arimidex

So many of your symptoms sound like the normal menopausal or post-menopausal symptoms. The joint aches are the most common. I was on Arimedex for 6 years. Anti-breast cancer meds all have side effects & each women experiences them differently. Talk to your oncologist about your side-effects & if another hormonal treatment would be more tolerable.
After having chemotherapy, surgery and radiation I was put on Arimidex. Since that time I have suffered most of the side effects mentioned. I am concerned about the occurrence of carput tunnel with women taking this medication. My right hand has become painful and from day to day my bones ache. Getting out of bed in the morning it takes me a little time to become unstiff. Should I stay on Arimidex and possibly develop carpul tunnel.
Just started Arimidex and after reading about the facial hair I m getting a little freaked out. My dr said since I am post menopausal I should not experience hot flashes night sweats facial hair growth etc. I really did not experience any symptoms when I went through menopause so I am wondering what is in store for me. Did anyone try AlgiCal to help with the bone density issue?
In the early breast cancer clinical trial, the most common side effects seen with ARIMIDEX include hot flashes, joint symptoms (including arthritis and arthralgia), weakness, mood changes, pain, back pain, sore throat, nausea and vomiting, rash, depression, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, fractures, swelling of arms/legs, insomnia, and headache. Patients taking ARIMIDEX were less likely than those taking tamoxifen to stop treatment because of side effects.
I really don't know if she really had a stroke or is it mainly from the arimidex side effects. Doctors are mainly going by all her symptoms because the MRI could not be done.Is there anyone who experienced this and stoped the arimidex where the symtoms went away.
I have had lumpectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation. I have been taking Arimidex since 12/2007--about 6 weeks. Almost from the very beginning, I have been having a rash. The first rash started about 3 days after starting the medication and was on my neck and shoulders. When this rash cleared, I developed a rash on my eyelids. After taking the drug for about 4 weeks, I developed a small rash on my arm. This has now cleared.
Hi, I first started taking Arimidex for 3 years, then changed to Femara due to pain and aches in my bones and muscles. The side effects were much less aggravating with Femara, but it still caused fatigue, indigestion, muscle pain and weight gain. Finally my Surgeon told me to discontinue the drug and I did. In total I was taking these drugs for 4 years.I had absolutely no bad withdrawal symptoms, but quite the contrary,I started to feel much better just a few weeks later.
does arimidex lower the libido in mens ? how can counteracted ? thanks in advance.
Been on Arimidex 26 months. Having numbness in hands and feet. Oncologist doesn't think it's related to Arimidex. Anyone have this problem while on this drug?
Are hand tremors reported as a general side effect for the use of arimidex. I have mild tremors periodically in my left hand, not enough to bother me except that I want to know if they are fairly typcial. Thanks.
I was 3 1/2 years post lumpectomy on Arimidex when I had significant clots in the lungs. Thorough testing revealed no reason except possibly the Arimidex. I have been off Arimidex and on Warfarin for 6 mos. Should I a. continue on Warfarin and not go back on Arimidex, b. continue on Warfarin and go back on Arimidex, c. discontinue the Warfarin and the Arimidex. I feel quite well and have no symptoms. (But then I was symptom-free before the lung clots came on very quickly).
Most of the side-effects with Arimidex involve symptoms you would expect with menopause. There are reports of stiffness of the joints which may account for the clumsiness in the hands you describe. I am concerned with symptoms of falling as you may be in danger of trauma. Some patients experience sleepiness, this may increase the risk of falling. If you feel some headaches or dizziness prior to feeling the sense of instability – you may need to have this evaluated with a neurologic examination.
that way she could supply the information you seek. This isn't one of the symptoms that is listed as a side effect of Arimidex. It could be a result of one of the Chemo drugs as some have rather long lasting effects. Good Luck .....
Hi, Indeed aches and pain in the joints, legs and lower back are amongst the many side effect reported with Arimidex medication. Please discuss your symptoms with your Oncologist so a proper assessment can be made and suggestions to alleviate the discomfort. You could also ask the doctor the option of switching aromatase inhibitor therapy to one of the other agents, such as Exemestane (Aromasin), or Femara (Letrozole) to see if you would better tolerate these other drugs.
I started taking Arimidex a month ago and I have experienced some of the symptoms you mentioned. For example constipation, vision bluriness, disoriented, shortness of breath, hot flashes, heartburn arm pain, and joint stiffness. I'm concern because I have cataracts,WBC Esterase is abnormal ,Epithelial cell abnormality low-grade squamous lesion, mild dysplasia and human papillomavirus. I'm schedualed to see my medical onogologist next month so I will bring all this info with me.
