Arimidex for low testosterone

Common Questions and Answers about Arimidex for low testosterone

arimidex

Avatar n tn felt great for a day and then I felt terrible again, which is why I originally stopped treatment). So my Endo increased the dosage to 10mg, and still no change in energy or mood. We then switched to Enanthate injections - I had my first last week of 75mg, and I felt a little better for 2 days and then the effects are gone again. Might there be some other problem associated with the way my body absorbs and uses Testosterone?
689860 tn?1238718032 If they rise too high, a drug that is normally used for females with breast cancer called Arimidex will take care of the problem. It neutralizes the enzyme that causes testosterone to aromatize into estrogen. Usually one or two Arimidex per week are enough to bring your estradiol (estrogen) level into a normal range without any bad side effects. The thing is not to give up on living a normal life as nature intended. With proper care and dedication, you can be even better than before.
Avatar n tn I agree with jayjay30. The testosterone "normal" range is so wide that you can have almost 10 times the amount and it is still considered normal. That just seems wrong. The average male will lose low levels of testosterone every yr. after about the age of 30-35. I can guarantee you if the loss of testosterone was not gradual, men would be rushing to their MD. In my case (55 yr. old-male) I started self injections of testosterone every week for my low "T" number.
Avatar n tn I have been on Arimidex for seven months and experienced an increase in libido, I am 72. The Oncologist checked for an increase in testosterone. Result: normal. The Doctor checked with an endocrinologist. The Arimidex is blocking the estrogen production and the body recognizes the testosterone more readily and reacts. Are there other women with this reaction?
Avatar m tn and with testicle measurement am stage IV puberty but have a small penis, difficulty getting erections and a very low semen volume, semen analysis was normal except for low semen volume, possible SMALL prostate, dry skin and change in vision resulting in mild myopia.
Avatar m tn It would be really important to rule out any underlying reasons for issues of low testosterone and if they diagnosed you with secondary hypogonadism. They would look for issues such as diabetes ,issues with your pituitary gland, what medications you are taking. In general, being obese can cause it as well. We are happy you work on your weight maintenance program and think that is terrific! Keep that up. But it must be said that primary and secondary hypogonadism can both be congenital.
Avatar m tn I have Hypogonadism treated wth testosterone and arimidex. I do wonder if arimidex can trigger afib. I have OSA and wear CPAP at night......Also during my sleep study I had a couple central apneas too.....So I wonder if I rally have a mixed Sleep apnea. I am 34 years old.
Avatar n tn You suffer from groin numbness? Reduced global pleasure sensation? Like massages don't feel as good?
Avatar f tn re extremely low. I hate estrogen pills like arimidex and aromasin. Is cialis safe to take with Entecavir? I thought about adding Cialis but the headaches and flu like symptoms can be bad at times but it works every time.
Avatar n tn I have only had Arimidex. I only took it for about 2 months during my remission. I didn't really understand that it could have actually prevented my recurrence. It did cause a similiar bone pain to the carbo/taxol I had done. For that reason I quit taking it. There are doctors also using one now called Femara. Maybe one of those would work for you.
Avatar f tn Anyone taking Arimidex or has taken it in the past. I am looking for feedback if it helped lower the ca 125??? My CA 125 is rising from 93 to 156 and now in the 230's... however nothing has changed on my pet scan and no measurable disease... I am seeing my onc on Monday...and he had recommended to try if i want Arimidex. I have other options like trying different chemo's... but then we are just treating the number... I wanted to give this a try.... what do you think...
Avatar n tn ) I also now occasionally consult a holistic MD (referred by my oncologist) for nutritional advice. I am thinking of adding a supplement with the arimidex (broccoli seed extract - a natural aromatase inhibitor) and monitoring estradiol/estrone with blood tests after starting the supplement. If there were a negative interaction between the arimidex and the broccoli seed extract, how accurate would the blood test's estrogen results be?
Avatar n tn Though there is a good theoretical basis for the use of arimidex on endometriosis, I believe that this is still an off-label indication for the drug and the clinical basis for its use is still from phase II clinical trials (studies with still low number of patients). Until such time that the indication of endometriosis can be demonstrated in large phase III clinical trials, the use of arimidex for endometriosis is still controversial.
