Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis emergency

appendicitis

Avatar f tn This time it lasted almost two hours but was much worse than last night. I almost went to the emergency room but now it has subsided. I still feel slightly nauseous and a bit tired. Anyone have any insight?? Would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I think I would take him to the ER if you are not able to see his physician. Someone should see him today.
Avatar f tn I have all if the appendicitis symptoms ( bloating, diarrhea, constipation, severe abdominal pain followed by vomiting) but aren't these all pregnancy things to? I'm 41/2 weeks.
Avatar m tn 4. Appendicitis goes with nausea, vomiting and raised leukocytes in the blood. Appendicitis is painfull at any time you press on area. Bouncing sign is present: lye down on the back and press deeply sopmewhere on your lower LEFT abdomen, then release the pressure quickly. In peritonitis or appendicitis you should feel a sharp pain on the LRQ area. Peritonitis would also show marked inflammation in the blood.
Avatar n tn I have had my gallbladder removed lapo 2 weeks ago… I’m NOW expercing this sharp pain on my right lower abdominal area by my belly button, what are my chances of having appendicitis after gall bladder surgery? I want to avoid the ER, doctors and GI’s I went through so many test and so many trips to the ER during the period of 3 months to finally find out my gall bladder was only functioning at 1.
Avatar m tn He then took a screening CT in the lab and gave the report as Chronic appendicitis with 7mm thickness. Ficolith inside the appendicitis and advised to remove it whenever you feel free but not an emergency. The Gastroenterologist was not convinced and he asked me to take a Contrast enhanced CT. But the local doctor said it is not necessary and i don't have any acute episode and there is no such Chronic appendicitis.
Avatar n tn If you believe you are experiencing appendicitis pain, please call your doctor immediately. If s/he is not available, a visit to the ER. Vomiting with appendicitis is usually due to an emergency situation, so you don't want to wait until that happens. Be well.
Avatar n tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! It might be an appendicitis. If it was just a stomach virus causing the pain he probably would have had diarrhea or vomiting. Even though the appendix is located more to the right, the pain can something be in a different place. I would recommend taking him to the ER asap and asking for a CT scan with contrast of his abdomen. Good luck.
Avatar m tn Hey just had Acute appendicitis and had to have emergency surgery to remove appendix. Now I had a lump under my skin just above my elbow that is below my skin. it seems as though it is attached to my vein or just by the muscle. It does not hurt but I am worried sick it could be something serious.
5154898 tn?1374773319 OK, I've been worried sick since about 4 days ago. It all started when i had a muscle spasm beside my belly button (right side), it lasted a whole day. I woke up the next day with a dull pain in the same spot, nothing really painful, just enough to worry me. Now, my lower front (right side), my right side and back on the right side has been aching.
Avatar f tn The pain first started at my appendix area. I had all the symptoms of appendicitis. I went to emergency and they ruled out appendicitis. I had Constipation, gastroenteritis and IBS. Now, the gastroenteritis is gone, but the rest isn't. I still have the same symptoms from the beginning. My appendix area feels bloated. It now hurts so bad, I have difficulty and pain standing, walking or even sitting. When pressed on the appendix area, it still feels pain.
552053 tn?1273331741 My ex husband had the same thing that would come and go for a couple of years and then it became a constant pain that started to intensify. He finally gave up and went to the ER and was diagnosed with appendicitis - his appendix actually ended up bursting as they were removing it. Before that happened, I had no idea you could have what is considered "chronic" appendicitis, but his doctors said yes, it's actually more common than you would think.
Avatar f tn I ended up having appendicitis and needed emergency surgery. So, if it's something you're worried about I'd definitely see a Dr.
6785011 tn?1384780177 Hi, the symptoms you described could be due to appendicitis, that’s when you have pain on the right side just above the pelvis and you may also have referred pain around the umbilicus (belly button). The other symptoms for Appendicitis are fever, nausea, vomiting and malaise. It could also be a premenstrual symptom. The other causes for pain could be urinary tract infections, pelvic infections, renal colic and sometimes bowel infections.
