arimidex

Avatar n tn I think a lot of the weight is water. Only took the arimidex for a few days but in that little time gained about 5 pounds. femara was a little better but I went off it also. Going back on Tamoxifen, and I have a feeling it's the best drug for me anyway.
Avatar n tn On the contrary, Hypertension is an uncommon side effect of Arimidex, and the blood clot problems are also less with Arimidex compared to the other hormonal treatment, tamoxifen. The management of hypertension should proceed just like the management of the more common forms of hypertension. It will be very hard to ascertain if the hypertension is due to the arimidex without formally withdrawing the drug and observing your blood pressure.
Avatar m tn For more information regarding this drug and side effects you can check out the website chemocare.com. You can also look up the prior Here is the direct link to Arimidex on the site: http://www.chemocare.com/bio/arimidex.asp .
Avatar f tn CT shows reduction of the main tumor by about half, metastasis in liver (reduced a little), lungs, limfoid node in groin enlarged. What is the best way forward for me? Would be grateful for advise.
Avatar n tn m not looking to replace arimidex with the supplement, just use it to enhance the AI effect of arimidex (the supplement works in the liver, not in the adrenals like arimidex). In addition to the feedback from my oncologist, I would like more professional opinions as well. If my estradion/estrone blood tests remain low, can I trust that the estrogen results are accurate -- or could there still be an interaction between arimidex and the supplement that the blood test wouldn't show?
Avatar n tn If you will visit you can get a complete list of the side effects of Arimidex as well as all the Chemotherapy drugs in use today. Regards .....
Avatar f tn Has cancer reoccurred in patients while they have been on arimidex, not due to the drug, but due to the cancer. In other words, does taking arimidex prevent cancer from reoccurring while a patient is on it?
Avatar n tn Been on Arimidex 26 months. Having numbness in hands and feet. Oncologist doesn't think it's related to Arimidex. Anyone have this problem while on this drug?
Avatar f tn In the mood for reading? This page looks good: http://breast-cancer.ca/ultrahypo-echosolid/ ------------ Sonogram / Ultrasound scan, can find out if a nodule on a mammogram, is a solid nodule, or a cyst. Hypoechoic nodule or solid lesion in a breast Suppose an ultrasound report said there is a hypoechoic nodule, or a hypoechoic lesion in a breast, perhaps also saying it is solid. What do these words mean? Hypoechoic means it looks darker on ultrasound than the surrounding tissue.
Avatar n tn I saw my eye doctor again last week and my vision has deteriorated from 20/40 to 20/70 (with correction) in just a few months. Eye problems are not listed as a side effect of Arimidex in any of the information I have been given, but I am wondering if this could be a less common side effect. Is this something I should discuss with my oncologist?
Avatar m tn Armidex may not prolong his growth period much longer with such an advanced bone age, it is a medication used to block estrogen effect, also used in breast cancer, there are concerns with the liver but if monitored carefully most have few side effects. However with a bone age of 17 1/2 growth is near completion. I would work with the peds endocrinologist and talk with them to discuss your concerns, plan of care and monitoring.
Avatar n tn Arimidex really has a side effect of decreasing bone mineral density, and therefore making the person prone to fracture. The incidence of this in the general population is about 5%. However, these side effects are offset by the major clinical benefit which is prevention of disease recurrence and may ultimately prolong survival. This will all depend on how you accept these risks.
Avatar n tn t be reached even for a biopsy to be taken the Arimidex cleared it by the next scan (6 months). I should point out that Arimidex was the only medication I was taking, no other treatment. The only reason my cancer has now returned is because a relief GP gave me the results of a bone scan and found that I had osteoporosis so she took me off it and by the time I saw my oncologist (another 6 months) the cancer had returned and metasized in my intestines and spine and ribs. Great fun!
Avatar f tn I wish you best of news on Monday! I had my CA125 news on Friday and it is finally BELOW the high normal...never has been there since my diagnosis in Oct. 2007. Can't wait for after Nov. 1st and we can get together to support each other WITH each other...until then, though, you have a great amount of "active" support here! Keep us posted! You also have my phone number!
Avatar n tn s side effects while Herceptin does cause weakness but I doubt what you are experiencing is from your treatment in 2009. I would think that Arimidex is the culprit in this case. Regards ....
1415174 tn?1453243103 The previous answer you refer to would be with the original post back in January I suppose. Bone pain is a side effect of the medications you mentioned but a bone spur is an entirely different matter and no doubt the cause of the pain. Regards ..
Avatar n tn I also had my ovaries removed in Jan09 so it is hard to tell if the Arimidex causes the hot flushes or the surgical menopause. No depression or mood swings. All these things are more inconvenient than anything else. Whatever your doctor prescribes just try and if you find it intolerable, tell the doctor and try another. Anything that can prevent a recurrence is worth it. Good luck.
Avatar n tn The Doctor checked with an endocrinologist. The Arimidex is blocking the estrogen production and the body recognizes the testosterone more readily and reacts. Are there other women with this reaction?
Avatar f tn I have been on Arimidex for 3 years and I have the exact same problem with the weight gain in my stomach. I don't know if it will ever come off but all I can do is hope. I am cancer free since my surgery and the pills and hope to remain so. My oncologist seems to think every thing is going very well at this time. After all this is the most important part of it, remaining cancer free. I wish all well and hope you continue to remain cancer free.
Avatar m tn Did you give the arimidex to your son? My son is 11 and has been in puberty a little over a year. They want to give him more time to grow and suggested this medicine. I don’t like the side affects I’m seeing though. I know this post is old but I would appreciate any feedback.
107366 tn?1305680375 Yup, joint pain is a very common complaint with aromatase inhibitors. I'm taking Arimidex and commiserate with Rusty, in fact that's how if feel in the morning ... rusty! I was on Arimidex for 6 weeks when I found out I needed chemo. The joint pain was very minimal and I already had some osteoarthritis. However after the chemo (4 cycles TC) I resumed the Arimidex and the joint pain has been much more marked.
Avatar n tn 2009), switched from tamoxifen after 1 year on tamoxifen. My white blood cell count the month before I started arimidex (Jan.) was 4.2. When I had a blood test more than 2 weeks ago (April 8), my WBC count was 3.3. Could this be a side effect of arimidex? FYI -- I was diagnosed in May 2007: IDC, stage 1, 1cm., e.r. +, grade 3, negative lymph nodes. I had chemo (1 infusion TC, 6 infusions CMF) Aug. 2007 to Jan. 2008, radiation for 7 weeks from Feb. to mid March 2008.
Avatar f tn Hi Kelsey: Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated. I will see my family doctor on Tuesday to get my dexa score. But for now I'm concerned with my reaction to the Arimidex. I took my first dose last Tuesday morning at 9:30am, at 12:30p I went to bed for a few hours. Long story, short....I've been feeling horrible since last Tuesday. No energy, very tired and shaky, MENTAL FOG, very emotional, I've cried at least one time everyday since.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Arimidex for almost 2 years. Outside of hot-flashes, no other side-effects. About 3 weeks I got a rash or acne in a small area on my face. It now goes over my nose, on my upper lip and some on lower lip areas. Iam 57 and always had a good complection so I'm not sure if this is acne or a rash. Could this be caused by Arimidex?
Avatar f tn s answer to your other post, and have to say she gave you the same advice I would. I would start with the Arimidex, and in the meantime, have the slides from your surgery sent to be tested to see if you are estrogen receptor positive. If it comes back postive, then you'll know your best bet is to continue on with Arimidex, or swith to another Aromatase Inhibitor if your CA125 continues to rise after the first month.