I know that bone and arthritic like pain are normal while on Arimidex therapy. But I'm worried. My daughter read some where that it can take 6 months to a year for this go away. I use to VERY active but since my radiation ended I feel kinda lost. I want to be "me" again and this pain doesn't exactly help. My question is: Is this normal and how long does it take to go away?
Since I am post-menopausal, I'm considering changing over to Arimidex. Are there any reports on weight gain, vaginal discharge, hair loss, hot flashes and sore legs and feet? (I have all of those symptoms - and I blame them on Tamoxifen - and I feel it's affecting my quality of life). I have been on Tamoxifen since April 2001. Thanks.
Dear georgy97, Although generalized weakness and arthritis like pain can be an uncommon symptom of Arimidex, the severity of what you are experiencing would be really unexpected. If your symptoms were related to the Arimidex the further away from it the more improvement you should see in your symptoms. How long that that would take is hard to say - you'd want to be seeing progressive improvement.
At the moment there is no sign of recurrence. I have some symptoms from the arimidex, including arthritic pain, but I can live with them. Do the doctors feel I should continue on Arimidex although the five year period is up? My own oncologist has given me the choice of continuing with it or stopping it altogether. Thank you very much for your advice.
My friend has been taking Arimidex for two years and has all the usual side effects--hot flashes, muscle aches, lack of sleep but, in spite of all her exercising and walking and careful eating, all of the weight gain has been in her stomach and she is at a loss of what to do to lose it. Nothing seems to work and she's very unhappy with that particular location? Anyone else know of weight gain from the drug at that spot specifically?
the most common side effects seen with ARIMIDEX include hot flashes, joint symptoms, weakness, mood changes, pain, sore throat, nausea and vomiting, depression, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, swelling of arms/legs, and headache. Fractures (including fractures of the spine, hip, and wrist) occurred more frequently with ARIMIDEX than with tamoxifen (10% vs 7%). As for the burning...I,personally,have never been able to use anything but Ivory. Allergies.
I was dx with 2cm invasive ductal cancer Jan 2003 - had lumpectomy, then total axillary removal - 3 of 18 nodes cancerous. 6 x FEC, and 45 grays rads. I have been on Arimidex since Dec 2003 and now find I have severe pain in my left thigh, right elbow and hands. Could this be mets so soon? I had CT and bone scan April 2003 after surgeries but before chemo and no spread found.
Not only does this drug have horrible muscle and bone side effects, I have been experiening pain in my colon and cannot go to the bathroom. I also have a temperature this morning. It stands to reason that if it affects other muscles it likely could make the colon stiff and painful as well. I hate this stuff. Any data to confrim intestinal blockage, diverticulitis or IBS associated with Arimidex or aromatase inhibitors in general. Thank you.
Dear audrita, Increased cholesterol has been reported associated with Arimidex . Vitamin D deficiency has been found to be relatively common in women with breast cancer, however, is probably not caused by Arimidex. It is best to discuss these values with your doctor who can put them into context of your individual situation.
Is there any clinical published information about success with the use of Arimidex in a patient with advanced ovarian cancer? I had one clinical trial so called "Triplet Doublet" two years ago and, and in FEb of 2006, I finished 9 cycles of Gemzar and carboplatin. Disease appears stable now but CA 125 has risen slightly. I expect to be in treatment soon within a few months. MDs just started me on Airmidex.
I saw a Professor of Endocrinology in Feb 2008, referred by my bc surgeon, as this guy has an academic interest in side effects of Arimidex. He suggested I continue with Arimidex and Fosamax to prevent further bone loss, but I cannot stand the pain and disturbance to my sleep. Does anyone have any experience of stopping Arimidex and getting a different med that does not have the side effect of bone pain?
She has metastatic with bone issues (sorry I don't know if it's cancer), spinal tumors (4 of them), spleen and liver tumors and something of a spot near the lung but they're not 'concerned'. She has been on arimidex and zometa for a year and they've been great. She has had ZERO side effects and is so happy with her treatment.
I was stage 3B and grade 2-3 and Braca 1. Two things if this nasty beast rears its ugly face will I have symptoms leading up to the rise in my CA. 2nd I am trying to be on an estrogen blocker as it was estrogen positive, currently trying Arimidex as fumara gave me too much pain have you tried these drugs right after chemo and with any luck. We are also looking at it as preventive for breast cancer. I am 54 years old and doing well.
I am a 44 year old breast cancer survivor who has been in medical menopause for 3 years and is currently taking arimidex and receiving monthly lupron injections. It seems like since I've gone through all this that I am much more anxious, in general. The worse part is that I seem to have a low tolerance level for hearing something I don't want to hear, and I've become very impatient.
What are the benefits and risks of taking arimidex as adjuvant treatment for ER+ breast cancer tumors?
