Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis symptoms how long

appendicitis

Avatar m tn Does it make sense to have classic appendicitis symptoms that go completely away for a few days at a time over a 3 month course? What has prompted my question is that I had two episodes yesterday, one in the morning and a very severe bout in the evening. I keep thinking this will just go away especially when I'm pain free and I forget about it.
Avatar m tn I never took the antibiotics. The next day the local GP said no appendicitis. After 15 days still the symptoms continued occasionally and a went to a Gastroenterologist who advised to take Taxim-O an antibiotic. I took it for 5 days. I took an ultrasound of the abdomen and the doctor said no appendicitis. But I pestered him with questions about my symptoms. He then took a screening CT in the lab and gave the report as Chronic appendicitis with 7mm thickness.
Avatar m tn There is no test to prove chronic appendicitis. Some of the symptoms are lower right quadrant pain, sometimes it's sharp, sometimes it dull, bloating mucus in stool, pain with or after intercourse, trapped gas or stool in the appendix area will double you over. WBC's will be somewhere from 9-11, not high enough to indicate an acute form of appendicitis but a chronic form of it.
Avatar f tn m surprised your doctor just gave you drugs for an appendicitis-- true appendicitis almost always needs surgery. Have you had your appendix looked at since then? Ask for an ultrasound or a colonoscopy. In some really rare cases, an infected appendix can lead to infection elsewhere in your abdomen/pelvis, including muscles outside your digestive tract (which might explain the pain when running).
Avatar f tn You may be able to tell if it's appendicitis. Have her push on the area that hurts in her lower right. If it hurts more. It SHOULDN'T BE appendicitis. Most of the time appendicitis will find relief with pressure and (sadly) extreme pain when pressure is released. Also, I WOULD ask for an ultrasound because that's how my first ovarian cyst rupture presented!
Avatar n tn I was hospitalized on Friday night with sever pain to my right side the doctors have stated its either the start of appendicitis or a torn ligament. Awaiting test results. I'm on complete bed rest until I get the results if it is appendicitis what will they do and is there any chance it could hurt my baby. Also got the results of my last blood test which indicated my liver function was down.
Avatar m tn My MAJOR concern is appendicitis - as I know how important it is to get the appendix taken out before it bursts. Given that my pains are not concentrated in the right and not that intense, does it seem unlikely to ne appendicitis? Could appendix symptoms drag on this long (it's coming up for a week). The pain has got no worse and if anything seems to be improving. Also, would appendicitis symptoms usually go after eating a meal? I'm extremely anxious and worried right now.
Avatar f tn Shortly before my 30th birthday I was in the ER with what I thought was appendicitis. They did a CT scan and much to my embarrassment I was just really constipated. Can you imagine how embarrassed I was? The doctor did mention I had a few complex cysts on my ovary. I thought maybe thats why I felt so terrible. After the news we had the cysts removed. I was hopeful that this was going to give me my energy back. No go.
Avatar f tn I have all if the appendicitis symptoms ( bloating, diarrhea, constipation, severe abdominal pain followed by vomiting) but aren't these all pregnancy things to? I'm 41/2 weeks.
Avatar f tn I've had an appendectomy 8 months ago, but simptoms came back a month ago: pain in the right of my belly, which migrated in the LRQ after about 2 weeks, bloating, pain in the right side during bowel movements, right leg gets a little numb sometimes. Did a CT scan 1 month ago, it revealed an ovarian cyst of 3.5 cm on my right and a 5 cm one on my left. The pain on my right is persistent and the symptoms are really bad for such a small cyst.
Avatar n tn I think I would take him to the ER if you are not able to see his physician. Someone should see him today.
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm a 19 year male college student, and I have had this problem for several years. At random moments, usually pretty rarely, I will get a sudden, sharp pain in the lower right area of my abdomen. It will cause me to panic for the brief second that it lasts (i'll clutch it etc..), because it feels really severe. It always goes away though, and since it's been a problem I've had for a long time, I don't really think it's a big issue.
Avatar n tn I have recently been experiencing right side pain and mentioned it to my GP. He sent me for a CT which confirmed mild appendicitis. Don't have typical appendicitis symptoms other than pain and some nausea. My doc says to get it taken out. I went for a consult with a general surgeon and he said he isn't 100% that's my appendix since I don't have all the acute symptoms. He said there is no such thing as chronic appendicitis and my doc says "oh yes there is". UGH...
Avatar n tn //www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/appendicitis/symptoms-causes/syc-20369543. This does not really sound like that issue though. How are you now?
Avatar n tn Appendicitis is an infection in your appendix. It really should not matter what you eat. What type of symptoms are you having?
Avatar m tn t seem to be a consistent thing that causes the pain (again the pain is mostly in the groin and right on the side) how much of that is a chance at appendicitis? I've had two CT Scans in the past year and would really prefer not getting another one if at all possible (after all, the last two showed nothing, and I'm sick of spending that much money and subjecting myself to that much radiation without something serious being found).
Avatar n tn You are correct that this is not an acute appendicitis, but there is a possibility that this is a chronic appendicitis. This is almost surely not an ulcer of the rectum as you don't have any of the same symptoms.
Avatar m tn Around February 1, I got a stomach bug (all 3 of us in the household did) and I ended up having long lasting symptoms for some reason. Three of us had diarrhea and one had with with vomiting. Everyone else got better from it. I never had vomiting, just diarrhea. We had black, tarry/watery diarrhea for a number of days. I went to the ER for massive pain in the Solar Plexus region during the time when I was basically over the diarrhea and getting back to normal again.

Avatar n tn Hello! I have joined this community in the hope that someone can help me! I am a female, 25 years old and I have been suffering from abdominal pain for years. The pain is usually in the right side, mid-way between my bellybutton and my hip. At times the pain is sharp and stabbing and causes me to double over in pain - I would give it a 7 out of 10 for intensity. Other times the pain on my right side is dull and aching, and sometimes this is replaced with a burning sensation.
Avatar f tn i rushed him to the ER, after 3 hours of waiting the doctor ordered some xrays and notified me that my son had walking pneumonia. i asked the doctor how is it that my son has no symptoms of pneumonia and still have a positive xray, he told me it happens. - My question here is can a appendicitis be confused with pneumonia, and can pneumonia cause abdominal pain? After i left this hospital my sons symptoms worsened and i rushed him to a childrens hospital, where is fever had spike to 103.8.
