Common Questions and Answers about Anxiety symptoms and menopause

anxiety

443862 tn?1237999439 If you still have periods then you aren't in menopause yet. The symptoms you describe including the heat, anxiety and sleeping all sound like perimenopause. You should probably see a doctor to make sure there isn't something else going on such as thyroid problems. If it's hormone related you can try different things including daily exercise.
Avatar f tn Does anybody know if their anxiety started during menopause and what you did about it?
Avatar f tn Ive already experienced what i believe is pre menopause symptoms, but could the worsening anxiety and panic attacks be part of full on menopause?
Avatar n tn I am kinda concerned and was wondering if I might be experiencing early menopause or peri-menopause too. Can you share some of the symptoms you experienced and how you knew for a fact that you were starting peri-menopause. Thanks alot!!
Avatar n tn My body tenses up and I feel restless and unable to focus. I have also developed clautrophobia and fear of being trapped in traffic or other closed in spaces. I also have depression some months and that may also get severe. I sought help, but in the process I also admitted to daily mariuanna use for 10+ years, that I see getting worse as my emotional issues grow.
Avatar f tn To combat the horrible anxiety and mood swings, I take black cohosh, evening primrose oil, magnesium citrate and chaste berry. I think it's helping but have only taken all this for 2 weeks so it may take longer to work. Does anyone have any tips for me on how they managed during this awful time?
Avatar n tn They did chest and lung X-rays my regular doctor has done blood work and everything came back fine so she said it is anxiety and put me on 10 mf of Prozac and 10 mg Singular. It has been 3 weeks and still having some difficulty breathing is that normal? I think it is getting better but then my anxiety kicks in. I have never had a problem with anxiety before. I was fine before the cold and now in this situation ever since.
Avatar f tn Hi, around 17 years ago I was diagnosed with a macro protactinoma. My prolactin level was right at 3,000. The only symptom I had was no periods. Those never returned but I was told, after blood tests, that I wasn't in early menopause. My endro and gyn came to the conclusion the reason was my hormones are permanently out of balance due to how long the tumor went unnoticed. I was put on Dostinex and within 6 months my protactin level came down to 2!
Avatar n tn From what I have read on many sites, perimenopause and menopause can cause so many symptoms other than the typical hotflashes, night sweats, etc. We all have varying degrees of hormonal changes which cause different symptoms although it is a good idea to get checked out by a doctor.
Avatar n tn I hate to mention this because of your young age, but have you been tested for menopause? It seems like you have a lot of the same symptoms I have and my menopause test came back position. It is not unheard of for someone young to start menopause. It does happen. There is a test you can buy (I bought mine online) for menopause which is just like an EPT test. I would start there to rule that out first.
Avatar f tn You and I are going thru the same thing. Ms symptoms and menopause are very much alike and it is scary. My doctor wants me to see a neurologist also for more testing. My symptoms have become more and more prominent too. I feel as though you do. I am the healthiest/lousy feeling person with everything to be thankful for but can't get my body feeling right.
18070169 tn?1463175914 Of course new pains showed up like a back ache, which I still have. But the anxiety is out of control and I figured I have been off of zolpidem long enough (38 days) that I started wondering if it had something to do with my hysterectomy. After reading peoples questions - I am wondering if that is now what I am dealing with. I am sleeping really well, but will occasionally wake up drenched in sweat. It is the day time hours that I am constantly anxious. Everything just gives me anxiety.
1445110 tn?1388209711 Does anyone else suffer with Hypthyroidism and menopause. My symptoms are so bad that at times i actually feel like I am going absolutly crazy. Some days it is just hard to functions and I am like every other mother that needs to do just the normal everyday things in life such as cooking supper and housework that seems to be such a hard thing for me to do sometimes. I have no appetite at all. The doctor put me on Lexapro for depression and anxiety which seems to make all my other symptoms worse.
Avatar f tn I went to my regular gp and I talked to him about all my tests and my irregular period and anxiety. He was very nice and anxiety can cause all kinds of havoc on your body. I was prescribed klonpin and zoloft. I'm about 70% better today. Was it really all anxiety?????
Avatar f tn I'm intrigued about being in Menopause and having Bi-polar. Symptoms of the disorder and medications I take are similar for me, as what would also be Menopause symptoms. Maybe this is why I feel like I'm not having Menopausal symptoms. Do, I'm curious of your experience if you are going through Menopause and also have Bi-polar. I would appreciate feedback and hearing others' stories.
Avatar n tn If so then i would say that your tiredness through the day would be partly due to the lack of sleep your getting at night and anxiety. I have anxiety/panic disorder and that alone makes me very tired most days. As far as the motion feeling, I have that also and was told by my Dr that was one of the many many feelings anxiety can cause. To me it always feels like i'm sea sick. Are you on medications for your anxiety ?
Avatar f tn I've not had those symptoms, but in general, my doctor's approach is to treat symptoms if they are bothersome enough to warrant doing so. Menopause is a collection of symptoms. Treating the symptoms won't "cure" menopause, but it could sure help. Have you treated your anxiety either through therapy, medicine, meditation, exercise? I hope you get relief!
Avatar f tn I’ve worked out that if I eat sugar, cream, fats, alcohol and some medication I’m ill. It lasts up to 2 days each time and symptoms are not the usual hives, sickness or diarrhoea but a hangover/morning sickness, nausea, brain fog, poisoned feeling through my veins and my eyes go yellow. I’ve ruled out : fibromyalgia, bad gut health, menopause, mental health and anxiety as I’ve tried treatments for most but no luck.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else entered menopause and completed it without any symptoms minus the obvious periods? I FINALLY went to my Dr to get a blood test to see where I was at with all this. My periods dwindled over time and it had been about 14 months since my last period when I went to my Dr. Turns out, I am post-menopausal. I've never experienced hot flashes or any other normal symptoms women get with this. If my period hadn't ceased, I would never have known.
Avatar f tn m currently trying to find a doctor that will actually listen to my symptoms and check it out....yes i do have anxiety, along with dizziness, ears ringing, eyes getting worse, IBS, poor concentration, memory getting worse, and depression that comes and goes(some days i feel like curling up and just crying and don't know why)......like i said though, thank you for letting me know that i'm not the only one that has these issues.....

1710279 tn?1314100929 I've been reading the menopause comments and I'm familiar with everyone's symptoms. Especially Jean 72253. My problems started in Aug 2011. Out of the blue I started getting very nervous, anxious and depressed. It was so bad my hands would shake uncontrollably and I cried all the time. I went to my doctor and she seem to think it was anxiety and depression from loosing my father 5 months earlier. She put me on Wellbutrin XL which seem to help for a while.
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy last year aged 45, I am getting sever anxiety and panic attacks, full blown sweats etc, my bloo dresults fsh 3.7 and lh 2.
Avatar f tn Moodiness, scary. Insomnia that is cyclic and lasts for about 3 days before I DO get a period. Anxiety. I am opposite than you though in that as I neared the point I am now (no period for 9 months -- have to get to over a year for it to be 'official' menopause), I had very heavy periods. Your cycle sounds very irregular. I personally would see your ob/gyn and get blood work done. Check out what your hormone levels are and while you are at it? Get your thyroid levels checked.
