Appendicitis symptoms come and go

Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis symptoms come and go

appendicitis

He felt around for my hernia, took note of my symptoms, and said that my hernia was basically healed and that he thought that I could have appendicitis. This came as a surprise. He said that if the pain got any worse within the next day or two, or if the pain didn't go away at all, then we should go into the ER. The pain got slightly worse and a lot more frequent within the next 2 days so we decided not to risk it and go into the ER.
But you do need to get to the root of your problem, and I would start by ruling out the appendix. Appendicitis doesn't go away, and if it were so inflamed to cause your peritonitis then why wasn't it removed?
Do you feel like you have appendicitis? Is that why you're asking? If so, you should go in and get it checked out. I wish you well.
I'd been suffering from a fever, lower/midline abdominal pain on my right side, and severe diarrhea for several days, and was told by my doctor to go to the ER to rule out appendicitis. Besides my signs/symptoms, the only abnormal finding was a slightly enlarged appendix in the ultrasound and CT. I was told to keep an eye out for things, and to go back asap if things got worse- which they likely would within a reasonably short amount of time.
Taking all 3 of those made my entire stomach cramp horribly and gave me severe headaches. So I stopped and those symptoms went away---I'm just still left with the lower R side pain. Like I said, I don't trust VA docs. They are absolutely horrible!!!!
When I was a in the ER an older doctor that had worked in the ER for eons gave me the statistics on how many people go to the ER with low right quadrant pain and have appendicitis and the appendix is removed . And how many people actually are sent away because the scan does not show that it is NOT inflammed enough so a large number of people sent away return to the ER months later with APPENDICITIS!
I hope you have called nurse, and she told you to come in. I had appendicitis, and had mine removed. Not fun. Mine felt like the severest menstrual cramps imaginable, but since I was young, and not having periods yet, my mom knew it was appendix. She had hers out too, so can happen in families. I couldn't straighten up, running a fever too, Please get this checked out! Hugs & Prayers Maggie Wanting birthday party no excuse!
The swell and pressure has gone down a little, re-risen, and then gone down a little again. I think I have the symptoms and was about to go to the ER, but then when I went to the bathroom, I received my period. However, I was expecting my period to come around Saturday, May 10th, so it would only be 2 days easy. But it's making me think rethink the ER! Are these pains normal for periods? I would greatly appreciate it anyone knows anything that could help my situation to comment!!!! ASAP!

