Avatar f tn Are the effects of elevated amonia levels reversible? After the the levels have been brought back down and other complications due to the levels will a person not be confused and unresponsive? Someone I love dearly had ulcers the were bleeding in the lower part of her esophagus. That and the history of a liver disease caused the amonia levels to get high enough that she was comatose. They got the levels down and removed her ventillator but she still has a blank stare and is not responsive.
Avatar m tn As I have already stated, it may be reversible damage i.e. once you discontinue the drug the effects over liver is reversed and it can be evident by monitoring liver enzymes regularly. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn Budesonide and Formoteral Your spirometry results demonstrate reversible obstruction of air flow. That is improvement of airflow on the post-bronchodilator exam and decided improvement after two weeks of therapy. At age 22, the most likely diagnoses are asthma and (smoking induced) bronchitis, the two diagnoses not unrelated.
Avatar n tn I have been using Latisse for about 4 years, but I only apply it on the top edge of my lashes and I have had no side effects from using it (much to the frustration of many friends whose eyes get all red and puffy). Eye doc said his research indicated there were no side effects related to the sclera. I tried going simple - with Visine. no help. I've been using Systane 3-4 times daily for about 2 months and that has not made a change either. I do not wear contacts.
Avatar n tn This one has lots of big words. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11294826 This one is long, but easier to read. http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic3740.htm It sounds like the effect can be temporary, or not.
551343 tn?1506830518 Hi Maria, I had pretty bad heat intolerance before treatment for Lyme disease. It started out minor, and could appear from a short burst of heat (getting face full of steam while cooking would make my whole face tingle like mad), or it could be all over (a hot shower or exercise would aggrevate all of my symptoms to some extent). With time it got worse, to the point that if I let the shower get too hot for even a moment, I'd have no choice but to go back to bed for hours.
Avatar m tn Hi, welcome to the forum, your symptoms are suggestive of acute exacerbations of COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). But other associations needed to be ruled out are asthma, interstitial lung disease, and cardiomyopathy, valvular disorders, pericardial diseases, anemia etc. You need to undergo chest radiograph, respiratory function tests to rule out COPD. Acid reflux disease is known to cause acute exacerbation of COPD.

Avatar n tn The inhibitory affects of pde5 drugs are reversible in the sense that as soon as the blood levels of the drug, say Cialis, falls below a certain level then the it ceases to have a pde5 inhibitory affect and the blood vessel returns to normal.
Avatar m tn I research this a little and found that nicotine will actually cause the SFN to get worse and stop any of here meds that the doctors gave here to work correctly. I need help. I have strong feelings against her smoking again but she will not listen to me about what it will do and the doctors we are with will not call her back for appoints, questions, or help her with her depression or anxioty. Avatar f tn My boyfriend quit "cold turkey" about a month ago. Already he sleeps better and coughs so much less. And although he still struggles daily with the temptation, he's doing a great job, and I tell him so. He has since noticed that his hands are "puffy" (his fingers don't fit his bowling ball properly anymore) and that he is nasally "congested" and thinks it may be allergies.
Avatar m tn Hello, Psychological reasons are one of the important causes of erectile dysfunction. Talk to your partner openly and discuss the relationship issues. Lifestyle choices like excessive smoking, being overweight and avoiding exercise are other possible causes. In such cases quitting smoking, losing excessive weight, and increasing physical activity may help some men regain sexual function.
Avatar f tn This is correct, both are obstructive, however emphasema is not reversable, quitting smoking is the ONLY thing that you can do to alter the future of the disease.
196595 tn?1213841312 Being in the 70's you are in the mild range. And if you quit smoking and exercise and take care of yourself you will live a long normal life. COPD is not reversible but you can slow the progression to that of a normal non smoker. When they first told me mine was in the 70's I couldn't eat or sleep, I thought I was going to be gone in the next 5 years. It seems like I only found all the scary articles and post to read. Don't let it do that to you.
213398 tn?1202670474 The good news is that the obstruction to air flow is significantly reversible with the administration of a bronchodilator. The post bronchodilator results are within normal limits, including the DLCO (diffusing capacity) and that means that you have not yet sustained a great deal of permanent lung damage. But, with continued cigarette smoking, it will be only a matter of time, until permanent/irreversible damage to your lungs occurs.
Avatar m tn You may think it is easier for a woman to have this dysfunction and so we tolerate the medication for a longer period of time. Not so. It was hell. But, when I leveled out....once a period of two and a half years and another about a year, I was changed. Please stay on your meds, no long term effect from lamictal as far as everything I read and hubby and I are happy now. So talk to your psych and tell him/her what is going on.
Avatar n tn Hello Dear, Ethambutol may produce decreased visual acuity which appear to be due to optic neuritis and to be related to the dose and duration of treatment. The effects are general reversible when administration of the drug is discontinued promptly. Ethambutol may produce constriction of visual field central and peripheral scotoma, and green-red colour blindness which may be associated with retrobulbar neuritis .
Avatar n tn Are the possible psychological side effects of Keppra (psychosis is worst case senario) totally reversible if the drug is stopped?? Any insight would be appreciated!
Avatar n tn , persistent dizziness, fainting, unusual fatigue), bluish discoloration of the fingers and toes, numbness/tingling/swelling of the hands or feet, decreased sexual ability, reversible hair loss, mental or mood changes, trouble breathing, cough, unexplained or sudden weight gain, increased thirst, increased urination. Reference: Link: http://www.medicinenet.com/metoprolol/article.htm Discuss these symptoms with your father's doctor.
Avatar m tn This side effect is possible but not common...in some cases it is not reversible..better to ask your doctor for other medications that you can feel safe with and not have to worry about this...ask him re Paxil, or Zolfot or Celexa,...there are many.
Avatar m tn First of all, it should frighten you enough to want to quit smoking. Your risk of heart attack, stroke and amputation are probably greater than 75% over your lifetime if you continue on this path. With regards to the irregular heart beat a holter monitor is a portable cardiac device that one wears for 24-36 hrs to monitor your heart rate and any irregularity. It might be the first step to evaluate this process. think about if this is how you want to live your life?
