Common Questions and Answers about Arimidex dosage on cycle

arimidex

Avatar f tn why do I have to take the full 1mg of Armidex when women who are heavier than me and still have their ovaries take the same dosage. Will a half dose or every other day dose be just as effective for me? If anyone knows where I can get this answered, please let me know. I would like to get some information before I speak with my onc., I guess I need some ammunition.
Avatar f tn 5 months later counts rising again and tumors on CT scan -- Started Doxil Feb 3 of 2008 and just finished 6 cycles -- tumors have shrunk significantly by CA125 up to 256 which is where I started in Feb (had gone down to 161 and then started climbing again) -- docs say I need a break and have started me on Arimidex two days ago to control the CA125 -- should i be continuing the Doxil to make the tumors continue to shrink, or stay on Arimidex until the tumors are growing again?
Avatar m tn I am 75 years old and live alone Yesterday I decided to quit taking the Arimidex. I phoned my oncologist and left a message on the nurse voice mail. No one has returned my call. What are the statistics of recurrance with / without Arimidex treatment? I have been told I am in the 2% range.. which to me is not worth the horrible side effects of Arimidex.
Avatar n tn I hate to tell you but I am on Arimidex and I have joint pain in my hips and knees and my fingers are stiff and swollen -- It started two weeks after I started the Arimidex --- It may be gentler than Femara but for me it hasn't been a walk in the part either -- Sorry your mom is feeling so poorly -- I hope they help her quickly -- maybe she should be taking Calcium with Vitamin D in the meantime
107366 tn?1305680375 I took Femara for a short time back last fall, and again this spring. Are any of you on Aromasin, Femara, Tamoxifen, or Arimidex experiencing joint/bone pain? If so, do you find it getting worse the longer you are on it? I finally got off IV chemo in favor of taking AI's because IV chemo was doing too much damage and I needed a break. My cancer is highly estrogen positive so AI's seem to be the choice for me at the moment (I actually have Ovarian cancer, not Breast Cancer.
Avatar f tn hot flashes mostly. (Women who took 20 mg .. once a day .. had bone pain, etc.). If you go on Arimidex .. keep this in mind .. Good luck and God Bless ..
Avatar n tn I have been on Arimidex for 2 yrs. and half. Last week my blood pressure reached 170/100. My internist doubled Diovan from 80 mg to 160 mg. My bp has come down to 133/80 to 150/85 range in 10 days. I learned that some weman experienced elevated blood pressure and blood clots while on Arimidex. And Arimidex is known to cause high blood pressure and blood clots. How do know for sure that Arimidex is the cause of my high blood pressure?
Avatar m tn Hi: You don't mention what cancer you had but being in the BC Forum I suppose you had just that. Do you remember what color was your chemo cocktail? Was it sort of pink or red? If the color matches the chemo you got then your hair loss if from chemo though Arimidex also causes hair loss. While you are on Arimidex I don't believe you will see much hair growth. For further information on side effects from Arimidex the enclosed link is to an Arimidex Forum, check it: http://www.
Avatar n tn Hello. I am taking Arimidex (dx May 2007, IDC, 1 cm., grade 3, negative lymph nodes; had lumpectomy, sentinel node biopsy, chemo, radiation; I was 54 and perimenopausal at time of dx and chemo put me in menopause.) I also now occasionally consult a holistic MD (referred by my oncologist) for nutritional advice.

