Appendicitis on left side

Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis on left side

The pain is usually in the right side, mid-way between my bellybutton and my hip. At times the pain is sharp and stabbing and causes me to double over in pain - I would give it a 7 out of 10 for intensity. Other times the pain on my right side is dull and aching, and sometimes this is replaced with a burning sensation. Occassionally I have pain just to the left of my bellybutton which can be quite sharp (as though someone were prodding me with a needle).
I have been have sharp pain on my left side on and off for at least 5 months when I intially got it I was sleep and went directly to the er room and told them I thought I was having appendicitis and the doctor told me know he says the pain alwas starts on the right side and I know thats not always true it can start onany side than float around. Yesterday my right side was hurting really bad and when I start walking or coughing it got worse i had to stop doing what I was doing.
Flank pain (where the kidney is), if that is what you are describing, above the hip bone on the side, would make me think you might want to check on the right kidney, maybe get a urine test. Or, if below the kidney, again, it might be gas pain, which can come and go as the pockets of gas move along. pain in the upper right abdomen- could be gallbladder or bile duct, liver, gas in the transverse colon (common place for it to collect), costochondritis (if in the rib cage area up there).
I've been having a sharp to dull pain on my lower to upper abdomen for the past three days. The pain radiates from my belly button to the left side of my abdomen than back to my ride upper and lower abdomen. I've also been experiencing a gurgling stomach, excess gas and loose stool.
I had a chiropractor appt and he was poking around and when he poked on that lower right side I about came off the table! The pain doesn't move too much....just stays there. I'm still having diarhea. The VA doc gave me Imodium, Bentyl and an anti-biotic. Taking all 3 of those made my entire stomach cramp horribly and gave me severe headaches. So I stopped and those symptoms went away---I'm just still left with the lower R side pain. Like I said, I don't trust VA docs.
This past Sunday, I was sent home from the ER with a diagnosis of early appendicitis. I'd been suffering from a fever, lower/midline abdominal pain on my right side, and severe diarrhea for several days, and was told by my doctor to go to the ER to rule out appendicitis. Besides my signs/symptoms, the only abnormal finding was a slightly enlarged appendix in the ultrasound and CT.
I didn't have a fever, was only slightly nauseous, my white blood count was normal, and the pain was more on the left side of my naval and radiated up through my heart and into my left kidney. I thought I was either having a heart attack or some kind of other organ problem. After hours of tying to tough it out I finally went to the doctor. She checked for pain in the right side and it hurt much less than the left side when she pushed around so she sent me for a cat scan.
get this pain on my right side like right next to my bellybutton , kidney & gallstones where ruled out i had an ultrasound well 2 & a pelvic ultrasound i mostly get this pain when im constipated!

