arimidex and thinning hair

Hi, Thank you both so much for your input. I read on the information page one gets from their prescriptions under "Side Affects", this one being Tamoxifen, and it read "hair thinning". I have read it quite a few times to be sure. I also pulled it up on a couple web sites and asked about hair and Tamoxifen, they said same, "hair thinning".. If this is the case, I needed to know if hair will come back to normal after treatment.

Does Arimidex effect hair growth? I finished chemotherapy on August 24 and my hair has not quite grown in yet.

I switched to Aromasin from Arimidex and my I began losing my hair immediately. Changed back after 6 days but a week later, I'm still losing hair. Any ideas on how long this will continue?

I learned that some weman experienced elevated blood pressure and blood clots while on Arimidex. And Arimidex is known to cause high blood pressure and blood clots. How do know for sure that Arimidex is the cause of my high blood pressure?

She is now concerned about her hair thinning and even being lost, claiming that it has at least begun to thin. My question: Is there a strong correlation between hair thinning/loss with accutane patients? Should she be concerned about permanent hair loss? If her hair is thinning, is this permanent as well or temporary?

After around 6 months i could see my scalp.Taking a closer look it appeared red and the hair was thinning especially in the mid scalp region.I could also scratch some white crust with my nail.I had moderate itching.After some months i had extreme itching and a burning sensation like ants crawling and i could sense warmth.The scalp was really red so i went to dermatologist.I think he said i had pytiriasis.I was given ketekonazole and nizoral and after 1 month of treatment the symptoms were gone.

i am having this problem from past 10 months before that my hair were healthy and thiker but now they are very thin and my scalp is noticeablee on top. i tthinking of rogaine ,,currently using nizoral hvent seen dermatologist yet. i donot have any family history of baldness. any suggestions??

within a month i was so bad with the lose of hair and tired, the shakes,no energy and my heart felt like it was coming out of my chest everytime i walked a few distants or went up stairs that i went to another doctor and he imm. did blood work and asked me about family history. i'm adopted so i don't know anything. I would suspect more of an iron deficiency, could also be lack of protein as well. :) I'm 32 and have Crohn's and 50% of my hair fell out. It's coming back but i feel your pain.

I noticed it when I had my hair layered and I looked in the mirror at the back of my head and I could see parts in my hair that showed my scalp and when I tried to move my hair around to cover the part another part would show. I lost my hair like crazy in last pregnancy. My mom said it is common if you are pregnant with a little girl(old wives tale I guess?). And turned out I WAS pregnant with a girl.you eat healthy and don't worry much. You have way more hair on your head than you think and you will be fine. Keep earing healthy and not worry much as worrying will make it only worse.

Are you on meds for PCOS? As I understand it, being on meds and losing weight, help to control all the symptoms of PCOS, including thinning hair. I myself haven't tried any products, but I wish you good luck with that, honey!

Hair loss is a common symptom of hypothyroidism. Sometimes, it's one of the first symptoms to go away when starting med, sometimes, it's the last. I'd guess that it's the Armour that has stopped the hair loss. BTW - I've read that spirulina should not be used with thyroid medication.

My hair and beard have been thinning for a while , and it seems to be getting worse by the week. I have had all the relative blood tests to rule out anemia and thyroid problems and they are negative.

Thyroid hair loss would be all over - as in thinning throughout the hair for general thinning, while pattern baldness would be thinning in certain spots. At least, that is what happened to me.

ve recently started Arimidex 5 days ago and again noticed dry eyes and my vision does not seem as clear once again. I have to believe that it's the Arimidex and Tamoxifin.

I am 75 years old and live alone Yesterday I decided to quit taking the Arimidex. I phoned my oncologist and left a message on the nurse voice mail. No one has returned my call. What are the statistics of recurrance with / without Arimidex treatment? I have been told I am in the 2% range.. which to me is not worth the horrible side effects of Arimidex.

Are you sure that you only need T4, because since I am taking Armour which is a natural T4/T3 I feel better my hair still falling but not as much as before when I was on Levoxyl. Ask your doctor if Armour is a good option for you? I am 39 but I only had like 10 months on treatment, but my mom and my two sisters also take thyroid medication for some years now. I am the first one to try Armour they have been with cyntroid and levoxyl. I think I am feeling a little better now.

Hello, It is true that accutane has plenty of side effects. It may cause cheilitis and dry lips but thinning of skin and hair loss are less frequent side effects. From your symptoms first of all hypothyroidism should be ruled out. The second possibility to be ruled out is of vitamin D deficiency.

Estrogen and progesterone positive. If anyone can tell me something about Arimidex and the above side effects and osteopenia and whether or not I need to start a bisphosphonates please let me know.
