Arimidex and testosterone therapy

Common Questions and Answers about Arimidex and testosterone therapy

arimidex

Avatar n tn The Doctor checked with an endocrinologist. The Arimidex is blocking the estrogen production and the body recognizes the testosterone more readily and reacts. Are there other women with this reaction?
689860 tn?1238718032 What seems to work best to raise your hormone levels to where they need to be are WEEKLY injections of between .5 and 1 cc of testosterone. Be sure your doctor monitors your levels monthly including your estradiol (estrogen) levels. When your proper testosterone levels are achieved, continue to monitor your estradiol levels monthly for up to 6 months. If they rise too high, a drug that is normally used for females with breast cancer called Arimidex will take care of the problem.
Avatar m tn I was 38 and premenstrual. Following surgery, chemo and radiotherapy had 5 years of zoladex and arimidex which finished in Aug 2013. My periods returned 10 months later but have been very irregular, cycles from 5 weeks to a 2 month and a 3 month cycle. I have had enormous problems with intermittent fatigue, muscle aches, painful breasts, mood wings (PMDD), hypertension. I was fatigued during the hormonal tx but the present fatigue does not improve with rest.
Avatar m tn After brachytherapy for my cancer, I am in remission, and after 2+ years resumed taking androgel. I am on androgel again, and have high Testosterone levels (about 1000), but my libido has never recovered. I also have had hypothyroidism, but have been taking synthroid for it for many years with no adverse impact on my libido. Does anyone have a suggestion for what to do?
Avatar n tn Vaginal bleeding which is not too common does sometimes occur during the first few months of Arimidex therapy; especially after switching from one of the other hormonal treatments such as Tamoxifen. It this continues for much longer it would be wise to ck. with your Physician regarding the problem. Regards ....
Avatar n tn I hate to tell you but I am on Arimidex and I have joint pain in my hips and knees and my fingers are stiff and swollen -- It started two weeks after I started the Arimidex --- It may be gentler than Femara but for me it hasn't been a walk in the part either -- Sorry your mom is feeling so poorly -- I hope they help her quickly -- maybe she should be taking Calcium with Vitamin D in the meantime

Avatar f tn When I say that I tried Arimidex, Tamoxifin, and Femera..... Arimidex made my joints so stiff and sore that I couldn't even walk without extreme pain. So I was put on Tamoxifin and within 3 months my WBC dropped to 1.3 which is one of the rare side effects. At that time I was changed to Femera, shortly after that I had vaginal bleeding so they did a D/C and 2 weeks later I started bleeding again.
Avatar n tn The hormone therapy has so many side affects. The drugs suggested for me are Arimidex or Raloxifene. Is there anyone that does not take hormone therapy and is still doing well with no recurrance?
Avatar m tn I am 26.5yrs old and I used steroids when I was 19 and a half till I was 22. I have had a bit testicular atrophy and I have noticed a little bit of lack of firmness and want of sex. Also energy levels have been low. My bro n law is 32 and has the same issues without the steroid use. He was prescribed to use .4cc's of testosterone cypionate once a week. I have followed in his foot steps and went to a urologist and got my testosterone checked. He said next appt.
Avatar m tn I have been struggling with weight loss for 10+ years. My new doctor ordered a testosterone test and my results came back "low". I was referred to an endocrinologist, and I did not have a good rapport with her and did not feel as though she understood the years of effort I have put into trying to keep my weight down. After tests, she did not recommend testosterone treatment.
Avatar f tn Estrogen and progesterone positive. If anyone can tell me something about Arimidex and the above side effects and osteopenia and whether or not I need to start a bisphosphonates please let me know.
Avatar f tn Hi, I too was taking Tamoxifen and then was switched to Arimidex and then Aromasen. I am now back on Tamoxifen. I had so many problems with the other meds. I am very sensative to meds and the later 2 did not work. I have a few problems with Tamoxifen but it is better than the others for me. My Dr. said that it is not a problem being in "forced" menopause and the fact that I had a hysterectomy as well. One thing we always have to remember is that we are our own advocate...
Avatar m tn your testosterone levels should increase with weight loss to an extent, the more fat you have the more eostrogen you have, eostrogen interferes with testosterone production. Dont expect to drop to 140 pounds and be bursting with testosterone.
Avatar n tn I learned that some weman experienced elevated blood pressure and blood clots while on Arimidex. And Arimidex is known to cause high blood pressure and blood clots. How do know for sure that Arimidex is the cause of my high blood pressure?
Avatar m tn I have Hypogonadism treated wth testosterone and arimidex. I do wonder if arimidex can trigger afib. I have OSA and wear CPAP at night......Also during my sleep study I had a couple central apneas too.....So I wonder if I rally have a mixed Sleep apnea. I am 34 years old.
Avatar f tn re extremely low. I hate estrogen pills like arimidex and aromasin. Is cialis safe to take with Entecavir? I thought about adding Cialis but the headaches and flu like symptoms can be bad at times but it works every time.
1068689 tn?1325827206 I am on testosterone therapy and recently, last four or five weeks I have started to develop breakouts, pimples if you will on my back and neck area. Nothing too bad but a definite change. Also, my skin in these same areas appear to be a bit oily than normal. I understand this is a symptom of being on this therapy so that is not my question or concern. My question is, has anyone else on testosterone injections had this and if so, have you had any luck with any treatments for this?
Avatar n tn ve recently started Arimidex 5 days ago and again noticed dry eyes and my vision does not seem as clear once again. I have to believe that it's the Arimidex and Tamoxifin.
Avatar m tn I have Obesity (unintentional) and weigh 251 lb and am 5 ft and 9 3/4 in. I eat only about 500-600 calories a day. I can only tolerate very little food which are carbs only.
746377 tn?1263180080 I had a lumpectomy, radiation and now Arimidex. How likely is this tumour with no vessel or nodal invasion present, onco type dx score in low recurrence, to metastasis?
Avatar f tn ve completed 4 cycles of Taxotere and Cytoxan. I have been on Arimidex for 4 months. What might be my chances of a distant metastasis? I have pre-osteopenia per a bone density. My oncologist said I might consider Zometa infusions which would be given every 6 months. Does it only help prevent bone metastasis or other mets as well? I know the research is still out on this but an early study indicated a greater than 30% reduction in risk of bone mets. That seems substantial.
Avatar f tn That could very likely be the reason ... if I were you I would certainly bring it up when you go for your ck. up. If that was his recommendation and you were OK with it initially I can't see any reason to have ask before. Personally I would like to know the reasoning though .... as no doubt you would too, so ask away. Best Wishes for your ck. up.
Avatar f tn My question is that I have talked to people who have had mastectomies and no hormone therapy. First I want to know if HT is standard care in my case and seocnd I want to know if HT is standard with mastectomies for my type of cancer. While I understand that you cannot anser this for me, I want to know if in some medical circles HT is omitted for my situation. I am asking becasue I want to know if it is worth it for me to seek a second opinioin.
Avatar m tn My question is, shortly after I began Testosterone Replacement Therapy and am using Androgel daily. Is this an issue that I should be concerned with in regards to the CSCR? Or is it really corticosteriods that are a problem? This a concern to me since I have noticed a significant improvment in my overall general well being since using Androgel.
