Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis pain on the left

appendicitis

Avatar f tn The last couple days I have had a light uncomfortable kind of pain on my left side inbetween my hip and belly button, it feels as though my bladder is "full" when ever I go to the toilet... and it doesn't seem to relieve itself... is there something wrong? Is their something with my kidneys?
Avatar f tn Do I have appendicitis?? Or is this just a stomach bug?? How long does it take for the pain to move from the upper stomach to the lower right abdomen??
Avatar n tn Then the pain gets very sharp and spreads to the left side and lower left of the back, i get hit by a sudden feeling of weakness and have to lie down. What are the possible causes of this pain, and could it be linked to my other symptoms? p.s. i am fully aware that this is not a diagnosis, it is just to know wether or not i should get this checked by my GP. p.p.s i am male, 20, 5ft 10", and weigh 10 1/2 stone and otherwise healthy.
Avatar f tn Im 10 weeks pregnant and got my appendix removed yesterday (saturday) they told me about the risks with the anastesia and baby, but they also told me that if i left it in and it ruptured id lose baby for sure. Anyone else have their appendix removed and had a perfectly healthy baby?
Avatar f tn As soon as she left the bedside, I told my ex I still thought it was appendicitis. The surgeon got there and heard the story, saw the white count, and examined him. He said it was gangrenous appendicitis and started an IV. Then after 6 hours or something he took out his appendix. So yeah, it can be confusing sometimes. The thing they most often confuse it with is diverticulitis. That can be even worse than appendicitis though.
Avatar f tn Left lower quadrant pain cannot be due to appendicitis as this is on right side. Either your son has swallowed the nose bleed and that is causing problems or there is a gut pathology such as IBS or Crohn’s or even celiac disease or lactose intolerance. The cause of nose bleed must be found out. It could just be heat or overactivity or bumping head or nose. Else it could be nasal polyp, a tumor, a foreign body or even allergic rhinitis. Please take your son to his pediatrician without delay.

Avatar m tn I know you will say I need checked out and I agree in my brain, but the other part of my brain wants to know if these long pain free periods over the course of 3 or so months without a perforation are typical of appendicitis issues? So, in summary, I am curious about the long course of this and the pain free periods. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Is there any way I have chronic appendicitis that is coming and going? The pain is usually in the area of the appendix. Also as a side note, I had right side testicular pain that started up around the same time the abdominal pain started years back. Not sure if this is related as the pains seem to happen usually at different intervals.
Avatar f tn Did a CT scan 1 month ago, it revealed an ovarian cyst of 3.5 cm on my right and a 5 cm one on my left. The pain on my right is persistent and the symptoms are really bad for such a small cyst. My gynecologist didn't give me many explanations, so I've searched for my simptoms online. This way I found out about stump appendicitis and I got mortified it could be that. Could the CT scan have missed it? All the other organs seemed fine.
Avatar m tn t seem to be a consistent thing that causes the pain (again the pain is mostly in the groin and right on the side) how much of that is a chance at appendicitis? I've had two CT Scans in the past year and would really prefer not getting another one if at all possible (after all, the last two showed nothing, and I'm sick of spending that much money and subjecting myself to that much radiation without something serious being found).
Avatar m tn Abdominal pain) The pain may be minor at first, but it becomes more sharp and severe. Your appetite will be reduced and you may have nausea, vomiting, and a low fever. As the swelling in the appendix increases, the pain tends to move into your right lower abdomen. It focuses right above the appendix at a place called McBurney's point. This most often occurs 12 to 24 hours after the illness starts.
Avatar f tn He told me that if the pain persisted, within two days, I should return to the clinic or to the ER, on account of it could be appendicitis. I am eighteen years old, broke, and under the care of my parents who refuse to return me to any doctor. I doubt I have appendicitis on account of my stomach has had pain for at least a week, and there's been no sign of any rupture.
Avatar m tn went to the dr, saw a PA who pushed on my stomach area and i had no pain, now that i'm home there is pain next to my hip bone on the right side and a slight pain in my upper right abdomen, what the heck is this?
Avatar m tn They bite into the gut wall when they grow or mate, and can lead to appendicitis on the long term. the pain is usually right or left or even underneath the belly button, and feels like a pinch with a needle or, if more severe, a hot knife. Get a scotch tape test done, best in the week after full moon (they are more active then). Good luck.
Avatar n tn hi i recently had my gall bladder taken out and got immediate relief for about 1 month of symptoms but now i have pain in my upper left side radiating down to my left side and i have indegestion and some nausea again. it is almost like my gall bladder was never taken out. i had the light ran down my throat and into my stomach at the time of surgery with no ulcers or sign of any problems. what could this be now? what is the sign of appendicits?
Avatar n tn I think I would take him to the ER if you are not able to see his physician. Someone should see him today.
Avatar f tn Hi there been a little worried since this morning not sure how I should go about it. Last I went on drinking binge so woke up with pretty horrible hangover my body feels like it got ran over by a bus also have lower back pain feels like it's on my pelvis and radiates to my hips basically feel terrible today nothing surprising.
Avatar f tn Back pain can be due to having fecal material in the large intestine pressing on nerves in the area of the spine, but that discomfort can also be due to an inflammatory process due to any one of a number of issues in the same area. The sensation of having something to evacuate is very real, but it can also be due to a 'back-up' of fecal material. Straining isn't going to help. You don't want to compound whatever is going on with a nasty case of hemorrhoids.
Avatar m tn These 2 symptoms only represent 2 points or less out of ten on the Alvarado score, which is used for diagnosing appendicitis. 7 points are necessary for an acute appendicitis dx. My opinion, get this evaluated asap.
Avatar f tn I think my child has appedicitis, but the medical community tells me no. Her pain started really 3 weeks ago, in the center, below her rib cage. The pain then moved to her belly button (about 1 inch to the right and 1 inch down). That was the first trip to the ER (initial blood work, sonogram, rectal exam) - nothing. We followed with additional blood work to rule out colitis, ulcer, crones, etc., and tried some Nexium.
Avatar n tn I know this post is REALLY old, but it came up in a search. I am having the same problem you did, Natalie. I've had abdominal pain for a week now and thinking I had appendicitis, went into the emergency room earlier this week, only to have them say I was fine and send me home. The doctor did say I had a "fat" appendix. Anyway, the pain on the right subsided slightly and, starting yesterday, I had the same pain but worse on the left side.
Avatar f tn Yesterday I woke for work and sat on the couch. Noticed mild pain in my lower left side to bend over or take a deep breath, even take a long stride with my right leg. Went to the ER to have it checked out. They did a blood test and a urine test. Nothing unusual they said. Proceeded to do a CT scan, in which they said the results were normal. Nurse followed up by telling me to take miraLAX because I was just backed up.
Avatar m tn m a 19 year male college student, and I have had this problem for several years. At random moments, usually pretty rarely, I will get a sudden, sharp pain in the lower right area of my abdomen. It will cause me to panic for the brief second that it lasts (i'll clutch it etc..), because it feels really severe. It always goes away though, and since it's been a problem I've had for a long time, I don't really think it's a big issue.