Avatar m tn My endocrinologist ordered some tests and found that my testosterone was 250. That is really really low. It has hovered at around that level for about a year. A healthy person my age should have a total testosterone of between 700-1000. I don't know what my normal T levels were before but they must have been much higher than 250. It must have something to do with all the cycling I do. The Ed came on suddenly.
384464 tn?1217899843 It does sound like your baby is a true miracle! My DH's count is low because he has a varicocele. His testosterone levels were on the low side of normal which can also make his counts low. He had a physical and blood work done to find this out. Clomid is mainly used for women. Some doctors give Clomid to men too. I guess it doesn't always work. Well find out in a month in a half if it's working or not.
Avatar n tn I don't know of anything unless you would reduce the caloric intake although it might not be totally due to food. It might also depend on what those calories are coming from. Good Luck....
Avatar f tn I do test I discove that I have low testosterone I start treatment and I take testosterone injection called Nebido 1000 after I take the injection The situation did not improve no sex drive or libido I do testosterone test I found result testosetrone high 8.7 but there's no any effect inside my body !!!!! What are the causes of high testosterone level without any effect on the body ???? the problem in testosterone receptor or in what ??
Avatar n tn I have been on arimidex for about 2 months (since Feb. 2009), switched from tamoxifen after 1 year on tamoxifen. My white blood cell count the month before I started arimidex (Jan.) was 4.2. When I had a blood test more than 2 weeks ago (April 8), my WBC count was 3.3. Could this be a side effect of arimidex? FYI -- I was diagnosed in May 2007: IDC, stage 1, 1cm., e.r. +, grade 3, negative lymph nodes. I had chemo (1 infusion TC, 6 infusions CMF) Aug. 2007 to Jan.
Avatar m tn After seeing an endocrinologist who ran all types of blood work which came back normal with the exception of his estrogen level a bit higher then normal and had an X-ray of his hand which showed bones of a 13 half to 14 half yr old (I was told was good ) want to give my son arimidex. My question is......is this safe for teen boys. I read its not FDA approved for children.
Avatar n tn Hello, The typical male testosterone level is between 250ng/dl to 850 ng/dl. The primary treatment for low testosterone is testosterone supplement. Testosterone replacement therapy may be in the form of skin gel, injections, long acting pellets, patches or oral inserts. Clomid is not the primary treatment mode for testosterone deficiency. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn Will broccoli seed extract capsules interfere with Arimidex if I take them both? Apparently broccoli seed extract is also an aromatase inhibitor. I am on Arimidex and blood tests indicate that it is working, as my estrogen levels are low. But a 24-hour urine test prescribed by an M.D. with a holistic practice showed a problem in one of my estrogen pathways, and recommended a broccoli seed extract with SGS (sulforaphane glucosinolate). Might it enhance or interfere with Arimidex?
Avatar m tn As for your hubbies testosterone levels the ones that really matter are the free testosterone levels or the ones readily available for use. I have other symptoms of low testosterone too so I am working on that. I retested my blood and I am waiting on my results. Anyway good luck and do let me know. I'm curious about my options if i face the same situation.
746377 tn?1263180080 Thanks for you quick response. I have been on Arimidex for 4 months Femara first two months but the muscle pain was to severe. Not to many effects in the first two months-of Arimidex- just a headache and some joint pain are my side effects. My surgeon ordered my Onco-I was a 17 with 8 percent rate of distant mets in 10 years low chance of recurrence for me. I will probably feel better when time passes as you say.. My doctors tell me I have a good prognosis. .
Avatar m tn You need to see a urologist. Your testosterone could be low, but that may not be the only cause. I'm not an expert. Seek medical advice NOW!
Avatar m tn Hi, I just got my exams an endocrinologist sent me, in them I have low testosterone I have 1.2 when the minimum is 2.7 if I am not mistaken, the thing is I guess now I will be patient a hormone replacement therapy for increase my testosterone and let me know what to expect, experiences or something that can help me with this new experience , thanks.
Avatar m tn In any case, I would advise you to consult an endocrinologist, because low libido and increased fatigue can be associated not only with low testosterone production, but also with disorders in the thyroid gland. Take tests for thyroid hormones and perform an ultrasound exam.
