arimidex and hair growth

Does Arimidex effect hair growth? I finished chemotherapy on August 24 and my hair has not quite grown in yet.

I switched to Aromasin from Arimidex and my I began losing my hair immediately. Changed back after 6 days but a week later, I'm still losing hair. Any ideas on how long this will continue?

My Son has bone age of 14.6 and just started arimidex to delay growth plate fusion. How long can arimidex delay fusion?

Did you give the arimidex to your son? My son is 11 and has been in puberty a little over a year. They want to give him more time to grow and suggested this medicine. I don’t like the side affects I’m seeing though. I know this post is old but I would appreciate any feedback.

He has hypothyroidism and his TSH is often high so we have to adjust his meds. He has been diagnosed as slow growth AND precocious puberty (bone plates at age 14). No other problems, MRI showed nothing there. Endo recommending Lupron but can't find much info about giving that to a 12 year old boy. And thoughts positive or negative? Thanks!

Hi Barb, I'm so sorry you have had limited hair regrowth following chemo--but very happy to hear that you are 6 years out from your course of chemo!! As you probably realize from the old thread referenced at the bottom of your post, hair after chemo may be thinner, a different color or texture, may be changed from curly to straight or from straight to curly, or, unfortunately, in some cases, may not grow back at all.

I learned that some weman experienced elevated blood pressure and blood clots while on Arimidex. And Arimidex is known to cause high blood pressure and blood clots. How do know for sure that Arimidex is the cause of my high blood pressure?

ve recently started Arimidex 5 days ago and again noticed dry eyes and my vision does not seem as clear once again. I have to believe that it's the Arimidex and Tamoxifin.

I am 75 years old and live alone Yesterday I decided to quit taking the Arimidex. I phoned my oncologist and left a message on the nurse voice mail. No one has returned my call. What are the statistics of recurrance with / without Arimidex treatment? I have been told I am in the 2% range.. which to me is not worth the horrible side effects of Arimidex.

Estrogen and progesterone positive. If anyone can tell me something about Arimidex and the above side effects and osteopenia and whether or not I need to start a bisphosphonates please let me know.

I have been on Arimidex for 3 years and I have the exact same problem with the weight gain in my stomach. I don't know if it will ever come off but all I can do is hope. I am cancer free since my surgery and the pills and hope to remain so. My oncologist seems to think every thing is going very well at this time. After all this is the most important part of it, remaining cancer free. I wish all well and hope you continue to remain cancer free.

Has anyone experienced a full face full of acne for a prolonged period after starting Arimidex? It is my friend who had breast cancer and she is blind and wants to write for her. She also has Lupus but she has seen a dermatologist and rheumatologist and they dismiss it as acne. She knows she is out of remission with discoid lupus. But they assured her the 'acne" is not lupus breakout.

I hate to tell you but I am on Arimidex and I have joint pain in my hips and knees and my fingers are stiff and swollen -- It started two weeks after I started the Arimidex --- It may be gentler than Femara but for me it hasn't been a walk in the part either -- Sorry your mom is feeling so poorly -- I hope they help her quickly -- maybe she should be taking Calcium with Vitamin D in the meantime

Hi. I've had my lumpectomy and some of my lymph nodes removed (as precaution) and am now looking at the next step. My surgeon had thought I'd do radiation, but I can't. As I do research, I'm wondering, what do I look under, since I have more than one type of carcinoma? My path report says: a) invasive adenocarcinoma tubualr growth pattern, grade 1, max. tumor diam. 1.1cm, margins clear, est + in >90% of invasive cells; prog. + in 10% of invasive cells. HER-2 neg.

Before I got pregnant I just had peach fuzz on my tummy and now it looks darker and longer, and I'm having a boy. But yet again, I shave my arm pits and legs a lot more than usual. I take my vitamins everyday and my hair doesn't grow its dry and awhful actually. And I don't even colour my hair. It's been over a year since I've coloured it. I too am bummed about this because I was looking forward to my hair finally growing. I chopped it all off a while ago.

I lost a probably about 45% but luckily it thinned all over. the only part I had to hide was a receding hair line in the front (Like my dad has) So I didn't put my hair up and just combed long hair over for a while. I have been done with treatment for a couple months now..and my hair, (while still thinned out) is a completely different texture then it was on treatment. I noticed within a few weeks after tx the shine was back and it did not look so dead anymore.

With my first and second pregnancy my hair grew long and thick on my head. This pregnancy my hair is comings out everytime I wash it. The plug is full of my hair. Luckily for now you wouldn't notice because I have so much. It does appear to be growing faster tho.

It is true, for most women I think. In my first pregnancy my hair grew fast and got thicker. But this time my hair is so thin and even my eyebrows and eyelashes are sparse.