Avatar f tn I just completed 5 years on arimidex and have been asked to be part of a study and go on it for another 5 years. Has cancer reoccurred in patients while they have been on arimidex, not due to the drug, but due to the cancer. In other words, does taking arimidex prevent cancer from reoccurring while a patient is on it?
Avatar n tn Been on Arimidex 26 months. Having numbness in hands and feet. Oncologist doesn't think it's related to Arimidex. Anyone have this problem while on this drug?
Avatar n tn I started taking Arimidex about five months ago. Since then I have had many of the typical side effects such as hand/joint pain, neuropathy in my hands, hot flashes, wakefulness at night etc. However, my sight in one eye has also begun to noticeably deteriorate. I know, because I had my eyes checked and a new eye prescription just before I started taking Arimidex. I saw my eye doctor again last week and my vision has deteriorated from 20/40 to 20/70 (with correction) in just a few months.
Avatar n tn I am 42 and have been on Arimidex since Feb. 20, 2009. I have had a hysterectomy in May to remove my ovaries. I have gained 15 pounds. I am on a 1600 calorie/day diet and walk six miles a day, four days a week. I would like to know if there is any thing else I can do to battle this weight gain. I will be on Arimidex for another four years.
Avatar n tn Does Arimidex have to actually kill you vs. maiming you for life, in order to be pulled off the market? At 58, I may need a hip replacement because I took Arimidex for two years! Avatar n tn Though there is a good theoretical basis for the use of arimidex on endometriosis, I believe that this is still an off-label indication for the drug and the clinical basis for its use is still from phase II clinical trials (studies with still low number of patients). Until such time that the indication of endometriosis can be demonstrated in large phase III clinical trials, the use of arimidex for endometriosis is still controversial.
Avatar f tn Many thanks for your response and advice. I have been on both drugs together - Arimidex for 4 yrs, Fosamax for 3 yrs. I stopped the Arimidex 4 wks ago but have continued with weekly Fosamax. The bone pain in my hip and foot has diminished considerably, although I still have shooting pains in both thumbs and 1st 2 fingers. I am a little confused as to your advice......when you say "a possible brilliant solution is to take these drugs together WITH bone protective agents...
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed in 08 and am her2 positive. I went through chemo, radiation and 1 year of hercepton. Since then I"ve beem on arimidex. My main complaint other then hot flashes (terrible lol) is fatigue. It seems that I"ve lost alot of energy. The fatigue comes shortly after I start a project. Because of the hot flashes I get little sleep some nights but does the arimidex also cause fatigue? Is a side effect of hercepton fatigue (taken in 09,,,,?
Avatar m tn Armidex may not prolong his growth period much longer with such an advanced bone age, it is a medication used to block estrogen effect, also used in breast cancer, there are concerns with the liver but if monitored carefully most have few side effects. However with a bone age of 17 1/2 growth is near completion. I would work with the peds endocrinologist and talk with them to discuss your concerns, plan of care and monitoring.
Avatar n tn Hello, like Katarina stated, people react differently with every medication prescribed.I have been on Arimidex for almost a year now and I have very little side effects.I am almost your age and I had IDC like you..same stage and no lymph nodes involved.Arimidex was the preferred drug that my surgeon chose for me.The only side effect I had was that I felt a little depressed for a certain time, but now I am okay.
Avatar n tn Outside of hot-flashes, no other side-effects. About 3 weeks I got a rash or acne in a small area on my face. It now goes over my nose, on my upper lip and some on lower lip areas. Iam 57 and always had a good complection so I'm not sure if this is acne or a rash. Could this be caused by Arimidex?
Avatar f tn I have been on Arimidex for 3 years and I have the exact same problem with the weight gain in my stomach. I don't know if it will ever come off but all I can do is hope. I am cancer free since my surgery and the pills and hope to remain so. My oncologist seems to think every thing is going very well at this time. After all this is the most important part of it, remaining cancer free. I wish all well and hope you continue to remain cancer free.
Avatar m tn The endocrinologist wants to put him on that. I'm reading side effects and I don't feel comfortable giving it to him. I am going for second opinion. Just wanted to see if any other parents had experience with this drug.
Avatar n tn I have been on Arimidex for seven months and experienced an increase in libido, I am 72. The Oncologist checked for an increase in testosterone. Result: normal. The Doctor checked with an endocrinologist. The Arimidex is blocking the estrogen production and the body recognizes the testosterone more readily and reacts. Are there other women with this reaction?
Avatar n tn I have been on arimidex for about 2 months (since Feb. 2009), switched from tamoxifen after 1 year on tamoxifen. My white blood cell count the month before I started arimidex (Jan.) was 4.2. When I had a blood test more than 2 weeks ago (April 8), my WBC count was 3.3. Could this be a side effect of arimidex? FYI -- I was diagnosed in May 2007: IDC, stage 1, 1cm., e.r. +, grade 3, negative lymph nodes. I had chemo (1 infusion TC, 6 infusions CMF) Aug. 2007 to Jan.
