What I found interesting, was that after looking at my favorite top 5, increase and decrease in libido was not even mentioned although they were quick to note side effects such as depression, vaginal dryness and legathy.
Even the official website for Arimidex itself and the "largest known site for the most comprehensive list of side effects" doesn't touch libido...at all.

However, women taking this medication tell a different story.
Shortly after I started the drug, I started having hot flashes and bad leg cramps. My doctor then prescribed Effexor for those side effects. I started at 37.5 mg and worked up to 75mg which I took for 5 years. A month ago he changed my prescription to 37.5 mg and said to stop once the medicine ran out. I took my last pill 3 days ago. I feel horrible. I have nausea, dizziness, a swoshing feeling when I turn my head from side to side and just feel bad overall. I have been cranky and moody.

Some women switch between the two drugs depending on the side effects they experience,often women will tolerate one better than the other.. but these two drugs are very similar and both can have similar side effects.
I am actually on Arimidex ( almost 2 years) and so far it hasn't been too bad.
I have heard of woman who felt better with Femara...so it really depends on how a person can tolerate one drug over the other.

m not sure if it was just a mistake or if you intentionally made this a poll between Arimidex and its side effects, or breast cancer. If so, only your vote counts. You are the only one who can decide what is the best decision for you.

Don't forget Arimidex is an Estrogen Inhibitor, that should give you a clue on what to expect.

It is of course her decision re whether lowering the risk in her case is worth enduring the side effects. If she does choose to take an AI and the side effects of Arimidex are intolerable, she could see if she would do better on a different one. However, in at least one recent study, Arimidex came out ahead of the others in preventing recurrence.

No personal experience here but after a drug is discontinued it takes various lengths of time for the side effects to subside. You should keep in mind that even though most of the drugs in that class have the same side effects BUT not everyone will experience them all OR to the same degree. Only the switch will tell you how Arimidex will affect you.
Armidex may not prolong his growth period much longer with such an advanced bone age, it is a medication used to block estrogen effect, also used in breast cancer, there are concerns with the liver but if monitored carefully most have few side effects. However with a bone age of 17 1/2 growth is near completion. I would work with the peds endocrinologist and talk with them to discuss your concerns, plan of care and monitoring.
Early results from this study indicate that Zometa in combination with endocrine therapy (goserelin plus tamoxifen or goserelin plus arimidex) lowers the 5-year risk for breast cancer recurrence by 36% compared to those women who were being given endocrine therapy alone. Zometa apparently not only prevented bone metastases, but metastases to other body parts as well. It also decreased recurrence risk in the unaffected breast.
I have had minimal obvious side effects, but some tough not so obvious side effects. It seems the longer I am on it, the side effects have been creeping in. I now have trigger thumb, hands are stiff. Had a bad fall in October, landing on my back and causing compression fractures in several vertebrae. I believe the anastrzole is complicating my recovery. Struggle with higher thought processes and memory issues.
However, considering the alternatives.....the AI has not been so bad.
Lupron, as I wrote in my previous post seems to have some negative side effects associated with it. One lasting one is thin bone density. But women are much more plagued by that than men. In fact, Precocious puberty is much more common in girls in general so a lot of what you read about it is geared toward girls. If you are wanting your child to grow more, prolonging full puberty could work for you. But yes, I'd expect some side effects. Hard decision.
the most common side effects seen with ARIMIDEX include hot flashes, joint symptoms, weakness, mood changes, pain, sore throat, nausea and vomiting, depression, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, swelling of arms/legs, and headache. Fractures (including fractures of the spine, hip, and wrist) occurred more frequently with ARIMIDEX than with tamoxifen (10% vs 7%).
As for the burning...I,personally,have never been able to use anything but Ivory. Allergies.
Since then I have had many of the typical side effects such as hand/joint pain, neuropathy in my hands, hot flashes, wakefulness at night etc. However, my sight in one eye has also begun to noticeably deteriorate. I know, because I had my eyes checked and a new eye prescription just before I started taking Arimidex. I saw my eye doctor again last week and my vision has deteriorated from 20/40 to 20/70 (with correction) in just a few months.
