Avatar n tn She was admitted for a severe lower abdomen pain. She was tested for appendicitis, possible fibroids, cysts, etc. all of which turned out negative. After an overnight stay, she was discharged without any diagnosis. Eversince then, she has gained weight tremendously (about 15lbs heavier now). And she often has tiny white worms in her stool. After some over-the-counter de-worm medication, she recovered.
Avatar m tn Hi, appendicitis as such is more of a clinical diagnosis. In chronic appendicitis what we see may just be thickening of the bowel wall or appendix on a CT scan. But usually the image findings are correlated with clinical symptoms and blood tests. If an acute infection the neutrophils are raised and if due to tuberculosis, the lymphocytes are raised in blood counts.
Avatar f tn According to WebMD diagnosing appendicitis can be tricky: "Symptoms of appendicitis are frequently vague or extremely similar to other ailments, including gallbladder problems, bladder or urinary tract infection, Crohn's disease, gastritis, intestinal infection, and ovary problems. The following tests are usually used to make the diagnosis.

Avatar n tn I have recently been experiencing right side pain and mentioned it to my GP. He sent me for a CT which confirmed mild appendicitis. Don't have typical appendicitis symptoms other than pain and some nausea. My doc says to get it taken out. I went for a consult with a general surgeon and he said he isn't 100% that's my appendix since I don't have all the acute symptoms. He said there is no such thing as chronic appendicitis and my doc says "oh yes there is". UGH...
Avatar m tn 4. Appendicitis goes with nausea, vomiting and raised leukocytes in the blood. Appendicitis is painfull at any time you press on area. Bouncing sign is present: lye down on the back and press deeply sopmewhere on your lower LEFT abdomen, then release the pressure quickly. In peritonitis or appendicitis you should feel a sharp pain on the LRQ area. Peritonitis would also show marked inflammation in the blood.
Avatar m tn One thing that I will like to say is that sometimes diagnosis of appendicitis is tough because of the position of the appendix and other conditions which may mimic appendicitis like Meckel’s diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease and kidney diseases. Moreover, other conditions which I have mentioned like irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease(Crohn’s disease) and kidney diseases also have to be excluded.
Avatar m tn Hello, My case can look rather particular in fact it is the second time in ten years that I have to undergo surgery due to ovarian cysts ruptures on my right ovary and every time the doctors in ER first think of an acute appendicitis which make them run a quantity of useless tests while I am in pain and makes me even more doubtful and worried.
Avatar f tn when the pain became too severe and went to the ER for assistance. He was given an antispasmodic and pain medication. It was not appendicitis, of course. The pain continued. Fecal sample was negative for parasites. His doctor took urine, blood, and had a CT scan performed yesterday. The WBC was "slightly elevated", as it was a year ago, and lymph nodes in his abdomen were slightly enlarged. His abdomen was tender to pressure in one location yesterday.
Avatar n tn Hi For about ten hours now, I've have a dull ache that comes and goes in my lower right abdomen. It's not currently severe, just a dull ache for about five seconds every two or so minutes, not continuous. Anybody else experience this? I read that it could be a symptom of IBS/IBD, which would make sense as I'm currently being tested for those conditions. I'm just terrified that it's early appendicitis as I've never experienced it before.
Avatar f tn Last night I woke up around 5am very intense sharp pain immediately on top of belly button. I was worried about appendicitis but after about 30 mins it subsided... Today it has been more of a constant pain each time I breathe deep I feel a sharp twinge in that area. I also seem to be having spells of nausea come and go. I just forced myself to eat a sandwich and the pain seems to subside after eating. I no longer feel pain each time I breath ?
Avatar f tn After a CT scan they determined I had appendicitis along with a mass on my ovary, which my ovary was doubled in size. They determined I had a 3cm hemorrhagic cyst with small calcium particles on my ovary. Nothing further was said or done about the cyst. The pain somewhat subsided after my appendectomy but I still have pain and I have a brownish/red discharge and I find I cant hold my bladder. Could I have a more severe condition?
Avatar n tn Thank you for taking the time to review my question. My daughter just turned 17. Its been a rough winter health wise. She had pneumonia in November 2011. They did a complete cbc with diff at that time, along with westergren, and mono test , all normal except 970 monocytes (13%). Since then she has had regular illnesses about twice a month..sore throat, headache, muscle aches, always tests negative for strep.

Avatar f tn I went to hospital with severe lower abdominal pain. After several tests, they noticed a cyst or tumour (radiologist's words exactly) on right ovary, and swollen appendix and elevated white cell count. Surgeon opted to not to an appendectomy as he felt that I have a cyst which leaked fluid causing irritation to appendix. I was not prescribed any antibiotics or painkillers. The pain has since eased off - now sporadic.
Avatar n tn In gall stones the pain start in the upper middle or upper right abdomen, and is it brought on by greasy or fatty foods.Pancreatitis can be caused by alcohol consumption or gall stones. Diagnosis is by abdominal ultrasound and serum amylase and lipase levels. Treatment is started after consultation from a gastroenterologist. The morning stiffness and the pain in the joints is not related to the abdominal pain.It may be due to fibromyalgia or arthritis.
Avatar f tn She got concerned about my appendix, did CT, ab ultrasound, vag ultrasound, then upper ab ultrasound after fluid was seen. She started me on a serious dose of anti-biotics until she could review all the scans. Today she said I have bilateral complex cysts, blood in my tummy and some free flowing complex fluid. I've been on bed rest since Sunday and will stay in bed until I go back to her next Wednesday to 're-evaluate' ...
458511 tn?1206465658 I spent Friday night in the er for suspected appendicitis, after 13 hours found out I have a complex cyst on my left ovary. I have never had problems like this before, and really didn't ask any questions. They have referred me to a gyn surgeon. What questions should I ask him to find out the specifics of what is going on? Ovarian cancer does not run in my family, though every female over 45 has been treated for breast cancer.
Avatar m tn Hi, appendicitis is usually a clinical diagnosis. This is correlated with imaging studies and blood tests. The pain in appendicitis generally starts around the umbilicus and moves to the lower right quadrant of the abdomen. Now you can consult a general surgeon or a gastroenterologist for this problem. As we do not maintain a directory of doctors we may not be able to help you. You can talk to your insurance agents they may be able to direct you appropriately. Regards.
Avatar m tn Hello, Cause of pelvic cramping could be due to kidney stones, pelvic infections, urine infections, twisted ovarian cyst or rupture of ovarian cyst, appendicitis or any other referred pain due to other organ infections. Get evaluated for all these causes to confirm the diagnosis. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar f tn HI, Right lower quadrant pain can be due to ovarian cyst or appendicitis. The intermittent nature of the pain is typical of appendicitis. However it can also be found when the ovarian cyst undergoes torsion. The fever suggests the possibility of infection. Hence it would be best to see your Doctor again. Once a correct diagnosis is made the appropriate treatment can be initiated. The answer is based on information provided.
Avatar n tn As far as I know, the most apparent symptom of appendicitis (inflammation of the appendix) is a dull pain in the stomach on the right side, that moves to severe lower right abdominal pain. http://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/digestive-diseases-appendicitis The above website explains different symptoms that could accompany appendicitis.
