Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis symptoms gas pain

appendicitis

Avatar f tn According to WebMD diagnosing appendicitis can be tricky: "Symptoms of appendicitis are frequently vague or extremely similar to other ailments, including gallbladder problems, bladder or urinary tract infection, Crohn's disease, gastritis, intestinal infection, and ovary problems. The following tests are usually used to make the diagnosis.
Avatar m tn For the past few days I've had pain right above my hip but its not severe and i don't have any other symptoms but I'm very scared right now because i think i have appendicitis i don't want surgery...my mom who is a nurse said that it cannot be that because the pain i describe isn't severe and that i should lay off the coffee that i drink.
Avatar f tn t aware that laying on their right side can cause gas to build up in your colon and form a gas bubble. The way the colon is shaped and with the gas rising upward, when laying on the right side it gets trapped in the ascending and transverse sections of the colon and is not as easily expelled as it is when laying on the left side. I recommend trying some OTC treatments like beano, gas X, prilosec, prevacid, Mylanta, mylox etc. for a few days.
Avatar f tn I am on vacation across the country. I woke up at 2:30 am with bad stomach pain (top middle), bloating, and gas. I went the the ER about 6 hours later and received indigestion meds. I felt much better outside of mild abdominal discomfort from gas still. Now the next day my lower right stomach is pretty tender, nowhere else, just lower right side. Should I be worried about appendicitis? Could it be tender from extreme gas and bloating? Thoughts?
5441042 tn?1368009773 Well, there can be many causes for this pain such as muscle pull, colitis, IBS or trapped gas. However, since it is in right side and in appendix area, it is important to rule out appendicitis immediately. Please consult your doctor regarding this or go to the ER. Hope this helps. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
1003498 tn?1263919526 at first i though that it was my birth control because my periods have been all out of whack, but as of the past few days it has been strictly related to gas and bowel movements. i have pain 24/7, but i get really bad sharp pains right before a bowel movement or passing gas. i can't sit, laugh, cough, stand, bend over, or anything without it hurting. i get no relief from heating pads. my bowel movements are pretty normal which leads me to believe that i am not constipated...
Avatar f tn Hi, the symptoms you described could be due to appendicitis, that’s when you have pain on the right side just above the pelvis and you may also have referred pain around the umbilicus (belly button). The other symptoms for Appendicitis are fever, nausea, vomiting and malaise. The other causes for pain could be urinary tract infection, pelvic infections, renal colic and sometimes bowel infections.
Avatar n tn If you're pain isn't better or its worse, dial 911.
Avatar f tn ve looked into appendicitis symptoms and wondered if I should be seen soon, or only if the pain returns?
Avatar m tn I took plan B on the last day of my period which was december 25th and starting on the 29th i had soreness in what seems like right above the ovaries, a pain on each side of my abdomen. I also have this pulsating around my belly button and it will shoot down to the right side then give me back pain. I also have headaches and have gotten easily hot and overheated during the night. I know im not pregnant because ive testes and JUST came off my period and it was normal. Could this be my apendix?
Avatar n tn I've had a lot of stress and anxiety for 5 years now (I'm a teen) so I'm not that surprised when my intestines are doing weird stuff like roughly shifting my food around, giving me either constipation or diarrhea, waking me up in the morning because I need to go to the bathroom... But this evening I started having pain on the right side of my belly, a little higher than my bone but still pretty low.
Avatar f tn thank you so much!
Avatar f tn Hi, thank you. Yes, I don't think it is appendicitis due to the fact that I haven't felt any symptoms of severe nausea or vomiting. The pain also hasn't increased or changed very much in the last 24 hours. It does hurt a bit when I put pressure onto it, but only ever tightly dull, and it isn't so sharp or severe that I have to jar my hand away. I haven't taken any medications and there haven't been any symptoms of fever either.
Avatar m tn Also, I would ask for a blood test to rule out appendicitis, sometimes this can be a sign of beginning appendicitis, you certainly do not want it to get worse.
Avatar m tn It could be a combo of period and gas! Gas is terrible painful at times, but combining menstrual cramping with gas is super painful! I've had it. I'd eat some bland foods (if that helps) and get a hot water bottle to ease the cramps.
Avatar f tn I have lower right abdominal pain, it seems to get very bad when I start to urinate, and also feel a lot of gas and pressure in the rectuM? what could this be?
Avatar f tn I have no fever or anything like that, nor am I having the typical rebound pain or any pain in my right lower stomach. It seems that the pain moves when I change position if that makes sense. Usually when I sit it moves in the lower area of my belly button, and when I lay down it moves to the upper area of my belly button. My stomach is constantly making gurgling noises and it feels like there are gas bubbles inside of me. I am really, really scared that something serious is going on with me.

Avatar f tn Lower right quadrant abdominal pain is also a sign of appendicitis. If you are laying on your back and press on the sore spot and you get a sharp pain when you press and it even hurts as you release pressure it could be appendicitis. Your pain may be unrelated to your pregnancy. Did they rule out appendicitis or even ovarian cyst or maybe even gas?
Avatar m tn There is no test to prove chronic appendicitis. Some of the symptoms are lower right quadrant pain, sometimes it's sharp, sometimes it dull, bloating mucus in stool, pain with or after intercourse, trapped gas or stool in the appendix area will double you over. WBC's will be somewhere from 9-11, not high enough to indicate an acute form of appendicitis but a chronic form of it.
Avatar m tn So, I was just woken up with some abdominal pain in my lower right abdomen... When I sleep, I lay face-down, and doing so makes the pain come back. Sitting up, standing, and laying on my back are fine. But, there is a sort of pressure in the area. It's not really strong or painful, but it's there. Other than that, I am burping a lot for no reason - At time of writing the last time I ate was nearly 10 hours ago.
Avatar m tn Well 2 years ago I had an appendicitis and i was operated to take it off.. Before that I rearly had any gas problems, but now after my operation, I started getting filled with gas.. Uptill the last month or so it was normal but now, i wake up bloated full of air, and sometimes i get sharp pains in my sides, i drink water (not exagerated but i drink), and i remain like this throughout all the day.. I went to the doctor and he gave me something to get rid of the gas ill have..
Avatar n tn 3% mean while my liver enzymes were elevated for about 8 months and so I had a liver biopsy done while gall bladder was removed, pathology test results show slight inflammation to liver so I must repeat blood test within 3 weeks. I’m not sure if this pain I now have may be gas or my appendix???
Avatar n tn It really doesn't sound like an appendicitis because of the type of pain, the pain isn't getting severely worse, there are no other symptoms, and an appendicitis would show on a CT scan (not like black blobs).
Avatar f tn I have not vomited or had diarrhea nor do I have a fever. Do I have appendicitis or is it just gas?
Avatar f tn I went to the er one time with the same problems you described but with constant pain (I could not stand) and the thought of being constipated never crossed my mind because I had been going just not enough. They gave me a script for gas x and told me to take a gentle laxative with senna in it and I was feeling better by the next day.
