypothyroidism could lead to endless tendinitis, especially when T3 are needed. Because my doctor didn’t want to prescribe me Armour, I decided to buy Thyro-Gold, an OTC thyroid hormon. My PCP told me to change abruptly, the change was extremely painful, I developed migraines and depression and the tendinitis at the ankles came back. After 3 weeks of treatment, I’m feeling better but the tendinitis are still there.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone. I began taking Armour thyroid medication about a month ago. I am taking 1 grain twice per day. Some of my symptoms have improved: I noticed that a minor surgical scar from 9 months ago which wasn't healing, all of a sudden healed completely, some mild acne on my upper arms has vanished, and my temperature has come up a bit, but I haven't yet lost any weight. In fact, I think I have gained a couple of pounds. I am worried about this.
Avatar n tn Thanks for responding. I've tried to do my own research but am finding it really confusing. These are his blood results. He tested normal or slightly below but has all the symptoms and has had them for 3-4 years now. Whats Thyroid Storm? Could you please explain in detail the dangers of taking Thyroid Meds? I do want to share everything with my son. I'm scared. He now wants to try thyroid medication and of course at the age of 21 thinks he knows it all.... indestructable!
Avatar f tn To: Stella Stella, You seem very knowledgable and I was hoping you could help me though adjusting my armour. I have Grave's disease and no thyroid (RAI). I took 1.5 grains of armour 1X day for a year with no problems. Almost overnight, my TSH raised to 5.8 and my FT3 dropped to 2.3, FT4 .61 so I needed to raise my armour. Ever since this time, I have struggled.
Avatar m tn Did your MD do a Free T3 or Tgab Antibody, If you have these test results please post along with the reference ranges and the reference range that came with the Free T4, Total T3/T4 are mostly obsolete, When did your MD start you on Armour? The T3 in Armour should have made you feel a little better, but overall it could take a few weeks, Your muscle issues could be due to Vitamin D deficiency and low Magnesium, a common deficiency with thyroid sufferers.
1018337 tn?1251567540 I have tried synthroid years ago and it didn't help at all, infact I was more tired, so I took myself off and haven't been on meds for years. I just started with a new GP and we spoke about armour thyroid meds, I have started, it has been about 1 1/2 weeks. Don't really feel a change yet. Wondering how other people feel about the armour and your experiences.
