arimidex and bone pain

t any osteoporous Femara causes swelling and bone pain I switch to Arimidex after being off Femara for 2 weeks and am not having the pain. Please look in to Femara side effects and possible changeing to another drug. I even was in physical therapy for two months because I thought it was me but no it was the drug..

As I was dx with osteo arthritis of both hips, feet and hands after a bone scan a few years ago, I just never connected the pain with Arimidex and thought it was "old age" and arthritis. I was discharged by the Oncologist who helped me through chemo and rads, and have only seen my bc surgeon annually since Feb 2004. I did mention the bone pains to him and he sent me off for the bone scan. I guess as he is not an Oncologist, he also, like me, didn't connect the dots.

In the early breast cancer clinical trial, the most common side effects seen with ARIMIDEX include hot flashes, joint symptoms (including arthritis and arthralgia), weakness, mood changes, pain, back pain, sore throat, nausea and vomiting, rash, depression, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, fractures, swelling of arms/legs, insomnia, and headache. Patients taking ARIMIDEX were less likely than those taking tamoxifen to stop treatment because of side effects.

I have endometriosis stage 4, I had 2 surgeries in 2006, and my surgeon is putting me on Armidex to try to control the pain. Is this a common use for this medicine?

However, 4 yrs down the line, I stopped it 4 weeks ago, due to severe bone pain (hips, hands and feet) and the pain has gone! I still feel I need protection for at least another year so am seeing a new Oncologist (mine retired last year) soon for evaluation and hope she will prescribe either Femara or Aromasin. All the AI's affect bone density, tamoxifen doesn't and before starting one of these you should have a DEXA bone density scan for a baseline. It is a difficult decision I know.

has anyone been on Fosavance for osteopenia/porosis - I think I developed this as a result of an oopherectomy and Arimidex, and am now taking this drug weekly. Since taking it my bones and joints are absolute agony and I am walking around like a ninety year old woman. Does the pain get better? Another question is about the reconstruction.

My bones have been effected by arthritis and then I found out I had Fibromyalgia ! My pain did increase when I started with the Arimidex and my doc put me on Tramadol, works most of the time for me . Really cold weather and damp do make it worse and I am now into thermal underwear lol ! I too feel like 90 when I wake too ! Not a good start to the day . I also do the shuffle to go to the loo in the mornings as my joints are all stiff .

My Oncologist has told me that every women she has treated for the same also complain about bone pain on the site where the radiation took place. What is the reason for this? Could it be a weakening of the bone structure due to the medicine, or did the radioation cause it? Thanks, R.K.

Did you give the arimidex to your son? My son is 11 and has been in puberty a little over a year. They want to give him more time to grow and suggested this medicine. I don’t like the side affects I’m seeing though. I know this post is old but I would appreciate any feedback.

If affected and found early all these new trials and combinations can be tried. The promising note is new information and drugs are emerging daily in the fight against cancer.

But, I have noticed more and more pain the longer I take it. My ankles, legs, knees, arms and wrists get so stiff and sore, and I feel like I'm 90 when I try to get up. I have oral pain meds...Lortab...but I work full time, and it's hard to pop a pill and head out the door to drive an hour's commute. Any suggestions on how to manage the pain?

I could not take femara to much bone pain. I am taking Arimidex but am currently in remission am taking it because I was positive for estrogen and braca 1 patient. good luck on the femara i know someone who took femara and Lupon shot and controlled her cancer for 2 years.

ve completed 4 cycles of Taxotere and Cytoxan. I have been on Arimidex for 4 months. What might be my chances of a distant metastasis? I have pre-osteopenia per a bone density. My oncologist said I might consider Zometa infusions which would be given every 6 months. Does it only help prevent bone metastasis or other mets as well? I know the research is still out on this but an early study indicated a greater than 30% reduction in risk of bone mets. That seems substantial.

She has endured treatment well enough until she began taking Arimidex. She is having a lot of knee pain. Her low bone density puts her at risk for fracture but she is very afraid of the side effects of the medications used to increase bone density and flat out refuses those types of meds. At present time, she is taking Vitamin D and Calcium. Is there something else she can take to increase her bone density besides the commonly used drugs now marketed for increasing bone density?

i am estrogen positive which is why I am on arimidex It sometimes makes me achey and sometimes my stomach bothers me but i go off for a couble of days and then back on it.

I learned that Aromasin and Arimidex are quite different. Aromasin permanently binds to the Aromatase and Arimidex is temporary. I'll have to do more research about what that means chemically.

This drug can cause decrease in bone density and bone mass leading to osteoporosis and sometimes increased tendency to have fractures. If standard pain medications are not helping with these symptoms, I believe that you may discuss with your doctor regarding shifting to a different drug class such as tamoxifen (though tamoxifen has a different side effect profile, mainly from cardiac and vascular side effects).

I learned that some weman experienced elevated blood pressure and blood clots while on Arimidex. And Arimidex is known to cause high blood pressure and blood clots. How do know for sure that Arimidex is the cause of my high blood pressure?

He has been diagnosed with precocious puberty and the doctor has recommended Arimidex and Lupron. I am concerned about side effects and if its benefits will out weigh the risks.
