Arimidex to increase testosterone

Common Questions and Answers about Arimidex to increase testosterone

arimidex

Avatar n tn I have been on Arimidex for seven months and experienced an increase in libido, I am 72. The Oncologist checked for an increase in testosterone. Result: normal. The Doctor checked with an endocrinologist. The Arimidex is blocking the estrogen production and the body recognizes the testosterone more readily and reacts. Are there other women with this reaction?
Avatar m tn Similar circumstances. However before the prostate cancer I had a bilateral orchiectomy (Long story) so testosterone levels without androgel were near zero. After the cancer was removed I went a year plus having PSAs checked before going on Androgel. *Zero testosterone is horrible. Libido didn't come back or at best not very well. I take a small amount of Arimidex to reduce high estrogen levels which is something to check *I think.
Avatar f tn Libido in both men and women is related closely to the level of testosterone in the blood (yes women have testosterone produced largely by the adrenal glands and men have so-called female hormones in their system). Testosterone level in the blood can be increased by a number of medications (androgel applied to the skin of the stomach, shots in the buttocks, etc.) all of which require a doctor's prescription.
Avatar f tn 2 months on tamoxifen, then Onc switched me to Arimidex in Feb 2004. I have had increasing debilitating severe pain in left hip, left foot and both hands. DEXA scan showed increased bone density loss to that of a DEXA scan done before bc (ordered by gastro due to 30+ yrs of steroids). BC surgeon prescribed Fosamax and Calcichew/Vit.D3. A bone scan showed osteo arthritis in both hips, hands and feet. No meds prescribed. I am on weekly injections of 12.5 mg methotrexate for Crohn's.
Avatar m tn Total T, Free Testosterone, SHBG and Estradiol. Yes estrogen. If you have higher SHBG and/or higher estrogen it would be sucking all your Testosterone leaving little Free testosterone which is all your body uses and you will have low T symptoms. Not saying it is one or the other or both. But at your age you have the total T level of about a 70 year old man! And that is NOT anything close to "normal".
689860 tn?1238718032 from my experience, they are more in tune with diabetic needs, and not age related hormone modulation). What seems to work best to raise your hormone levels to where they need to be are WEEKLY injections of between .5 and 1 cc of testosterone. Be sure your doctor monitors your levels monthly including your estradiol (estrogen) levels. When your proper testosterone levels are achieved, continue to monitor your estradiol levels monthly for up to 6 months.
Avatar m tn I have Hypogonadism treated wth testosterone and arimidex. I do wonder if arimidex can trigger afib. I have OSA and wear CPAP at night......Also during my sleep study I had a couple central apneas too.....So I wonder if I rally have a mixed Sleep apnea. I am 34 years old.
107366 tn?1305680375 My bones have been effected by arthritis and then I found out I had Fibromyalgia ! My pain did increase when I started with the Arimidex and my doc put me on Tramadol, works most of the time for me . Really cold weather and damp do make it worse and I am now into thermal underwear lol ! I too feel like 90 when I wake too ! Not a good start to the day . I also do the shuffle to go to the loo in the mornings as my joints are all stiff .
Avatar n tn Does Arimidex have to actually kill you vs. maiming you for life, in order to be pulled off the market? At 58, I may need a hip replacement because I took Arimidex for two years! Avatar m tn t want to be dependent on a drug to be able to get an erection. I found another doc and I asked him to check my testosterone levels…it came back around 250, just like you. And again, just like you, the doctor told me i was normal. A 29 year old guy with 250 T normal? No chance. And then began my journey which I have been blogging about since. Currently, I am on a combination of 50mg Clomid nightly, .5 arimidex every morning and .5 cabergoline every 3 days.
Avatar n tn After feeling great for 1 day, the effects disappeared and I am back to the same drained and low-energy shell of a human. (I had this same experience when I was 33 when originally diagnosed with Low-T: felt great for a day and then I felt terrible again, which is why I originally stopped treatment). So my Endo increased the dosage to 10mg, and still no change in energy or mood.
Avatar f tn It is not known whether the cause for this is injury to the optic nerve or due to vascular effects especially that the drug is known to increase the formation of blood clots. Consult and opthalmologist as soon as possible.
Avatar n tn After a mastectomy in late Oct for early stage, low grade ductal cd my oncologist started me on Arimidex. It took me 3 months to figure out why I have severe shortness of breath and coughing. I stopped taking it and they want me to take Ferama. The surgeon decided because of family history to do the mast. I was less than a cm, no nodes, early stage. Now that I've read the side effects for Ferama and still feel like **** from the mast.
Avatar n tn I agree with most of what jayjay30 had to share. What I don't get, is why your urologist or endo haven't tested your estradiol, total estrogen's,and DHEA. These are equally important especially the ratios of total testosterone to total estrogen's(ideal range 80-120) and estradiol to free testosterone(less than1.0).Mac, your testosterone could be converting to estrogen and this aromatization may need to be curtailed.
1942878 tn?1324056800 I'm a fairly normal male that enjoys sex like anyone else, but I've always been a very non-aggressive person and my sex drive has been lower than the typical male and lower than my wife's. When we do have sex, after I finish, I have absolute no desire for a second round. That's how I feel physically, but I really do want to be one of those guys that wants to do it twice in a day or night, or have a higher urge throughout the week.
Avatar f tn 30am, at 12:30p I went to bed for a few hours. Long story, short....I've been feeling horrible since last Tuesday. No energy, very tired and shaky, MENTAL FOG, very emotional, I've cried at least one time everyday since. Even when I was diagnosed with BC i believe I cried only once. I feel I can't do this for 5 years. I tried 1/2 pill yesterday to see if there is any difference, I think there is.
Avatar m tn //www.webmd.com/men/features/can-you-boost-testosterone-naturally#1. If you look through that, you may then think back if you had an increase in any of these things or journal your daily habits to look for patterns. Being aware of what the symptoms of high testosterone are and noticing when you have them and then comparing that to your daily habits may be insightful. Far more men have low testosterone and the troubles that go with that.
Avatar n tn I learned that some weman experienced elevated blood pressure and blood clots while on Arimidex. And Arimidex is known to cause high blood pressure and blood clots. How do know for sure that Arimidex is the cause of my high blood pressure?
Avatar f tn re extremely low. I hate estrogen pills like arimidex and aromasin. Is cialis safe to take with Entecavir? I thought about adding Cialis but the headaches and flu like symptoms can be bad at times but it works every time.
Avatar n tn I'm sorry this is happening. You can have a reaction to anything. There's probably something in the formulation of the liquid that is giving you a reaction. There are other forms of testosterone you can take. There's a patch you can wear on your arm, or a mouth patch, and a gel you apply directly to your skin, usually on the arm. Talk to your doctor about your treatment options. Here's more info on them - https://www.webmd.
Avatar f tn After an average of 68 months, women on Arimidex had a 15-percent greater disease-free survival and a 25-percent longer time to disease recurrence than women on tamoxifen. The time it took for the cancer to spread to distant regions of the body was approximately 16-percent longer and the development of new cancers was reduced by more than 50 percent with Arimidex.
Avatar m tn There could be several reasons for this. A lack off testosterone could be a part of that. It is best to consult with a urologist. All the best.
