Aripiprazole bipolar

Common Questions and Answers about Aripiprazole bipolar

abilify

Avatar m tn I would try replacing the Aripiprazole (Abilify) and the Sertraline (Zoloft) by taking 25mg of 5-HTP 3x Daily for 1 week as anymore than this could induce Serotonin Syndrome. I would then recommend swapping the tablets out for a 5-HTP transdermal patch which will release a more even dose of 5-HTP throughout the day especially if you have BPD as otherwise the oral form could cause mania.
Avatar f tn Hi I have recently been diagnoised with bipolar disorder and given the medication ariprprisole and beta blockers. I cant tell you how edgy i feel. My doctor took me off prozac too. I cant relax or sit still and im still not sleeping. Can anyone give me any advice. Thanks.
Avatar m tn Was it for depression or bipolar or schizophrenia? Unfortunately, while those medications do often work well for the disorder, they do often have sexual side effects. Not for everyone but that doesn't matter since it happened to you. Have you talked to your doctor about it? You could talk to your psychiatrist that prescribed them or your primary care doctor both. I'm sure this is really frustrating. What's hard to understand here though is the drug is long gone from your system.
Avatar f tn I have just started taking Aripiprazole(Abilify) and have found it to have some beneficial effects on my mood. However I am also finding myself to be extremely drowsy. I have heard that this side effect wears off with time. Has anyone else experienced this? It's the first antipsychotic I've taken that's had any effect so I don't want to stop it but the fact I can literally go to sleep while standing up is making my life difficult.
918275 tn?1254068752 Although this case report adds to the literature on atypical results of atypical antipsychotics, caution needs to be used while interpreting the results, since aripiprazole is approved for the treatment of acute mania. Possible differences in response to aripiprazole in patients with bipolar affective disorder versus those with schizoaffective disorder need to be investigated. Furthermore, a drug screen was not performed to assure the patient’s denial of substance abuse""".
Avatar f tn My now 16yr-old son (7wks-premature) has been absolutely ANYTHING and EVERYTHING you could imagine. (ADHD), (ASPERGERS), (COGNITIVE IMPAIRED), and just recently ~ (BIPOLAR). I am a single mother and he is my only child. In the beginning he was on Risperdall. It worked awesome, but caused increased hunger and rapid weight gain. Fearing the worst (since obesity runs in my family) I agreed to try him on something new.

Avatar f tn I might be pregnant and my psychiatrist told me not to worry about the embryo. He told me that even while I'm taking 15 mg of Aripiprazole and 50 mg of Sertraline daily, there is no danger. I'm really worried. if I'm pregnant, would these doses harm my embryo being taken daily?
Avatar f tn What is the lethal dose of aripiprazole, quetiapine and lamotrigine? Mix of them.
Avatar f tn Hi I'm on 50mg of methadone and 10mg of aripiprazole and I'm wondering if I should keep taking the 2 together as it makes me mega drowsy and also is this combination a thing to worry av about can someone let me know please?

Avatar f tn Yes, I have lots. But lets start with ...you said she is on Latina? I assume you mean Latuda? And I hope you don't mean that. "Latuda is a medication known as an atypical antipsychotic that is used to treat symptoms of schizophrenia. The drug is also sometimes prescribed to treat depressive symptoms in bipolar disorder." It is not recommended for children unless they have bipolar depression or for adhd! What kind of a doctor prescribed this?
Avatar m tn Fluoxetine 40mg/day, Aripiprazole 2.5 mg/day. * Include a photo if relevant (skin condition for example): [Image 1](http://imgur.com/lIffDOF) , [Image 2] (http://imgur.com/eBoDCbc).
Avatar f tn Some psychiatrists still prescribe them with a mood stabilizer but the research is indicating they are causing rapid cycling in people with bipolar. Without a mood stabilizer they can flip you into hypomania or mania. But don't take my word. If you google antidepressants rapid cycling you'll find a whole host of articles. I hear of so many people still taking them and it is disheartening. Psychiatrists are just not keeping up with the research.
Avatar n tn I take Lamictal 200 for my bipolar 2 disorder and it helps a lot. 50mg is a really low dose.
Avatar f tn 2 anti psychotics, one is trifluoperazine and trihexyphenidyl hydrochloride combo and other one aripiprazole mt 5 and 1 mg of lorazepam for sleep. i want to see my pdoc but i am afraid he will give me ect as i saw some nurses in his room which i never seen in past 12 years. i am quite numb and can't respond to any kind of assault. it is really frustrating. since i am on anti psychotics, can i stop it by taking half for 15 days and then quarter for 15 days.
Avatar f tn I have been off my meds because i ran out of refills for 21 days now (i used to take 10mg aripiprazole, 80mg duloxotine, and bupropion HCL XL 300mg.) i dont know if that would effect my period but it’s worth a shot putting it out there. I feel as though something is really wrong but I cannot afford a doctor/emergency care because i have no insurance or income. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Does anyone know what’s happening with my body?
Avatar f tn Venlafaxine is used to treat general anxiety and abilify(aripiprazole) is used to treat depression. Good luck!!!!
Avatar f tn I've been taking medication for bipolar and anxiety for about 5 years. I'm still dealing with mood swings and changing doses on meds and that's okay. It's part of the course. My problem is that I'm stuck in the house most of the time and I really want to go out and get active again, but nobody seems to understand that I just can't move. My family is very supportive but they just don't have the time to hold my hand so I can get out.
Avatar f tn m moving backward through the list. Is your wife diagnosed with bipolar by any chance? Aripiprazole is an atypical antipsychotic. Promethazine is for treating allergies and does have a side effect of drowsiness. This is unlikely anything to do with her mental health treatment. But a doctor should know she takes this when prescribing other things. Buspirone and Trazadone together is questionable. Surprised by that if the same doctor prescribed both.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with medications for bipolar for twenty years now. Although everyone's bipolar is unique to them, I have bipolar I with psychotic features that only appear when I am medication free. I have been on a combo of lithium and geodon now for the good part of ten years, and a high dose of neurontin was added a while back to treat mania, anxiety and fibromyalgia.
Avatar m tn t last long but this time my left leg and it wont go away and another doctor (internists) who said that i should do a vitamin D lab test as it is definitely the reason but i am not really convinced and i am just exhausted and asking for help for my leg and back pain and i take a weak paracetamol two times daily and Benfotiamine 40 mg +Vitamin B6 60 mg + Vitamin B12 250mcg in one medicine two times daily and Gabapentin (100mg) two times daily and also i take mental related medicine (Aripiprazole
Avatar f tn First, let's look at the good news. Your MRI came out clear. That should ease your mind that there is nothing organically wrong with your brain. These other symptoms have me a bit stumped....but also concerned. You say you take Ativan and have since May of this year. Ativan should not cause the symptoms you're describing. The aripiprazole, (Abilify) is usally added as an adjunct to antidepressants, and some people exhibit a hypersensitivity to it.
