arimidex

Avatar f tn Hi, I am also taking Arimidex (17 months) and although I don't have ,thankfully, all the side effects that Arimidex causes,I did gain weight mostly around my stomach area which is very frustrating.I regularly exercise and eat a balanced diet, but no matter what I do, it doesn't help!
Avatar n tn Hi there, Thank you for writing to us here, though I am sorry that you are struggling with side effects from the result of breast cancer medication. I am also a breast cancer survivor, however as I am triple negative, the hormonal drugs are not effective for me so unfortunately I cant speak from experience. However, that doesn't mean that I cant find out some interesting information for you in relation to libido and Arimidex.
Avatar m tn I have been told I am in the 2% range.. which to me is not worth the horrible side effects of Arimidex.
1030058 tn?1252253572 I have now nearly completed 5 years of Arimidex, My Oncologist ir recommending that in October I change to Femara secondary to a clinical trial which has concluded that I am at some risk of the cancer still recurring. I am unsure about this as the side effects of the arimidex hot flashes, weight gain etc causing me to be on a high dose of Effexor are quite debilitating at times. What are my risks if I choose to just stop the Arimidex and not continue with a change to Femara...
Avatar n tn Oh well I guess I have no other option. Any thoughts? How bad are your side effects and do they disappear eventually?
Avatar n tn Hi, I first started taking Arimidex for 3 years, then changed to Femara due to pain and aches in my bones and muscles. The side effects were much less aggravating with Femara, but it still caused fatigue, indigestion, muscle pain and weight gain. Finally my Surgeon told me to discontinue the drug and I did. In total I was taking these drugs for 4 years.I had absolutely no bad withdrawal symptoms, but quite the contrary,I started to feel much better just a few weeks later.
Avatar n tn I have had minimal obvious side effects, but some tough not so obvious side effects. It seems the longer I am on it, the side effects have been creeping in. I now have trigger thumb, hands are stiff. Had a bad fall in October, landing on my back and causing compression fractures in several vertebrae. I believe the anastrzole is complicating my recovery. Struggle with higher thought processes and memory issues. However, considering the alternatives.....the AI has not been so bad.
Avatar n tn Now Im wondering what can be expected? Do side effects go away immediately? Is there such thing as withdrawal where side effects get worse before better? Who has been through it and how are you doing? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Hi there. The CMF regimen is composed of Cyclophosphamide, Methotrexate, and 5-Flurouracil. The side effect of cyclophosphamide is mainly hematologic, which can cause decrease in white blood count levels, though this could be adequately addressed and managed by your oncologist. Cyclophosphamide also can induce amenorrhea and some problems in fertility during the treatment course. Methotrexate also has an effect on the white count.
Avatar n tn Shortly after I started the drug, I started having hot flashes and bad leg cramps. My doctor then prescribed Effexor for those side effects. I started at 37.5 mg and worked up to 75mg which I took for 5 years. A month ago he changed my prescription to 37.5 mg and said to stop once the medicine ran out. I took my last pill 3 days ago. I feel horrible. I have nausea, dizziness, a swoshing feeling when I turn my head from side to side and just feel bad overall. I have been cranky and moody.
1246883 tn?1285547973 Hi, welcome to the forum, seroquel is known to be associated with weight gain. There is significant weight gain is seen, in such cases usually other anti psychotics are prescribed. The weight gaining effect of this drug will not persist after discontinuation. Any associated condition should be looked for. If there is a change in voice (Voice becomes dusky), weight gain, intolerance to cold etc. You need to get your T3, t4 and TSH level checked as it may be in initial phase.
Avatar n tn Please inform me of side effects of Arimidex. Also confirm whether clinical tests proved that arimidex really prevent cancer from returning. Recently I had a lumpectomy. The cancer was confined to the lump in my breast and did not spread to the limph nodes. I had a serie of 30 radiation treatments. My bone density is deteriorating, thus I would like to know whether I have to take osteobond 70mg weekly. Will arimidex contribute to loss of bone density? Thank you very much. Susan.
Avatar m tn t believe you will see much hair growth. For further information on side effects from Arimidex the enclosed link is to an Arimidex Forum, check it: http://www.askapatient.com/viewrating.asp?drug=20541&name=arimidex Don't forget Arimidex is an Estrogen Inhibitor, that should give you a clue on what to expect. Take your time and read all you can from the enclosed forum link. Best regards.
Avatar f tn now have tendonitis in my thumb/wrist (this actually bothers me the most of all side effects-other than the weight gain) anyway, my oncologist also has me on a vacation right now-has been almost 3 weeks-my knees do feel somewhat better-although not back to normal-tendonitis is just the same-I am trying to work around it. The plan is to switch to Arimidex-not sure exactly when-he originally said 4 weeks, but since I still have the joint pain, maybe we'll wait a little bit longer.
Avatar n tn i. symptoms be a side effect of anastrozole (arimidex)? I have been taking it for 3 1/2 years, after 1 year on tamoxifen, following lumpectomy, chemo and radiation.
Avatar f tn But if one has had a mastectomy and chemotherapy, and there were zero nodes affected/involved, is there really any benefit to taking Tamoxifen? Right now the side effects are just making me downright cranky (and yes, I am on Effexor) and honestly the body changes courtesy of forced menopause are not helping the attitude any. Can cancer spread even if lymph nodes were negative?
1187071 tn?1279369698 It also makes me tired which I can handle that one but not the weight gain, I have had problems with my back in the past and when I put on weight my back hurts. I have nerve pain in my face and just pain in my face, what would be the other options I can talk to the dr about today? Would another pill from that line of pills be the same? I am going to talk to him about treatment of the other pain in my face if he don't want to then send me to a pain specialist that can treat all the pain.
Avatar m tn Armidex may not prolong his growth period much longer with such an advanced bone age, it is a medication used to block estrogen effect, also used in breast cancer, there are concerns with the liver but if monitored carefully most have few side effects. However with a bone age of 17 1/2 growth is near completion. I would work with the peds endocrinologist and talk with them to discuss your concerns, plan of care and monitoring.
Avatar n tn I was on Tamoxifen for 21 months until the shortness of breath I had reported to my oncologist at Labor Day turned out to be a severe case of pulmonary embolisms (and a week in the hospital) at New Year's. I was switched to Armidex in January 2005 and soam only a month away from 5 full years on one or the other of these medicines. I remember that most women are on Tamoxifen for five years; are there any such guidelines for Armidex or a combination of Tamoxifen/Armidex? Thank you.
Avatar f tn m not sure if it was just a mistake or if you intentionally made this a poll between Arimidex and its side effects, or breast cancer. If so, only your vote counts. You are the only one who can decide what is the best decision for you. I didn't see any question in your post, but if you do have one, we'd be glad to try to help.
Avatar f tn I didn't have any side effects except pregnancy, lol but some people may have them although not sure about the specific ones you asked about.
