For treating depression there is a drug called mirtazapine (also called Zispin by one company) which having tried many different anti-depressants over the years I have found effective. It also is nowhere near as addictive as some other anti depressants or benzos (valium, xanax and all that crap). I'm not sure if it's available where you live but I can't recomend it highly enough.
Hi there.Sorry to hear that trazodone no longer work for you. You should go to your doctor and say you need your meds changed ASAP. I was on Amitriptyline for over 12 years and in the end the Bridge Centre mental health centre took me off them as I was overdosing. I used towake up in the night and take another one to get back to sleep. That's what happened with Nick Drake the folk singer. he was on Lentizol as it was called before Amitriptyline.
I jumped into the Exfexor blindly and ended up worse off. Anybody tried these Zispin at all? I was given them for total anxiety. Though I am starting to imagine doctors don't think such a thing exists. Anxiety by itself. Hence they keep handing out anti-depressants no matter what the problem is. I never mentioned depression once when seen him today and on purpose made references to symptoms of depression at all. Mentioned anxiety as often as I could.

Well i am with you i just started experiencing this anxiety stuff some weird stuff to deal with .The Doc prescribe me with zoloft and i went to the ER and they prescribe me with klonopin.I am not sure about Mirtazapine i really don't know much about any of this anxiety medicine..But i don't take meds for my anxiety i keep telling myself i will fight it on my own.So good luck to ya hun on your medicine hope it works for you...
Hi, I'm 62, was diagnosed bi-polar in 1986 and put on Lithium but not monitored properly so came off it after being sacked. Started again in 1990 and was also put on Citalopram at that time. Have been on both ever since and have been up and down like a yoyo, In 199I 8 I was diagnosed HIV positive, fired again. Put on meds, got lypodysrophy but thatit's a bit better now. Recently left husband, got fired (again), moved country so was pretty shattered and scattered, and angry.
It really helped me for a couple of years. Withdrawal was minimal. But the 2nd round I took it for a few months then weened off, the withdrawal was really bad on me. But it could have been a bad mix of anxiety on top of that.
It will make you crave sugary foods! But it will kill anxiety and depression. It made me super creative as well. Loved it while my body was agreeing with it. :)

Are you under a doctors care while you are detoxing off xanax. Mirtazapine will cause anxiety so you should talk to your doctor about it. You said you are also detoxing from tramal do you mean Tramadol? If so you should be VERY cautious as that alone could cause seizures. Do not try to go c/t of of either xanax or Tramadol without a doctors supervision. Good luck and please post and let us know how your doing.
my husband is being treated with zispin . he has gained approx 3 stone in weigh. he has been on medication for 4 years and has had no health check from our doctor during this time. i am not sure what all the side effects are but can this medication affect his sex drive?????????????
HI there! Remeron is a pretty commonly prescribed sleep aid, and I have personally seen with my patients that it works pretty well. I haven't typically seen that people require too many dosage adjustments.
As a rule, any medication used for insomnia should be temporary, simply b/c in the long run, it can make sleep issues worse. This is something you would have to discuss with your doc and weigh the risks/options.
So this morning iv put my foot down and told my doctor I knew fluoxetine was doing nothing for me like it had done 3 years ago and needed a change after persuading him and listing all the side effects I was getting he changed me to mirtazapine 30mg to be taken a night with a good drink of liquid my post really is to anyone out there have they had this change and was it better for them?
I am currently taking 10mg of buspirone 2x day and 15mg of mirtazapine for major depression and generalized anxiety. I have been feeling constantly tired, apathetic and despondent. My psychiatrist prescribed a starting dose of sertraline of 50mg/day. Since starting the sertraline again i have been suffering from physiological anxiety symptoms such as a tight throat, lump in throat, trouble swallowing and breathing, etc.
I have been on venlafaxine for 4 years and after my recent visit to the doctor she advised me to cut down for three weeks on the venlafaxine and then start on mirtazapine 15mg. In my infinite wisdom I thought I would cut down the venlafaxine in my own way and not bother with the mirtazapine. I thought what is the point of cutting out one med to go on another as I'm keen to be med free. This is now third day without any medication I feel ill.
What your doctor appears to be doing is replacing the dosage using others tablets to make the withdrawls not as bad as they would normally be. I had this done before too. With zispin. Everytime I came down a notch off the addictive tablet, the zispin was upped a notch. The dr is probably just trying to balance things out so you won't feel the come down from the xanax. You might feel something. But anxiety you can manage.
m not feeling the happy effect from them at all so hes given me fluoxetine (prozac) to take from monday as hes said from today take 75mg effexor every other day till sunday. but still carry on with my 15mg mirtazapine at night. i feel i should take both effexor and prozac together and my mirtazapine at night for at least 2 weeks then come off the effexor. what does anybody else think? or has anyone been on these meds and has any info.
Effects of sudden cessation of treatment with mirtazapine may include depression, anxiety, panic attacks, vertigo, restlessness, irritability, decreased appetite or anorexia, insomnia, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, flu-like symptoms such as allergies or pruritus, headache or migraine, and sometimes hypomania or mania.
Is there ANY hope of getting off of Xanax after 15 years of use at a dosage of 3mg per day? My psychiatrist is against it, saying I would probably have seizures even if we do a very slow taper, but I wonder if she just wants my money for office visits.
There is no mention that is ever used for anxiety, but anxiety is, unfortunately, one of the possible side effects of this med. Therapeutic levels are normally reached within 2-3 weeks. The usual adult dose is to begin at 15mg qd/hs (every day at bedtime) maintenance to continue for 6 months, titrate up to 45mg/day. Since we are not doctors on this forum, you need to get back with yours and discuss your issues concerning dosage and the anxiety.

So I'm currently taking 75mg venlafaxine and 15mg mirtazapine the mirtazapine is great doing its job for the night time anxiety it's more than enough to calm me and help me sleep the night but my concern is the venlafaxine it's causing me stomach upset and feelings of low mood iv been taking this combo since beginning of December whilst some what it has levelled me out to the state I was currently in I don't feel as tho the venlafaxine is helping anymore as Iv been on it before a
