Avatar m tn Muscle pain can be attributed to thyroid conditions. Are you on medication for Hashimotos? My doctor started saying 'carpal tunnel' syndrome to me at one stage when I was hyper and I dismissed it (correctly). Do you have copies of your thyroid blood tests?
Avatar f tn The result may be pain, weakness, or numbness in the hand and wrist, radiating up the arm. Although painful sensations may indicate other conditions, carpal tunnel syndrome is the most common and widely known of the entrapment neuropathies in which the body's peripheral nerves are compressed or traumatized.
736040 tn?1257436457 Hi, Your symptoms suggest of a Carpal tunnel syndrome . The median nerve passes through the carpal tunnel, a canal in the wrist that is surrounded by bone on three sides, and a transverse carpal ligament on the fourth. Nine tendons—the flexor tendons of the hand—pass through this canal. The median nerve can be compressed by a decrease in the size of the canal, an increase in the size of the contents (such as the swelling of lubrication tissue around the flexor tendons), or both.

Avatar n tn Hi, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a neuropathy caused by compression of the median nerve within the carpal tunnel. 9 long flexors of the wrist and fingers and 1 nerve (median) run within this spatially limited and relatively rigid tunnel. Thus, any increase in pressure within the tunnel compresses the injury-prone median nerve. Risk factors include Repetitive hand work, Endocrine imbalance, History of neuropathy, associated conditions, Rheumatoid arthritis and Pregnancy.

184527 tn?1240973404 Now over 15 years later, I have what is called Flexor Tenosynovitis and was told that it is common in people that have or have had Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. CTS is NOT the cause of my current problem in my hands. The only complaint I had after the surgery, is that holding anything cold hurt my hands. I was told that because the tendon was cut to relieve the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, that the nerves to the wrist and palm are very near the surface making it more sensitive.

Avatar f tn The hormone relaxin that you get during pregnancy and relaxes your body in preparation for baby aggravates carpal tunnel among other conditions (like tendonitis and ligament issues) i've have tendonitis and a complete ligament reconstruction and have had to get cortisone shots this pregnancy to addalleviate pain.
Avatar f tn I have experienced carpal tunnel syndrome with my pregnancy too.. its been for the last few months, but no where near as bad as yours sounds! Poor thing! Mine is worse early morning/night.. I've got weakness in my arms, numb finger tips and my middle finger and thumb are especially painful and often get stuck when I bend them.Luckily I haven't needed splints.
