1600646 tn?1297895872 It could be as simple as a pulled muscle which can be very painful especially in the intercostal regions of the ribs, but it could be anything from pulled muscle, spleen, Kidney issues (kidney stones, kidney infection, kidney calcification or even kidney failure being absolute worst case scenario) so dont be alarmed at thes but you should look for signs and symptoms like, low grade to high fever 99-101+, how many days has this been going on, does it hurt more if you press down or let go, Does it

Avatar m tn From what I have read, stones should pass in 24-48 hours, and I definitely have stones, the x-rays the ER gave me said so. But why do I still have them? My main concern is kidney failure. If gone untreated over a time period such as mine, can stones lead to kidney failure? Any knowledge of this subject would be much appreciated.
Avatar n tn Severe abdominal pain could be any number of things and some of them could be life threatening and should be treated as such. If it is appendicitis you need to be seen asap as a rupture could possibly end your life. Another very possible cause for one sided flank pain is kidney stone. While most kidney stones will pass on their own, Some can be large enough to block the flow of urine from the kidney to the ureter causing something called hudronephrosis.
Avatar m tn It seems to move around, from the appendix area to the groin, and wraps around to the back and kidney area. As well, a mix of constipation and then diahrrea. I'm really quite terrified of it being appendicitis or worse yet, peritonitis. I have seen two health professionals, one at a clinic and the other in the emergency room, both of them saying its nothing, perhaps just a pulled or strained muscle. Like said, I'm scared, and I would like some sort of reassurance or advice.
Avatar m tn You were right in suspecting appendicitis and kidney stones. Kidney stones can persist for years and cause symptoms only when they start moving. They can move, cause pain and again remain in a position for long periods of time. Similarly chronic appendicitis too can behave this way with bouts of pain, localization of infection and inflammation and a symptom free period.
Avatar m tn High concentrations of GGT are found in the liver, bile ducts, and the kidney. Hence kidney and urinary problems could be causing the high GGT level. Greater-than-normal levels of GGT may indicate: congestive heart failure , cholestasis (congestion of the bile ducts) , cirrhosis, hepatitis , liver ischemia (blood flow deficiency), liver necrosis, liver tumor, high alcohol intake, use of hepatotoxic drugs (drugs toxic to liver).

Avatar n tn If you are constantly in fetal position, you need to seek prompt medical attention to rule out appendicitis, ileitis (e.g., Crohn's), colitis, mesenteric adenitis, kidney stones, kidney infection, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cyst, ovarian torsion, ectopic pregnancy, pelvic inflammatory disease, and/or hernia.
Avatar n tn The two things that pop into my head when an older animal starts to drink excessively and urinate in the house are kidney failure and diabetes, although there can be other reasons. A trip to the vet is definitely in order ASAP. If you catch it early, kidney failure is something that an animal can live comfortable with for quite a few years, so don't panic.
Avatar n tn I went to the doctor and he said it is probably related to the PCOS. He has me on Metformin along with my Victoza. I hope it goes away soon. However, just today I realized I have my second kidney stone.
Avatar n tn I had such horrendous pain! They did a CAT scan for appendicitis and kidney stones, but came to find out I had a cyst that already ruptured and another still there. The did surgery the next morning. This can be extremely painful. GOOD LUCK!
Avatar f tn This can also be the result of diseases like diabetes mellitus and diabetes insipidus. Heart, liver and kidney failure and also certain medications cause excessive thirst. Some people with severe acidity too develop a habit of drinking water to counteract the effect of acidity. You can cut down your salt, spicy and fried food intake. Avoid too much exposure to sun. Take an antacid twice a day. Eat frequent small meals. Keep a record of the water you take—do not drink more than 8-10 glasses.
Avatar m tn One thing that I will like to say is that sometimes diagnosis of appendicitis is tough because of the position of the appendix and other conditions which may mimic appendicitis like Meckel’s diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease and kidney diseases. Moreover, other conditions which I have mentioned like irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease(Crohn’s disease) and kidney diseases also have to be excluded.
82861 tn?1333453911 If there is no infection than your dog has kidney damage or kidney failure, and you will have to treat agressively to save the kidneys by using Sub Q fluid therapy, phosphate binders if the phosphate is also elevated, kidney saving herbs such as Rehmannia 8 and more. Please write back once you have additional test results. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Lower right abdomen pain is commonly due to appendicitis. The pain, can at times come and go and not give the classic picture. Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, kidney stones, constipation, and an abscess in rectus abdominis muscle or psoas muscle can all cause lower right abdomen pain. In your case since the lymph nodes are also swollen, there is a chance that you have either a local infection, vaginitis, cervicitis etc or there is a chance of STD (is that possible?
Avatar n tn chronic involvement of appendix (many a times ultrasound misses this as the appendix in such cases is hidden behind loops of intestine and typical symptoms of appendicitis are absent), involvement of kidney and inflammation of your intestine. Lower right abdomen pain is commonly due to appendicitis. The pain, can at times come and go and not give the classic picture.
203342 tn?1328737207 The pain, can at times come and go and not give the classic picture. Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, kidney stones, constipation, ovary involvement in women, ectopic pregnancy in women, mesentry involvement, and an abscess in rectus abdominis muscle or psoas muscle can all cause lower right abdomen pain. Right flank pain is generally due to kidney stones. All the conditions mentioned above can cause pain near the hip area on the abdominal side.

Avatar f tn I lost my dog in August of 2006 from kidney failure. She was lethargic and had no appetite, so I took her to the vet. He thought she could recover with iv fluids, etc. and so she spent 4 days at the vet clinic. She didn't like other dogs or the vet, so I still feel bad that this is where she spent the last few days of her life. In the end they couldn't do anything for her so I had her put to sleep. It was a very difficult thing. I found the following website very useful.
