Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis pain after surgery questions

appendicitis

Avatar m tn I had chronic appendicitis 2 years ago. They did a normal surgery on me (not laproscopic) and after the surgery I get pains from the scarred area upto my right upper thigh area and the right side of my groin. It's a shooting pain which feels like I'm being pricked with needles. I've been to many doctors, they doon't seem to be able to actually diagnose precisely what the problem is. What can be done to cure it? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.
Avatar n tn I am an otherwise healthy 39-year old male I would say, a bit of a hypochondriac, hence this post …Back in 2004 I had surgery for appendicitis and after my surgery the strangest thing happened….The center-outer part of my left thigh started burning.
Avatar n tn It was early stage appendicitis. The next day after surgery I was feeling expected pain where the incisions were. I took Norco painkiller. After a couple of days I noticed high heart rate when lying down, couple of times it grew so uncomfortable that I had to walk around a bit to feel comfortable. This has been now going on for almost 5 days and I feel almost perfect during the day, but when laying down at night and sometimes even getting up in the morning, it is disturbing.
Avatar f tn For the last five days I have been having pains in my back, kidneys, right side, right side abdominal pain, pain near my belly button, pelvic pain, pain right next to my hip bone, headaches, and nausea. I'm still able to pass gas, and eat, walk and jump without pain, and when my stomach is pushed on there is no pain. I have been to the doctor multiple times for pains like these, I seem to get them each month.
Avatar m tn Expectations (prognosis) If your appendix is removed before it ruptures, you will likely get well very soon after surgery. If your appendix ruptures before surgery, you will probably recover more slowly, and are more likely to develop an abscess or other complications.
Avatar f tn I had something like that done this morning n was cuz of kidney stone surgery but was Lazer they also told me if I didn't have done I could go on previous labor at my 19 wks as whether wait to pass the stones by myself cuz of the pain n medicine
Avatar f tn today morning at 5 i had swear pain i went to the doc, they asked me for blood test, urine test n ultrasound, urine test showed some sign of appendix but ultra sound didnt, they sent me home n gave some pain killers! now i am developing the same pain again after about 20 hours, so i want to ask can it be appendicitis even if ultrasound doesnt show it?
Avatar m tn The only way to know for sure what is wrong is to go to the doctor and have an MRI or CT scan. That will give them a better idea of what is going on. No one can know for sure what is going on, but that will give them a better idea.
Avatar f tn Exactly 4 weeks later I developed appendicitis and had it removed via laparoscopic surgery, the surgeon said it was "messy in there". I have had no other symptoms suggestive of HIV. My concern is the appendicitis was due to lymphoid hyperplasia (swollen lymph tissue) caused from a viral infection (HIV) given it occurred so soon after exposure. It seems a bit out there to consider them related however I do see it as a possibility, but was unable to find any studies to confirm.
Avatar n tn Hello and welcome to the forum. We're sorry you are having this situation after your surgery. Please know that swelling and bloating can last for several weeks after surgery. It's more common with open surgery but can result during laparoscopic surgery as well. Here's an older post here at medhelp in which someone had bloating for 4 months after surgery. https://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn I have sharp abdominal pain to the right of my abdomen about 3 fingers width. It has been there for months and I mainly feel it upon touch. Lately I've felt bloated. I saw an obgyn and ovaries and uterus have been ruled out. My pcp wants to send me for a CT scan of the abdomen. Is she thinkining hiatal hernia possibly caught early?? I am thin, don't always eat the best, not pregnant (my son is 8) . She says its in the area of the ileocecal valve.
Avatar m tn I saw a doctor on Wednesday and he said its probably gallstones and not appendicitis at all...so I drank some apple juice and within a day the majority of the pain disappeared. But I still have slight pain where my appendix is, so I went to the doc again 2 days later and saw a different doctor who said that its not appendicitis and that its probably associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (ive had it since i was born practically).
552053 tn?1273331741 s blocked, but sometimes that blockage can be released so then you get the pain relief. Most of the time, however, chronic appendicitis will, at some point, become accute appendicitis and will require surgery. I would ask your doctor to check you for appendicitis- have an ultrasound, blood work, x-rays, whatever is needed to rule this out - the last thing you want is to end up having to have emergency surgery and/or your appendix bursting. Best of luck!
