I was told by my doctor that she was just leaning toward constipation, but I would think the pain would be more of my abdomen and not just pain under my rib cage that radiates to my back. I have thought about the pain being caused by appendicitis, because it just feels like something is just going to explode. I have mentioned in a comment to another member that this pain has been since September and my doctor at the VA is making it so hard for me.
And is it in the lower part of your abdomen down toward the groin, or higher up toward your rib cage. I think appendicitis sometimes hurts in the right lower part of your abdomen, while gallbladder pain hurts on the right also, but it is usually a sharp grabbing sensation. Try not to panic. you will get to the bottom of it. Do you have an internal medicine doctor?
I think my child has appedicitis, but the medical community tells me no. Her pain started really 3 weeks ago, in the center, below her rib cage. The pain then moved to her belly button (about 1 inch to the right and 1 inch down). That was the first trip to the ER (initial blood work, sonogram, rectal exam) - nothing. We followed with additional blood work to rule out colitis, ulcer, crones, etc., and tried some Nexium.
For a little over a month, I have had mostly right-sided abdominal pains right under the rib cage, a dull ache on the lower right side of my back, and periodic burning sensations in the lower abdominal area (left and right). The pains are worsened when sitting or standing for a long period of time, and get a little better at night when I sleep. I had a CT scan with contrast b/c I was afraid of appendicitis, and nothing unusual was found.
I have been having a pain just under my right rib cage. Does not hurt when I am just sitting still. If I lean forward or sometimes breath in and out it hurts. I actually can put my finger on the spot that hurts. Tender to touch. I don't have insurance and lost my job Christmas Eve, going to the Doctor and cost of test would really be hard right now. Any idea what could be going on?
I'm having pain on my right side, it feels like it is on my rib cage. The pain comes and goes. It was less frequent this morning now it feels like it is happening more and more. Is there a live person I can speak to?
ve also felt the pain in my upper right abdomen about where the last rib in the rib cage is, occasionally in my mid back, occasionally near my belly button area, and even occasionally in my left flank area.
Pain is my only symptom. I'm passing stool okay, no pain or burning with urination, no blood in my stool or urine (that I can tell anyway), no nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, although I believe I was mildly constipated within this time.

do i need to be worried about appendicitis at this point, i'm freaking out and doubting the PA i saw before
When an endoscopy was done, esophageal damage was found, and I was told that was causing the pain under my right rib cage. When I look at anatomy pictures, this makes no sense to me. It hurts when I press on it, but also when it hurts on its own, I feel like I need to place pressure on the area to make the pain stop.
With both pains, in the lower and upper right quadrants, curling into the fetal position feels best, with my hand on top of the place where the pain is.
I have had a sharp pain every night now for about a week, on the right side next to my hip bone. It doesn't usually affect me during the day, but when I'm lying down, or just sitting for a semi-long period of time it starts to hurt again. Two or so days ago, it hurt for quite a while, during the day. I believe it was just after walking for around ten-fifteen minutes which also addresses the problem below.

I recently had a CT scan w/ contrast to determine if I had appendicitis which in fact I did. I had surgery just a few days ago. When the surgeon came to discharge me he also noted a "shadow" on my liver when reviewing the CT scan. For about a month now I have been having pain under my rib cage which I thought was my liver but wasn't sure. The surgeon wants me to go for a follow-up MRI. Should I be very worried.
I keep getting this sharp pain under neath my right rib cage but to the side right above my hip bone. Its not a constant pain, it comes and when it does it last for about 2secs then goes away and about an hour or so later it reappears. I dont feel bad, nothing, just having these pains. I dont know what to do.
My current issue started about 2.5 months ago. I started getting a pain on my front left side, below my rib cage. The pain seemed worse while sitting down, but wasn’t intense, so I ignored it for a while. 4 weeks ago my pain seemed to grow into a burning sensation and became really painful to touch or move. The burning sensation spread up my chest, around my side and up my back (all on the left side). You couldn’t touch me, and cold air killed me.
The day after i visited my doc, the pain seemed to shift to just my right side, especially a dull, squirmish-feeling pain right underneath my right rib cage. This discomfort is pretty constant, along with intermittent dull achy pain through my right side and right lower back, even down to my groin.
These feelings did not stop, and 3 days after seeing my doctor, i went to the er. They gave me an iv, and put me through a CT scan as well as did blood work.
If the pain is located just under rib cage it may be your pancreas. It hurts really bad, so bad it will bring tears to your eyes. It will last around a week and almost drive you insane. It does not let up. I suggest seeing Doctor for blood work and pain medication. I ended up in the emergency due to length of constant pain. I am right now having a flair up but I know more on what to do. Bed, short breaths and rest. 3 days it moved to left side and is now gone. Part of the disease. I guess.
I woke up from a dead sleep Fri. night. It felt like my right lower front rib cage was bruised. It is now Tues. and I still have a lot of pain. Not so bad that I can't deal, but it is a constant pain, it hurts more if I stretch up or bend over. It now seems a little swollen where the pain is (right where your ribs start to curve up to form around the diaphragm). I have had almost constant diarrhea or pasty b.m. for many months now. I had my gallbladder removed 20 yrs. ago.
Beginning on the right lower side of your abdomen, beginning massaging in small upward circles. Keep going up to under your rib cage, across the top of your abdomen and then slowly down the left side (always in small clockwise circles). Then just massage the entire abdomen in larger circles from right to left.
my daughter came up with what it seems is the same pain issue you have. We have been to just about every Dr. you can think of, and still no answers of what is causing the pain. she has been out of schoo for 2 months now because of the pain. So far all test are showing normal.

It really doesn't sound like an appendicitis because of the type of pain, the pain isn't getting severely worse, there are no other symptoms, and an appendicitis would show on a CT scan (not like black blobs).
Hi i was woken out of my sleep with this horrible pain right below my right rib cage it hurts really bad to breathe even worse with a deep breathe i have to take really small breathes. But its still a constant pain breathing just makes it worse. Whether I'm still or moving it hurts. After getting out of bed I sat on the couch when I stood up the pain shot across my upper stomach does anyone have any idea what this is. This is my third pregnancy never had this happen before.
The bloating hurts and almost makes me look pregnant. I occasionally have sharp pains under my rib cage. I have no fever and am under a normal amount of stress. I am just curious is this something I need to be concerned about or if it was maybe something I ate, again, and just need to do what I did last time and let it pass? Any opinions?