I didn't have a lot of the normal symptoms either. Actually, what started it was I had Appendicitis 3 years ago and when they did a Cat Scan at that time they noticed I had a small mass in my small intestine (in the terminal ileum). They went ahead and took my appendix out and decided to just keep an eye on this mass since we didn't really know what it was. So I had Cat Scans periodically to check on it and it never grew that next year so we stopped checking on it.
This message is to majic Have your doctor speak to you about the possibilty of kidney stones. I was just diagnosed w/kidney stones and have been dealing with the pain on and off for 10 years. It really is hard to get some doctors to actually listen, take you seriously and put the ENTIRE picture into perspective.
S13 is from Kansas, so she could pick me up and we could head up to Flint and go out and get smashed and then puke the entire next day (LOL, LOL) - no, we couldn't do that!! S13 - Couple more days for you and then you start all your treatments - by summer hopefully you'll be feeling all better - I'm praying!! MS - Please press on with your doctor and I'm praying for you as well! My best......
) They sent me home. Since then I still have abdominal bloating and fullness. The pains come and go. I still have frequent thirst and urination. My periods are very short and do not come around the same time. I am very light for 1-2 days versus what used to be extremely heavy for 5-7 days. I felt like this might be gastro-related because I do have what feels like excessive gas at times. Yet my family history makes me feel like this is ovarian related.
Probably related to the above, I've also had problems with EDEMA in my legs, feet and occasionally hands for years. It used to come and go, but in the last year the only time it's really gone was when we went to Morocco and I got a tummy bug! Without running any tests the dr said it was idiopathic, end of subject. I have also have a sort of burning or pinching pain in my UPPER LEFT abdominal quadrant.
Excuse me for butting in on this ongoing discussion, but I stumbled onto your posts and started reading them, and boy, do a lot of your symptoms sound like ME! I have been so ill that I've been in and out of the hospital and they don't know what is wrong. But, someone on another forum said it sounds just like intermittant cyclical Cushing's disease, and I'm seeing a doctor tomorrow at the University Hospital.
help me I have the same terrible pain in my right side myright side as I type this. It seems to come and go.
right temporal pain( off and on) right eye heavy, feels like pins down the sides of my neck, then up my chin and whole face, abdominal tenderness, pausing in chest, arithmias, abnormal sensations through body, back and chest go numb, lots of pain through body, also groin goes numb off and on, at times my whole body feels cloudy, like im going to drop...very shaky on the inside, foot to groin pain tenderness, hurts to touch( left leg) knee pain front and back...
They come within second and I never know when they will come. I also get really sick and I sometimes throw up. I went to the ER the second time I ever got the pain, but at the time I didn't have insurance so they didn't want to run any test and told me it was kidney stones and would pass. Well it turned out it wasn't and never did. So that began my journey of seeing many, many doctors. I've had every test done that I can imagine.
forgot to add this mimics appendicitis,I know with ibs my symptoms would come and go,but with ovarian cancer dont symptoms gradually get worse and more painful? is it possible to be in early stage and dr's havent found it? im getting scared!
I took jaybay's advice and requested all my medical records and copies of every procedure and test I have had and currently changing dr's since mine basically told me its ibs/stress/ and its all in my head. If all your gastro test come back normal, you might want to go to a gyno..many gyno issues mimic bowel problems and can cause bowel/stomach problems.Hang in there,Prayers!
I think zmonster that that could be a very deadly way of thinking since atypically the symtoms of a heart attack can come and go over a period of time. It is not just the issue of having all of the earmarks of having a heart attack and then those symtoms suddenly subside because that is basically what can kill. It is recognizing the red flags and then rather then being safe then sorry making the call to EMS before it becomes critical to the point of no return.
She prescribed Celexa, however, I never got started on the Celexa because a day after seeing her. I had to go to the ER and found out I had appendicitis. Some what relieved that doctors had finally figured out what was wrong with me, or so I thought. I had the surgery which was probably the most stressful time of my life, first surgery, but made it through thinking now I can start feeling better. I never started feeling better.
With my pregnancies I always got sick promptly at 7 weeks, and everyone, of course, is different! If you were my patient, I would ask you to come in for a transvaginal ultrasound to confirm dates and viability. By the time you are six weeks, we should be able to see a gestational sac, and yolk sac, and hopefully even a fetal pole +/- heart beat. Certainly if you have any red bleeding, you should call your doctor. I hope all goes well!
My labs came back negative for appendicitis and I have been referred to a gastroenterologist my doctor. I am going first go for my routine well woman exam before I go to the gastroenterologist.
diarhea, burning cramps below my navel that later moved to my right side and would come and go, and fatigue. I went to the doctor several times and was misdiagnosed three times b/c my white blood cell count was not very elevated. A laproscopy finally revealed that my appendix was swollen to 5 times its normal size and needed to be removed.
You could ask to be referred to a urologist or urogynocologist. My symptoms are similar and come and go whenever like that too, and antibiotics dont work, nor do they give them to me because the urinalysis is neg. In the meantime, my urologist gave me vesicare to help with the bladder pressure/urgency, and said to try sitting on a hot water bottle once in a while. I also take uristat or azo standard (both over the counter) for the irritated bladder or whenever I feel like I have a uti.
I had a cat scan done and found out it was chronic appendicitis causing the symptoms. My appendix did not just go out all of a sudden, it was a gradual process and just kept getting worst over the years.
I ask if I should be making arrangements since he's been saying this for some time and am assured they are taking care of it. Because of my symptoms I ask for another ultrasound to check my gallbladder. She argues and then gives in. Went for ultrasound 2 days ago and when they hit the gallbladder, liver and pancreas, that is where the pain was. I also call my rheumatologist telling him that I am having a tough time.
Thank you so very much, Life360!!!!! Ill go to the doctor Tuesday for more blood work. And maybe go back in February for my 16 week conclusive. Thank you all so much for all you do in this forum. Before this I never knew anything of this sort even existed. Nice to know that there is support out there when you need it! Everyone, please feel free to add any comments. If nothing else, the reassurance is so comforting.