Avatar n tn I had laparoscopic surgery 2 months ago to remove my appendicitis. Now I have a bloated belly after I eat. Right side of my belly hurts, too. No diarrhea, no vomiting, a little constipated even though I drink lots of water and coffee. Went back to my surgeon and had an ultrasound 2 weeks ago plus a blood test to see if there's an abscess. Fortunately, everything was normal. But the pain and bloating are still there. Thank you in advance for your help.
Avatar f tn Did the doctor give her parents a briefing after her surgery? Did they do a frozen section during her surgery to look for malignancy? The final pathology can take a week or more to be complete. Any complex ovarian cyst has a chance of being cancer. It is unlikely to be a malignancy, given her age. Her parents should ask the doctor any questions or concerns. Usually, conceiving is not a problem with one ovary.
Avatar n tn When I had appendecitis I woke up in pain with a lot of abdominal pressure and was admitted for surgery that day. It felt like I was really constipated or something (sorry TMI), and was nauseous. It sounds like the pain you are having is more likely related to the pcos. I have had ovarian cysts in the past and it felt a lot like what you are describing. I'm not an expert, just my personal experience.
Avatar f tn t eat anything be because she immediately throws it right up. She recently had lower back surgery the doctors prescribed her pain medication pills. Soon after she has healed from her back surgery she began to suffer from chronic stomach pains. She has been in and out of two different hospitals and they haven't been able to find anything wrong.
Avatar m tn I never took the antibiotics. The next day the local GP said no appendicitis. After 15 days still the symptoms continued occasionally and a went to a Gastroenterologist who advised to take Taxim-O an antibiotic. I took it for 5 days. I took an ultrasound of the abdomen and the doctor said no appendicitis. But I pestered him with questions about my symptoms. He then took a screening CT in the lab and gave the report as Chronic appendicitis with 7mm thickness.
Avatar f tn Finally they did surgery and it was appendicitis! My obe apologised to me that I had to suffer so long. Fortunately my baby was ok. Now, your case may not be appendicitis, but the pain needs to be properly considered and closely monitored. Are you having fever? If so this is an alarm signal! Do follow up with your doctor and be persistent.
5154898 tn?1374773319 OK, I've been worried sick since about 4 days ago. It all started when i had a muscle spasm beside my belly button (right side), it lasted a whole day. I woke up the next day with a dull pain in the same spot, nothing really painful, just enough to worry me. Now, my lower front (right side), my right side and back on the right side has been aching.
Avatar n tn CT gave me the answer that I was looking for....appendicitis. A few hours later and I was out of surgery. As far as the central stomach pains, I was told by the ER Dr. that appendicitis often causes central upper abdominal pain......
Avatar f tn m surprised your doctor just gave you drugs for an appendicitis-- true appendicitis almost always needs surgery. Have you had your appendix looked at since then? Ask for an ultrasound or a colonoscopy. In some really rare cases, an infected appendix can lead to infection elsewhere in your abdomen/pelvis, including muscles outside your digestive tract (which might explain the pain when running).
Avatar m tn my appendicitis size is 7mm in my report but i am getting pain for every 3 months, the pain last only for 2 to 3 hrs and it decreased rapidly after any vomting or motion. should i use antibiotics or surgery is required.
Avatar f tn White count was high and X-ray showed probable appendicitis. Admitted to hospital and CT was done. No appendicitis but a 6mm Appendicolith was found and referral to general surgery next week.
Avatar f tn While in the ER they took a ultrasound and found out that I had appendicitis. I was in surgery later that night. I was doing very well after surgery and was able to get back to skating within a week. I started going back to ballet classes a couple of days ago and since then have been feeling really nauseous. I went back for a post OP today and they said that everything looked fine and that I should be able to go back to any physical activity that I wanted to.
Avatar n tn The next day, the stabbing pains had been replaced with a dull, intermittent (from every three minutes to every four hours) pain. I called my doctor and he asked me to come and see him. After seeing him, he referred me to A&E to see the surgeons about possible appendicitis.
