Appendicitis and viral infection

Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis and viral infection

appendicitis

Avatar f tn My concern is the appendicitis was due to lymphoid hyperplasia (swollen lymph tissue) caused from a viral infection (HIV) given it occurred so soon after exposure. It seems a bit out there to consider them related however I do see it as a possibility, but was unable to find any studies to confirm.
Avatar f tn I've had abdominal pain for the last week. Some days it calms itself and isn't so bad, other days, it's constant. It's an ache that surroungs my belly button and my whole right side, upper and lower. I feel a tingling sensation as well. I have noticed a dull ache under my upper ribs, on both sides. Like a sore ache, but that usually lasts only a few minutes. I've been to the doctor and w/out tests, he says it's gastrisis.
Avatar n tn Severe cramping of the lower right abdominal cavity. Low grade fever. Took him to the hospital where it was confirmed he had appendicitis and underwent a successful laparoscopic appendectomy the following day. Released the day after (Sunday). Pain continued but not as severe and we just thought it was pain associated with the appendectomy however his fever began to rise and the pain intensified. By Tuesday evening we were back in the hospital.
Avatar n tn There are so many things that COULD be the cause of these symptoms including a viral infection. pelvic inflammatory disease, appendicitis, ectopic pregnancy-pregnancy in the tube, endometrisos etc. You will probably need blood work and possible radiology exams to determine the cause. I recommend you seeing your doctor ASAP to get the answers you are searching for. I Hope You Feel Better Soon.
Avatar f tn I went to the doc after 5 days. He said its just viral gastroenteritis. I looked up the condition and it says you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, but i have neither. I am worried it is appendicitis, but the appendix is on the right side, not left. I am really in pain but i am taking my meds as described. Does this sound like viral gastroenteritis to you? I am in such severe pain just laying here typing this and barely moving.. Please help. Thank you.
Avatar f tn As soon as she left the bedside, I told my ex I still thought it was appendicitis. The surgeon got there and heard the story, saw the white count, and examined him. He said it was gangrenous appendicitis and started an IV. Then after 6 hours or something he took out his appendix. So yeah, it can be confusing sometimes. The thing they most often confuse it with is diverticulitis. That can be even worse than appendicitis though.
Avatar n tn If the count is more than this the cause is usually due to an acute infection like rheumatic fever, appendicitis etc. if this count is less it is indicative of a viral infection like hepatitis, influenza etc. Raised eosinophil count may be due to bronchial asthma, hepatitis etc. Hyponatremia needs to be investigated and appropriately corrected. Take care.
Avatar m tn If pulse is more than 80 and blood shows high TLC counts, is suggestive of appendicitis. In case of ureter stone, urine usually shows infection and ultrasound is diagnostic, pain is usually radiating in nature. Well colon pain is colicky or dull in nature, do you have recent history of diarrhea?
Avatar n tn For the past certain months I was suffering from Fungal infection in Groin area. Last week I suffered from appendicitis and my doctor cured me by administering antibiotics. Now have a relief the inflamation is gone. But from today morning I am suffering pain in the groin area which is similar to the pain I suffered for appendicitis I wanted to know that is the pain caused by Fungal infection or medicinal reaction which was provided for appendicitis.
Avatar f tn This possibility is rare as pain of appendicitis is severe and is associated with vomitings and fever. Fourthly, Crohn’s disease can be the cause of this pain. Crohn's disease most commonly affects the last part of the small intestine, usually located in the right lower abdomen. Diagnosed by barium enemas and colonoscopy. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn I have had the same discharge during my entire pregnancy, my doc says that I am clean and no infection. I am now 28 weeks and still have the same discharge. Sometimes it even smells horrible but the doc checked it and nothing seems like an infection.
Avatar f tn No evidence of tumors, IBC and diverticulitis were ruled out. Dr. stated it was probably a viral infection and he should have full relief within two weeks of the onset. "Slightly elevated" WBC in two concurrent blood tests a year apart struck me as particularly odd. He is on no medications, is 50 years old, and in general good health. Does this occur naturally in some people? What tests should be performed if the pain has not resolved itself by next Thursday?
Avatar f tn s been having temps and diarrhea loss of appetite headaches on and off the last week and a half she gets light head and nausea and now she has as she describes it "an aching pain" in her stomach on the right side next to her bellybutton What could be causing it and what should i do
Avatar n tn He has lost 12 pounds, has been in and out of the hospital and each time is diagnosed with a viral infection. I was curious what your thoughts are in regards to the symptoms he has been experiencing. It all started after a work out at the gym. He was driving home and felt as if he was going to pass out. The drive home took 45 minutes when it should have only took 20. He said he kept getting lost.
Avatar n tn This was before x-mas, I was given Augmentin, which pretty much cleared it up, except my cough and congestion.... After x-mas The cough got worse and fevers, tongue ulcers and head and body aches came again, my Dr. said this time it's viral, so it would have run its coarse, it's been almost a month and still hasn't cleared up at all. I have Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Immune Deficiency Disorder.....What's happening????
Avatar n tn Yes, the flu and colds are spread by human to human contact, by both airborne sneezing and coughing near you and you breathe it in, and by touching mucous or spit left on surfaces and then you put your hand on it and then, say, rub your eye or maybe eat without washing your hands. It's the HIV virus and STDs that are passed through intercourse, not the cold or flu. Viruses and bacteria all invade the body differently, depends on which kind it is.
Avatar m tn For roughly the last 2 months I been told by a Dr that I was fighting a viral infection all the flu symptoms went away besides my 2 mouth ulcers and diarrhea. at first the Dr said don't worry about it but how can i not if its been 2 months and still their... I'm worried that it can be something major but who knows... I just pray to god to take my pain away since its hard for me to deal with this. please if anyone can help let me know thank you!
Avatar m tn I seen two different doctors during this viral infection and both called it a case of pharyngitis and I was given some steroids to help with the inflammation. The infection completely cleared in one week. My question is if I could have contracted oral herpes from the girl? I seen two doctors, one which would have been during the worst of the infection, and neither questioned the possibility. I don't believe the girl has any std's and surely didn't show any symptoms.
Avatar m tn He then took a screening CT in the lab and gave the report as Chronic appendicitis with 7mm thickness. Ficolith inside the appendicitis and advised to remove it whenever you feel free but not an emergency. The Gastroenterologist was not convinced and he asked me to take a Contrast enhanced CT. But the local doctor said it is not necessary and i don't have any acute episode and there is no such Chronic appendicitis.
Avatar m tn Persisting E coli infection can also cause colitis which can cause lower right abdominal pain. It can even be chronic appendicitis caused by past E coli infection or due to impacted food or any other infection. The other possibility is ulcerative colitis. Hence, a CT of abdomen may help diagnose or rule out all three causes. Parasitic gut infections like amoebiasis, E coli infection, round worm, giardiasis can also cause similar symptoms. Hence, you must get a stool test.
Avatar f tn m surprised your doctor just gave you drugs for an appendicitis-- true appendicitis almost always needs surgery. Have you had your appendix looked at since then? Ask for an ultrasound or a colonoscopy. In some really rare cases, an infected appendix can lead to infection elsewhere in your abdomen/pelvis, including muscles outside your digestive tract (which might explain the pain when running).
Avatar m tn Given that my pains are not concentrated in the right and not that intense, does it seem unlikely to ne appendicitis? Could appendix symptoms drag on this long (it's coming up for a week). The pain has got no worse and if anything seems to be improving. Also, would appendicitis symptoms usually go after eating a meal? I'm extremely anxious and worried right now. Appreciate any advice!
