Common Questions and Answers about Arimedex hd side effects

arimidex

Avatar n tn However, I am noticing that I am going through some hormonal mood swings in this past week and am concerned that I am waiting too long to take any hormaonal treatment therapy. I read the side effects of the arimedex and it is many. Any suggestions or do you agree that I should wait to see what my rheumatologist finds in the scan and xray before I start the hormonal treatment? Peg pegc.
Avatar f tn I'm curious as to what type of Dr. you saw first; the one that told you the side effects were not from the drug. Now about side effects; everyone doesn't experience the same side effects from any drug. Some actually experience very little in the way of adverse reactions. You never know until you have taken a particular drug. I was just wondering if the first Dr. was also an Oncologist.
Avatar f tn You are 74 and done with menopause, now it is up to you to decide what you wish to do, if you can get a second opinion from another Oncologist. I am the kind of person who believes that life quality is far more precious than life quantity. I am 69 and I have decided that no more treatments for me, I am done. Ask yourself and your trusted oncologist the following: 1] How much longer will I lead a quality life if I don't use any Aromatose Inhibitors?
Avatar m tn You might discuss this with your Oncologist .... usually most side effects of Chemo will disappear after the drug has been discontinued. You should keep in mind however that you MUST weigh the side effects against the positive effect of taking the drug. Often you can be switched to another drug with similar benefits and lessen the side effects. All the drugs in this class can produce the same untoward effects but not all persons will experience all of them OR to the same degree.
Avatar f tn I don't know much about this at all, but I just heard an oncologist mention that prozac is one of those meds that make Arimedex less effective. Now I have a question myself as my doctor wants me to switch from Tamoxifen to Armedex. I know for the latter one has to be post menopausal and that Tamoxifen is for pre menopausal. But do you or anyone know if Tamoxifen also works if you have become post menopausal?
Avatar n tn I have been taking Arimidex for 2 years, and all symptoms increase, including CHF. Are these symptoms Arimedex related?
Avatar n tn CrystalensHD came out in July '08 replacing earlier models whose problems for 20%+ of us make it a no-go for me. Mid-range is my most frequent field-of-vision, though, and the concensus seems to be Crystalens, when it works w/o intolerable side effects, does that best. What's a reasonable time to wait for the verdict on the new CrystalensHD?
Avatar f tn If so there are ladies on tamoxifen and arimedex (tablet) after chemo as a maintenance. I tried arimedex, but quit because one of the side effects was bone pain. However I am also on chemo now for recurrence. Maybe I should have stayed on it. Its hard to know.
Avatar n tn These are the only side effects I could find: the most common side effects seen with ARIMIDEX include hot flashes, joint symptoms, weakness, mood changes, pain, sore throat, nausea and vomiting, depression, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, swelling of arms/legs, and headache. Fractures (including fractures of the spine, hip, and wrist) occurred more frequently with ARIMIDEX than with tamoxifen (10% vs 7%). As for the burning...I,personally,have never been able to use anything but Ivory.
Avatar f tn ADHD medicine can be a game changer in terms of managing symptoms, but it, like all medications, has negative effects. Common side effects include decreased appetite, difficulty sleeping, and irritability, particularly at high doses. Some children may also have stomach problems or headaches. It's critical to have open lines of contact with your doctor so that they can change the dosage or try another drug if necessary.
Avatar f tn I had the same issues when I first started taking levothyroxine. Everyone kept telling me that the levo doesn't cause side effects, but I felt like I drank about 25 cups of coffee when I took it! That was 50mcg, my doctor kept increasing the dosage because my TSH was so high. Between 300 and 800. with every increase I just felt worse. I have Hashimoto's Encephalopathy which is a lot different from HD, but still effects the thyroid.
Avatar f tn Avoid the chemotherapy if you can because of its serious side effects. You should build up your immune system so that your body can recover from the treatment and protect you in the future. You might want to contact an alternative MD for appropriate supplements.
Avatar n tn , does cause a lot of side effects including hot flashes, but the benefits must always be weighed against the possible risks.I am sure if your wife discusses her problem with her Oncologist something could be done to alleviate her discomfort without stopping the medication. Also a different drug, such as Femara could be more tolerable?I really don't know, but in my case I found that Femara was less problematic.
Avatar m tn He was on medication when he was younger but has got off them due to the side effects. I am trying to help him cope with this with out medication. Any suggestions would be great or tell me where to start looking for help.
Avatar m tn Pilicorpine 1% helps but I do not view it as a long term solution because it affects my contrast sensitivity, wares off after a couple of hours and has potential long term side effects. I also have 2+ PCO. Would the Pilocarpine eliminating the symptoms suggest the problem is the smaller optic of the Crystalens or is it more likely the problem is the hazy capsule and the Pilocarpine masks the haze through the pinhole effect?
Avatar f tn I have had friends who tried vitex and had bad side effects. I wouldnt recommend vitex.
Avatar n tn Now i have burning and a pain sensation which happens mostly during the night. I am on arimedex for the past 5 months. Could this be caused by this medication? My oncologist took me off the medication for 3 weeks and it hasn"t gotten better. This discussion is related to Tingling in fingers and toes.
Avatar m tn It is working for his ADHD but it has loads of side effects (and he cannot take any of the stimulant type meds). We are not sure what to do about the semen leakage. He, understandably, is embarrassed about this and has started to wear diapers to work to protect his clothes. Is this the best option? Anyone has suggestions. He has decided to deal with the side effects bc of the clear benefits to his ADHD so I want to support him, we are just not sure what options are there.
Avatar n tn The doctors on this board and others have been recommending monofocal lenses on the grounds that they are associated with less side effects, but I based my decision to go with Crystalens on the notion that the complaints here have been rather few compared with the number of procedures being done every day. I've been happy with it and I have had no side effects or problems.
Avatar m tn I would say if you really want a Crystalens then a Crystalens Center of Excelence is a good start, However...This title is granted by the makers of the Crystalens and I don't know what their exact requirements are for granting this title. I believe they need only to implant 100 Crystalens sucsessfully to obtain this title but I'm not 100% sure.
