arimidex

Avatar n tn insitu underwent lumpectomy left breast with lympnodes removed 1 positive, had 33 radiation treatment and am taking Arimidex.
Avatar f tn I don't know for sure if it will be better once we finish with this medication...They say that the bad symptoms will eventually disappear and I sure hope that the belly problem will follow suit .My surgeon is thinking of prescribing Arimidex for an additional 2 years for better protection :( So after a total of seven years on this medicine, I hope that I'll have the strength to even exercise on my treadmill.. LOL...
Avatar n tn On the contrary, Hypertension is an uncommon side effect of Arimidex, and the blood clot problems are also less with Arimidex compared to the other hormonal treatment, tamoxifen. The management of hypertension should proceed just like the management of the more common forms of hypertension. It will be very hard to ascertain if the hypertension is due to the arimidex without formally withdrawing the drug and observing your blood pressure.
Avatar f tn I have been out of work and my life disrupted for a month and am already loosing everything due to financial stress 6 more months of treatment with chemo and work disruption i fear will ruin me. What are my chances with just arimidex treatment? PET scan shows negative to any cancer anywhere else. I have lobular and ductal breast cancer .
Avatar n tn Hi - after I finished chemo and starting rads in 2003 I was prescribed tamoxifen, took it for 2 months and my Oncologist changed me to Arimidex (one of the aromatose inhibitors) which I think has a 50% better prognosis for non recurrence than the old "gold standard" tamoxifen. I was thrilled, as it had just come on to the market here in England. However, 4 yrs down the line, I stopped it 4 weeks ago, due to severe bone pain (hips, hands and feet) and the pain has gone!
Avatar n tn I would seem odd to have this type of reaction since you've been on Arimidex for over 2 years but I suppose anything is possible. Since the Oncologist thinks your symptoms may be caused by something other than the drug you might want to ck. with a Neurologist regarding this numbness OR perhaps an Internist, since this may even be a circulatory issue.Sounds like it's going to be a process of elimination in order to find the cause. Regards ....
Avatar n tn ) I also now occasionally consult a holistic MD (referred by my oncologist) for nutritional advice. I am thinking of adding a supplement with the arimidex (broccoli seed extract - a natural aromatase inhibitor) and monitoring estradiol/estrone with blood tests after starting the supplement. If there were a negative interaction between the arimidex and the broccoli seed extract, how accurate would the blood test's estrogen results be?
Avatar n tn I have been taking Arimidex for almost 2 years. Outside of hot-flashes, no other side-effects. About 3 weeks I got a rash or acne in a small area on my face. It now goes over my nose, on my upper lip and some on lower lip areas. Iam 57 and always had a good complection so I'm not sure if this is acne or a rash. Could this be caused by Arimidex?
Avatar f tn I saw a Professor of Endocrinology in Feb 2008, referred by my bc surgeon, as this guy has an academic interest in side effects of Arimidex. He suggested I continue with Arimidex and Fosamax to prevent further bone loss, but I cannot stand the pain and disturbance to my sleep. Does anyone have any experience of stopping Arimidex and getting a different med that does not have the side effect of bone pain?
Avatar n tn The fatigue comes shortly after I start a project. Because of the hot flashes I get little sleep some nights but does the arimidex also cause fatigue? Is a side effect of hercepton fatigue (taken in 09,,,,?
Avatar n tn Please inform me of side effects of Arimidex. Also confirm whether clinical tests proved that arimidex really prevent cancer from returning. Recently I had a lumpectomy. The cancer was confined to the lump in my breast and did not spread to the limph nodes. I had a serie of 30 radiation treatments. My bone density is deteriorating, thus I would like to know whether I have to take osteobond 70mg weekly. Will arimidex contribute to loss of bone density? Thank you very much. Susan.
Avatar n tn It is the hormone that is recommended for women with ER/PR positive breast cancer who are premenopausal or postmenopausal. Arimidex (or other aromatase inhibitors) is another class of hormone therapy that also blocks estrogen to breast tissue but these drugs are only offered to women who are postmenopausal. Both tamoxifen and armidex only address the ER/PR status and do not have any impact on CerbB2.
Avatar m tn There are very good antipsycotics to help ease the symptoms you have described. I have read a few posts where people have experienced your type of problems as well. Treatment for hepc is very very difficult for some and no two people are effected exactly the same. I hope in time you find a solution that benefits you long term.
1030058 tn?1252253572 Letrozole and anastrozole (Arimidex) are both aromatase inhibitors and are very similar to one another. In most of the adjuvant studies using these drugs, 5 years of treatment has been given. An ongoing study will compare 5 to 10 years of aromatase inhibitors but there are no results available yet on that study.
Avatar f tn I am a survivor and am really stating emphatically that you should get a second opinion and a direct line of treatment options that you can live with. Know and understand your options and what your choices mean. Be proactive in your treatment and research everything. Feel free to change doctors if you think you will get a better fit for yourself and your treatment. Best wishes and please let us know how you're doing. We'll be happy to help you through this.
Avatar f tn It works to keep the cancer at bay. 20% of the people with my type of cancer make it past 2 years and I am going on 7. Unfortunately the side effects are now too much witht he water retention. I have made myself exercise a min of 3 times a week and truly believe it has helped with the side effects up until now.
Avatar n tn The quality of life sub-study of the Arimidex, Tamoxifen, Alone or in Combination (ATAC) adjuvant breast cancer trial found that the incidence of vaginal dryness, dyspareunia, and loss of sexual interest in women taking AIs was significant.
Avatar m tn Triple medication treatment of Interferon, Ribavirin, and a Protease Inhibitor (either Teleprvir or Boceprevir) are now the standard of care for treatment of Genotype 1. The length of treatment depends on your past response to treatment. I am not sure in which country you live and if the new protease inhibitors are available where you live. If they are available then it would be important to discuss treating with the triple medication regimen with your doctor.
Avatar n tn Another hormonal treatment is Femara, but it has the same mechanism of action as arimidex and is most likely not to work. Your best option is to change chemotherapy regimen and Gemzar is a good option.

Avatar n tn The fatigue you describe is a side effect of Arimidex but the edema is certainly related to your Congestive Heart Failure. I would suggest that you discuss your present condition with your Oncologist as well as seeking treatment from your Cardiologist for the CHF. Regards ....
Avatar n tn I am 4 weeks post radiation and I too feel a bit tired. The headaches I get, are something like you describe..... not a real headache but like if I have a slight head cold or sinus pressure. Now,I don't know if this is solely because of the radiation because I'm also taking Arimidex which also causes a bit of a headache.Do you take any medication, like Arimidex or Tamoxifen?.Please let us know.Thank you.
