Avatar m tn To examine Hoxb8’s effect, the researchers injected bone marrow from mice with mutant Hoxb8 mice into healthy mice. The healthy mice began licking themselves compulsively, pulling out their fur and creating sores. In turn, the researchers injected the mutant mice with healthy bone marrow, and these mice became non-obsessive.
Avatar m tn There is a test that can be used to see if the mouse carries hantavirus. I believe it's called a PCR test which uses blood, saliva, urine or feces. Unlike rabies which calls for the animal to be euthanized in order to check brain tissue, this test can be done without sacrificing the mouse. Mice can carry the virus and not show symptoms. Typically people develop flu-like symptoms within 1 - 6 weeks after exposure.
167426 tn?1254086235 They said mice given a high dose of chemotherapy after fasting thrived while half of a group of well-fed mice died, they reported in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The researchers stressed that people should not try this on their own yet but said the findings might lead to a way to use chemotherapy to more effectively kill tumors while sparing healthy cells.
1981227 tn?1336328438 I think we have talked about this stem cell treatment and the reversal in mice before but I don't remember the sugar study. Even if it is old news, it is always good to share because not everyone sees it the first time around. Thanks for passing these on.
Avatar n tn Ok I have a red tail boa and I feed him mice. I'm about a month pregnant and was wondering if its ok to handle the mice and clean out their tank? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I noticed at the end of the day that i had these baby mice all over the bottom of my boat. I must of had a mice nest in my boat and the babies must have crawled out of the various benches. My main concern is that i was exposed to rabies from possible contact with these baby mice that were all over the place. When i got to land, i flipped the boat, and noticed the mothers tail come through the bench.
Avatar m tn when they ll test on humans and show hcc cure they will have a value, a study on mice alone has very little value...
649848 tn?1534633700 Oh no, it sounds like you have quite a problem on your hands. Strange that things would start spring leaks now. Have they only recently been installed with wrong joints or have they been that way for years? For the mice - think about getting some peppermint oil and soak cottonballs with it to put around the house. I put them in glass bowls to prevent damage to any surfaces. That sure got rid of the mice in my Aunt's garage, even without sealing it up right away.
665881 tn?1248926997 and this is in mice - and mice don't get MS..... people do. Erin, I know you want to be excited about this, but there are lots of other developments that give us hope too. Don't get down waiting for a cure, ok?
Avatar m tn it was a test with a cancer drug called birinapat, it was successful in mice, but once it was done in trials with humans it created cerebal palsy. they are trying at lower doses now, studyofhope made a good explanation of what it takes to reach a cure. http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn In conclusion… Prohep was effective in reducing HCC growth significantly in mice. Th17 was likely to be the major producer of IL-17 in the tumor microenvironment that has linked to HCC growth and angiogenesis, and its decrease in tumor was probably related to the reduced recruitment from the gut via circulation.
Avatar m tn There are lots of chemicals in fresh fruit and vegetables to help combat these free radicals, keeping everything more in balance. Anti oxidants on mice in labs with VERY high fat levels in the blood showed no plaque forming. Increasing oxidants in another batch of mice caused coronary death quite quickly.
319532 tn?1250988576 12, 2009) — A new experimental treatment for multiple sclerosis (MS) completely reverses the devastating autoimmune disorder in mice, and might work exactly the same way in humans, say researchers at the Jewish General Hospital Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research and McGill University in Montreal.
Avatar m tn So to begin, I am a 17 year old male who has always had anxiety problems, but which usually only pop up when something happens, so more like being a "worry wart". The problem is, a few months ago, for some reason, I was convinced that I had been exposed to Rabies. I looked up the symptoms and what do you know? I have some of those same symptoms!
Avatar m tn She has her shots, but Im worried if I could contract it because the mouse was just recently in her mouth (Im unsure if she managed to get any of its blood in her mouth or not) Thank you for your time and patience! I appreciate you helping me!!!
Avatar m tn s disease (I told you, these little fellas have it tough). They then gave these mice doses of nicotinamide, a form of vitamin B3 found in many foods, including chicken, fish, pork, peanuts, sunflower seeds and turkey, to see if there was any improvement. The results were nothing short of amazing. The mice with Alzheimer's saw their memory improve, but get this – even the mice who didn't have Alzheimer's got a cognitive boost.
649848 tn?1534633700 t seen this evidence in detail, he could see mice had been around) and has killed about seven mice since then, and this past weekend we vacuumed and mopped and removed all places where there was mouse evidence, and I've taken our cats over and they are at the farm now. But it feels kind of grim.
Avatar n tn How can I treat my cat with ear mice?
Avatar m tn do not come into contact with the dead mice their droppings or any surfaces the mice have come in contact with. U can contact a disease called lvcm which is dangerous to an unborn baby. Have a non pregnant person dispose of the mice and their droppings and clean infected areas with bleach to kill the virus. Also winterize ur home to keep them out and call in an exterminator. Also notify ur ob u have had contact with rodents so they can monitor things.
319532 tn?1250988576 Here's a statement from another website (http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5jv6nh30O0e7ydhqQO0GGldkpxnkw)......."Strikingly, if it was given after the mice developed full-blown symptoms, lisinopril reversed their paralysis." This is the second real promising discovery i've seen in the past week or so.
Avatar f tn After giving birth to my 2nd child, I had an MRI of my lower back to help determine the cause of low back pain. It showed a bulging disc and a herniated disc at L4-L5 and L5-S1. Underwent disc decompression and that corrected this. The pain was still there. My GP determined that the little fatty "knots" in my low back were back mice and began injecting them wtih lidocaine. This gave me temporary relief. I'm still having pain and the back mice are still there.

649848 tn?1534633700 Good morning. I hope you're having a great weekend. It's been raining here - seems like it's been days and days - actually, it has been. We've had something around 11" of rain this month. Some has come in small showers and some has come in downpours of 2" or more in a short period. I hate to complain of dealing with rain, when there are parts of the country/world who desperately need it.
134578 tn?1693250592 My cat has a new hobby, carrying live mice into the house in the middle of the night. He rarely seems interested in actually killing them, acting more like he does it for entertainment purposes. This includes chasing them around (including up the blankets into our bed), stepping on them to see if they will squeak, tucking them under our bed and forgetting they are there until they move around a day later -- evidently he thinks they are unusually animated toys, certainly not dinner.
Avatar f tn My husband and I just bought a house, and were cleaning out the kitchen cupboards in anticipation of moving in. I found a few small, hard, black rice/seed-looking things in the cabinets while cleaning, and not knowing what they were at first, I had touched one. I washed my hands, swept the particles out of the cabinets and the house, and then looked it up, and found that I handled and likely inhaled dried mouse dung.
