Appendicitis or kidney stone pain

Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis or kidney stone pain

appendicitis

Avatar n tn Another very possible cause for one sided flank pain is kidney stone. While most kidney stones will pass on their own, Some can be large enough to block the flow of urine from the kidney to the ureter causing something called hudronephrosis. It's probably just best you go get checked out. Feel better soon.
Avatar f tn I had something like that done this morning n was cuz of kidney stone surgery but was Lazer they also told me if I didn't have done I could go on previous labor at my 19 wks as whether wait to pass the stones by myself cuz of the pain n medicine
Avatar n tn The first time I had a kidney stone was just like that. I was lucky and it was obviously a pretty small one and passed very quickly. The second time I wasnt so lucky. Its very possible it was a kidney stone and you were lucky and it passed right away. Did you have any increased urination right before that or a feeling like you had to pee and couldnt? The feeling of nausea with the pain is really what makes me think that is what it probably was.
Avatar n tn I have been getting a severe pain in the my right lower stomach.I have had it three days now an it getting worse.Im not sure if its a kidney stone or if its from weights i've been lifting.:(.Or wat it is..
Avatar n tn There are various causes of right lower quadrant abdominal pain, including but not limited to appendicitis, IBS/IBD, kidney/ureteral stone, bladder infection, and hernia, as well as female-specific conditions, such as pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis, ovarian cyst, ovarian torsion, and ectopic pregnancy. Making the correct diagnosis requires a combination of clinical history and physical examination, as well as laboratory and imaging tests.
Avatar f tn I am being treated for the infection. At the same time as the appendicitis I went to the emergency room for kidney stones. I had lithotripsy done for that 1 week ago to remove the stone. Over the past year I have experienced the following symptoms... I have been to many different docs and the emergency room and don't know what to do. All of these symptoms may not be relevant, but I thought more information the better.
Avatar f tn Since you had a kidney stone earlier, this should be looked into. Also it can be due to Crohn’s disease or IBS if you have other gut issues like gas, diarrhea or constipation. Possibility of ectopic may not be there in your case, but should be ruled out if you miss your periods. I am sorry but it is difficult to pinpoint a diagnosis on net. If possible get urine examination done to rule out infection, blood in urine. Also try and consult a doctor. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn It sounds like you have a right sided abdominal pain due to kidney stones! Do not panic. You will be alright. Kidney stone pain causes such a tremendous pain but will not cause immediate fatality. This often presents as sudden onset right loin or side pain, very severe in intensity (many describes this as the most severe pain they have ever felt), it spreads down the side to the lower right abdomen and groin, cramp like, with associated nausea and vomiting.
Avatar m tn For a while now, maybe a week and a bit, I have had LRQ pain. It seems to move around, from the appendix area to the groin, and wraps around to the back and kidney area. As well, a mix of constipation and then diahrrea. I'm really quite terrified of it being appendicitis or worse yet, peritonitis. I have seen two health professionals, one at a clinic and the other in the emergency room, both of them saying its nothing, perhaps just a pulled or strained muscle.
Avatar f tn Not to scare yu but I had this recently nd I couldn't take the pain anymore so I went to the er they thought I had a kidney stone but my kidney was swollen nd I had an infection..yurs is probably nothing mine was on the right side it started from my back nd then to the front..
Avatar f tn You may be experiencing some sort of problem from your surgery or you may have a kidney stone, but it would be very foolish of me or anyone else to say it is this or that under the circumstances. Please call your Dr. and discuss your pain with that person. The Dr can request a cat scan if he/she feels it may be a kidney stone, or anything else it could be, but they will determine exactly what is going on for you and quickly, I'd think.
Avatar n tn m not vomiting now but the pain is so bad and it even hurts to breathe in or cough or move...is this appendicitis or something serious..?? It didn't start around my naval it started in my sides/flank area and more intesified right side of abdominal area...
Avatar n tn There are various possibilities of a right lower abdominal pain radiating to the back. Stone in the kidney or ureter or an ovarian cyst usually presents like this. So also it can be a pain of appendicitis, where the appendix is placed behind the intestine. Ultrasound, CT or MRI of lower abdomen or whole abdomen would have ruled this out. The other possibility you can explore is Irritable bowel syndrome. The walls of intestine go into spasm often and cause sudden excruciating pain.
1821676 tn?1317251820 The doctor said this could mean she passed the stone or that it had stopped moving. They gave her a prescription for strong pain medication and sent us home. The next day she did experience the pain again, and I gave her the medication. That was the end of it for her. They did say if you have them once you are at higher risk for getting them again. Do you have any rash that goes along with this? Sometimes shingles presents itself with side and back pain along with a rash.
Avatar f tn The scan showed a 5mm blockage in my ureter, which they assumed to be a kidney stone. They gave me 4 different Rxs and sent me on my way. Since then, I've had an ultra sound and an XRay done which both show no sign of a kidney stone. However I've still had pain that came and went from my side, down lower, and now feels like it's right at the bottom of my urethra. It has been this way for the past few days and just will not pass.
Avatar n tn Well i can rule out a kidney stone because i don't have any troubles urinating or nausea and i can also rule out an ovarian cyst since that's only in females. I'm just not yet convinced that it's appendicitis because the sharp pain only lasted a few minutes. Maybe even only a minute. The pain was pretty bad when it did happen though. I just don't think it was really anything. I have no other symptoms.
Avatar m tn yeah who knows..we're all just guessing here.. she could be totally right, i've heard the pain is pretty high if you have appendix issues but it does go all the way down the pelvis. That's why I was wondering about kidney stone or something like that passing. Or some weird IBS issues you're having.
Avatar f tn Kidney stone pain can vary. Might still be that even if its a different kind of pain. I guess it COULD be his appendix but the right flank? Not exactly the right location for the appendix. I've heard of liver pain presenting in the upper right part of the back. Does he do a lot of drinking or drugs by any chance? Either way he definitely needs to get it checked out by a doctor. Might be Xray or MRI time.
Avatar n tn They were still concerned with the pain in right lower quad so a CT was done-results apendix stone. the surgent wasn,t concerned about that and sent home after 2 days in hospital with normal activity . My concern is he still having low grade fever and lower right quad pain ( increased pain with eating and some activitys) My question is should the appendix be removed due to potential appendicitis in the future due to blockage causing inflam.
Avatar f tn Sounds like a kidney stone. Or pyelonephritis you need an IVP study done. Sometimes the pain is referred to other areas & is known to radiate. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Hi, A small kidney stone may pass all the way out of the body without causing too much pain while a larger stone may get stuck in a ureter, the bladder, or the urethra. This can block the flow of urine and cause great pain and may cause damage to the kidneys. The kidneys will not function well and may not remove the wastes of the body, leading to build up in the blood and further damage. Have this evaluated further by your urologist for proper management.
Avatar f tn I get blood in my urine when the stone is passing from kidney to ureters this is also when pain is at its worse a stone could also cause a uti and or kidney infection.

1003498 tn?1263919526 well i would have thought about appendicitis except that i have had a scare with appendicitis and it turned out to be a kidney stone but it was low right side pain. this pain i have been experiencing lately is all over it goes from around my ovaries and female organs to right below my belly button where my intestines are. the first few days i thought it was female pain as i have had many cysts on my ovaries. it felt like i was on my period kinda but worse.
Avatar f tn Hello, The cause of pelvic pain could be due to kidney stones, pelvic infections, urine infections, twisted ovarian cyst or rupture of ovarian cyst, appendicitis or any other referred pain due to other organ infections. You should get it evaluated from a gynecologist. Pelvic inflammatory disease causing infection should be ruled out. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