Avatar n tn I wouldnt wait too long with a pain like this , how is he doing now, always in my opinion if in doubt get a child checked out.
1699550 tn?1320286617 You can have years and years of CHRONIC appendicitis attacks and then suddenly have an emergency one that actually becomes more of an emergency because of the years of chronic (and sometimes constant) inflammation of the appendix. This makes it much more easy for it to rupture, which is highly dangerous. The doctor who doesn't want to remove your appendix - is that your pain doctor? Your spine doctor? your Primary Doctor? A gastro doctor?
1995033 tn?1334163103 Sorry this is not pregnancy related but I have no one else to talk to. My boyfriend has been having abdominal pain n high fever. He has a history of diverticulitis. The doctors are running test because they think it's either a diverticulitis infection or appendicitis... I am 38w n extremely stressed n worried as is my boyfriend :'( please pray for us. We are at the hospital I wrll give birth at just incase...
Avatar m tn I suspected appendicitis. We went to the emergency room where they did an ultrasound and a CT scan. The scan showed a peculiar result - the appendix appeared somewhat inflamed but her intestines had also gotten partially twisted. The doctor wasn't sure if it was appendicitis or if it was just the torsion that was causing the pain. If it was the torsion, then it could become untwisted over time.
Avatar n tn chronic involvement of appendix (many a times ultrasound misses this as the appendix in such cases is hidden behind loops of intestine and typical symptoms of appendicitis are absent), involvement of kidney and inflammation of your intestine. Lower right abdomen pain is commonly due to appendicitis. The pain, can at times come and go and not give the classic picture.
361454 tn?1312054856 I recently was pregnant and started getting odd cramping sensations that I had never felt before, it ended up being appendicitis, I miscarried I think due to appendicitis, and just had an emergency appendectomy. I'd say follow your gut (no pun intended) For me the "sensations" did not feel "right". When in doubt go to the ER. If I would have, it's possible I could have saved my pregnancy-also possible that it was doomed from the beginning.
Avatar f tn ve gone through last week to help ease my fears. Not so long story short, lol, last Wednesday 6/3/15, I had emergency, exploratory surgery via laproscopy. They weren't sure if it was my appendix or something else causing me the horrendous pain I was in. The CT scan and ultra sound just didn't show enough. I complied because in order for a healthy baby I need to be healthy. With that being said, I was still/am petrified. It ended up being appendicitis so the surgery was necessary.
Avatar f tn I am being treated for the infection. At the same time as the appendicitis I went to the emergency room for kidney stones. I had lithotripsy done for that 1 week ago to remove the stone. Over the past year I have experienced the following symptoms... I have been to many different docs and the emergency room and don't know what to do. All of these symptoms may not be relevant, but I thought more information the better.
Avatar f tn This morning I woke up with a pain in my lower right abdomen. Its a constant dull pain, about a 4 or 5 on the 1-10 scale. The main pain is about directly 2-3inches to the left of my ASIS. It feels a little bit better when I'm sitting up instead of laying down. I have been going to the bathroom alot more than normal, but the stool is pretty normal, not diarhea.
644974 tn?1312758070 how far along are you? I have been having this HORRIBLE dull pain on my lower side which Dr's on tuesday brushed it off as round ligament pain, I've been suffering with it for a few days now specially when I get up too fast. Its HORRIBLE. I'm 19 weeks. However, it could also be something more serious like appendicitis, so i'd get a second opinion, they should have given you a u/s at the emergency room to rule out appendicitis or kidney stone or something serious like that.

Avatar f tn It hurt so bad I thought I was having appendicitis. So I went to the emergency room and they tested my urine and did a ct scan. They said that the ct scan was normal but they did find blood in my urine and they suggested referred me to go see a doc in a week and sent me on my way. So I went to see the doc and they did a urinalysis and they said there was white blood cells in my urine but no bacteria grew so that meant that there wasn't an infection.