Now I am worried about you. Keep an eye on things. Trust your guy (no pun intended) and go in to get checked if the pain continues. Gas pains go away. Infectious pain doesn't! Be the smart lady that you are and head to the ER if the pain doesn't go away.
I know I may be overly worried, but I am having a cramping in my left side that seems to linger for a few hours at a time. At first I was freakin out b/c I swore I must have appendicitis, but then I found out that that pain would be on the right side. I think maybe it is ligament pain. it is right under my rib cage, it feels like a cramp you get in your side when you are running.
I have been having lower left side pain for three weeks now.I went to the Dr.'s office and the ER and had x-rays and CAT Scan and lab and all the said was that my white blood count was high.Any suggestions of what to do next or what it might be?I'm tired of the pain! The Dr.'s don't know what it could be.No nausea,or vomiting. And no fever.
I delivered a healthy baby girl vaginally with no complications. on 11-3-09 I developed a sharp pain in my lower left quadrant. (MY lower left, not yours if you were looking at me) The pain became more and more severe and I ended up in the ER. I was put on Morphine and told that I had a C-Diff infection, although this was proven to be untrue. I had a CT that showed Diverticulitis. They have me antibiotics to treat what they called an acute diverticulitis attack.
I was told that in April for another er visit, put on antibotics, pain never left. The pain mimics appendicitis, but with having lap in Aug,dr said it looked it possible for bacterial infection of vagina to be this painful and spread? I have not been sexually active (not in this pain..last thing on my mind is sex haha) and I'am std free.Could repeated vaginitis infections without treatment lead to pid and be source of lower abdominal pain? it travels down to my hip and thighs.
They bite into the gut wall when they grow or mate, and can lead to appendicitis on the long term. the pain is usually right or left or even underneath the belly button, and feels like a pinch with a needle or, if more severe, a hot knife. Get a scotch tape test done, best in the week after full moon (they are more active then). Good luck.
I have the same weird sense on the left side of my belly button butt kinda lower like above my hip bone.. i get it alot.. sometimes more than others but have felt it for years since I lost my daughter 2 years ago in 2008 (she was a still born). Dr's told me it was phantom movement but I can't see it still happening 2 years later. The dr sent me to have a pelvic exam where they use a probe to look at insides by putting it inside..
it hurts to the left of my hip bone on my right side. They removed the gall bladder because they said I had biliary colic The pain is really low and a sharp pain especially when I breathe.
I have been having the same problems. I know the gall bladder is on your right side, but it can cause allot of pain on the left side. My doc said they play off of each other. I am having sharp pains under my left breast which would be my upper abdomen, under my armpit, down my left arm, around my chest area, trouble breathing, in between my shoulder blades, and my lower back. Also getting the dizziness. Just had a hide a scan done and they tell me my gall bladder is not functioning properly.
I have a what appears to be a mole on the side of my scrotum where it connects to my inner thigh, had it since i can remember, no pain, it is slightly raised, i have shown an std specialist doctor and he simply said it was nothing, and to not worry about it, i have been tested for everything except HPV and Herpes, all negative, however i was observed and there is no trace. I have also been to a dermotologist who said i have the option to freeze it, however to avoid scarring i told him not to..
Oh, also...the appendix is on the lower right side. You didn't have an elevated white blood cell count, did you? it could be appendicitis-- and if so, should be treated immediately. Appendicitis will hurt all the time, and not only when you press on it. Another way to tell is if you lift your left leg and try to hop on your right leg it will hurt really bad (and may impossible to do). Best wishes.
it's kinda odd cause it's a bit of a stabbing pain that starts on my right side, sometimes left, (about the height of my belly button) and eventually travels downward (hugs my side area) to my pelvis. it usually takes about 2-3 days for it to go away. it always feels worse after I empty my bladder too. For whatever reason, my instinct is to drink a lot of water. I've noticed it happens when I don't get enough water and probably to much caffeine.
I went and saw a OBGYN and did an ultrasound and she said I have ovulated on my left side and it was the reason for left ovary pain, like I had a little cyst a normal one. But she said everything looked good. That was done December 9th. December 16th I just saw the doctor and had to do urine, blood, and an ultrasound done on my stomach and still waiting for the results. But I just would like to know what it could be? is it possibly some sort of appendicitis or just IBS?
my 12 year old daughter ocassionally complains of pain in her left side up to her belly button area. she indicates the pain level is between 5 and 6 on a scale of 1 to 10.
Every time I finish eating, I can feel this slight pain near my stomach on the right side... According to my friends its my appendics, but I did what they told me to raise my left and right leg, but i dont feel anything, the pain only happens after every after eating after slight body movements.
The burning sensation spread up my chest, around my side and up my back (all on the left side). You couldn’t touch me, and cold air killed me. No rash, just the burning and the pain (sharp at worse phase). (side Note: 1 week into the burning episode, the weather was cold and windy, so I started taking Valtrex, for fear of a cold sore). The pain was so bad I couldn’t sleep and was in constant pain, so I ended up at the ER (my Doctor was in the middle of a move).

Right/diagonally above my hip. Im 12 weeks pregnant with twins. I have tried moving my body pillow and blankets to position myself more comfortably... but can still feel it. pain at first was a 6/7 (small pain1-10being horrible ).. now positioned its at a 2 then a 6/7 again. Kinda like off and on... Should I be worried?
Since then, I have had small similar pains at random. I have felt pain in my right and left side now. I thought at first it may be a urinary tract infection. How serious is this? Should I go to a doctor?
I hope you can help. For the last few weeks I have had on going right side abdomen pain which is radiating to my side, back and also down to m groin. Im a 23 year old female. I went up to m GP about a month ago and was prescribed many tabs including anti spasmic tabs, but they didn't seem to help. I noticed that I was peeing a lot and sweating alot. A little over a week ago the pain became worse and I went to the A&E here I got blood and urine tests.
