310788 tn?1251499896 I notice it especially when he is in deep concentration or when he is deeply focused in play. His speech is understandable to me, but can be hard to outside listeners. He also has glasses because one of his eyes is crossed inward but the glasses are straightening them out. He has a very hard time concentrating his attention for periods of time. His older brother is 9 and he also drools VERY excessively. He is also a bit hard to tame and very wound up when we I see him.
Avatar n tn If you are a woman, the signs of a heart attack are different than men. Signs to look for are indigestion, dizziness, nausea or vomiting, weakness, fatigue, pain between shoulder blades, chest discomfort, shortness of breath. Sometimes the only sign is shortness of breath. For CHF right side heart failure swelling in legs and abdomen. Left side heart failure fluid backs up in the lungs producing either a dry cough or a white phelm production.

Avatar m tn Then there is the mechanical part of communicating our language and that is speech. Problems with speech can include just trying to get the words out, pronouncing the words, the tonal quality of our speech, using emphasis and inflection. Problems with speech can be from weakness or spasticity of the muscles of our mouths, throats and vocal cords. Or it can be with the way our brain tries to direct the speech.
Avatar n tn My friend's first baby had a cleft palate. She wasn't able to nurse or take a bottle and had to have a feeding tube until her surgery was complete and healed. She's thirteen now and perfectly fine although she does have some speech problems but she also has a lot of ear problems too so I don't know if her speech is caused by the cleft palate or just coincidental.

9771188 tn?1405907831 Has anyone had problems communicating? I have problems with finding the right word to use. Sometimes I use I will get so frustrated. My family and friends say that I repeat myself a lot. I do know this, especially when I am excited, happy or upset. I completely lose my train of thought. I used to be able to speak in public, and train people. This has been difficult for me. Am I alone? I have battled through much worse demons than this, but I don't want to give up now.
Avatar f tn Other symptoms may include spasticity (sudden, involuntary muscle spasms) in the hands, feet, or legs; foot dragging, and speech problems due to involvement of the facial muscles. The disorder usually begins in the legs, but it may also start in the tongue or the hands. The disease-which scientists believe is not hereditary-progresses gradually over a number of years, or even decades.
Avatar f tn Sorry you are having these problems. In addition to the last post, I would add: Have you been beeding due to your fibroids? Do you know why you are anemic? Also, you could have had allergic reactions to the transfusions. In general a viral infection will cause a lowering of your white cells. As said above there are other things that cause low WBC count. If you are anemic, it may be due to all the cysts and so forth in your genital tract/intestinal area that is making you bleed..
Avatar f tn But from age 3+ he started repeating TV/DVD dialogue and also uses phrases, words, accents etc from films and TV in his speech. Now I would say his speech is 50/50 his own and delayed echolalic speech. He finds it harder to find the words to put together a sentence himself. It is easier for him to use a phrase he has already heard and use it correctly in its emotional context. So, for example, if his father were to tease him, he might say 'I'm going to send you to Timbuktu'.
Avatar f tn I'm just curious as to what the chances are that my son or any other children I have will have autism. I was diagnoised with autism when I was younger. I now have a 15 month old son. He doesnt seem to have any signs of it now as he respons to his name when it's said he points at things he can say a good many words but mostly just babbles, he walks and he acts pretty normal I guess, I'm just wondering what the chances would be of him having it?
Avatar m tn (I know some are going to say anxiety, but i reiterate, this has been a constant thing since june, im still like this even when completely relaxed). My heart has been thoroughly checked as well so nothing going on there.
Avatar f tn Some genetic mutations are not inherited, but are somatic, meaning that the genes change during your lifetime and don't get repaired. People who are in these categories do have some choices about preventing and treating breast cancer, but they need to know for sure if they have those genetic mutations. People with a family history of breast cancer or ovarian cancer may carry the mutated BRCA gene.
Avatar f tn I do have this diagnosis, it runs in our family...I am 47 and am trying to remain as active as possible, per my neurologist's orders. There is no cure and my balance and coordination are affected. This seems to be especially noticeable when I am tired (I swing shifts as a nurse at a hospital from day to nites in the same week)..just looking for suggestions to slow the progression of this disease..any ideas??
Avatar f tn My 4 year old granddaughter has obvious speech problems. It is very hard to understand her. Her speech patterns have also changed. She used to call her mother "Mama-ee" and now she calls her "Mahee". She cannot pronounce her own name, Meaghan. I want my daughter to get her a hearing test and she says she does not think she has a hearing problem.
Avatar f tn I'm no doctor but -- 1 out of 100,000 people get ALS, I believe somewhere in the range of 20% or lower get bulbar onset ALS. Combine these with the fact that you started getting problems with your speech after Botox and I would say don't even think about ALS at all. I hope this helps a little. You should go see a doctor for slurred speech anyway whenever you can.
Avatar n tn it depends on if your fiances problems are hereditary. I they are, then there is a chance you could have children who develop these, or similar issues as they grow up. but i will say this: I have anxiety issues that are hereditary, and I have four grown childern who show no signs of problems. If I were you, first i would talk to a doctor, and ask him if your fiancee should stop taking these drugs while trying to have children, as well as about what you have heard here.
