Avatar f tn Your anxiety sounds kind of like mine. Are you an everyday worrier? Totally over analyze everything? Does your stomach stay in a constant "knot" alot? Like bad butterflies in your stomach? That's my main symptom.. and it *****. The thing with benzos like lorazapam , is that they are addictive. I have lorazapam too! And am JUST LIKE YOU it sounds like. I only take it when I REALLY need one... and I usually just take one before bed if I have too..
5093508 tn?1390543931 Does anyone have any info on natural ways to balance the neurotransmitters in the brain? With so many anti-depressant medications and anxiety meds it can be very tricky and risky to find the right one for the individual. What might work for one, may have catastrophic effects on another.
Avatar f tn If you were my patient, I would refer you FIRST to an excellent therapist who could address and treat your anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorder is a chemical imbalance in the neurotransmitters in the brain. When your neurotransmitters are out of balance at the top, it cascades down hill and everything else gets out of whack too! Once your anxiety disorder was well controlled, I would address the other symptoms.
462570 tn?1273632977 A shortage or excess of these and similar neurotransmitters are thought to be responsible for emotional disorders like anxiety, depression, ADHD, social anxiety and mood disorder. Someone who has Parkinson’s disease lacks Dopamine. This question is best suited for the specialists. It takes years of education to have a good understand of how all these work together for proper functioning.
Avatar m tn In the brain alone there are 183 different neurotransmitters. Two major neurotransmitters are serotonin and catecholamines, which includes norepinephrine, epinephrine, and dopamine. Although this is the focus of this webpage, sometimes additional neurotransmitters such as acetylcholine, histamine and GABA must be considered in a comprehensive successful program. For years it has been known in medicine that low levels of Serotonin and/or Norepinephrine can cause many diseases and illness.
Avatar f tn What is canal? As to above, there's no being for or against medication, and nobody knows the cause of anxiety but it doesn't have anything to do with "the nerves." It has to do with neurotransmitters and hormones acting in too strong a fashion, probably from miscommunication with a part of the brain called the amygdyla. What you should do is the least invasive approach that works.
994817 tn?1249738278 Well, if you think about it, when you have chest pain from anxiety, and catecholamines (adrenaline) and neurotransmitters (serotonin, gaba, etc) are likely off balancce. When your neurotransmitters aren't functioning correctly, you can experience anxiety or the flight or fight response for no apparent reason. This often raises your blood pressure, raises your pulse, raises your awareness of your surroundings, dilates your pupils, etc.
Avatar m tn does anyone know of any natural help for anxiety. My friend has anxiety and does not like taking any of the medications prescribed. She has gotten too many side effects from them. Thank you.

Avatar f tn Go to this webpage, it lists the symptoms of deficiency for all of the neurotransmitters (anxiety and depression are caused by an imbalance of one or more neurotransmitters). Tell me which one matches up the most with your symptoms, though it sounds like GABA and/or serotonin deficiency. http://www.nutritional-healing.com.au/content/articles-content.php?
Avatar f tn Just wondering if anyone has ever tried symetrin for anxiety, I just saw it on TV or is it a hoax?
Avatar m tn Heya, I was recently told by people on medhelp that the only way to recover from a chemical imbalance linked to anxiety/depression is with medication. I asked my psychiatrist and doctor this and both said anyone is capable of recovering without medication as it is not a physical issue that is causing it, rather the way you think and the things you do. Has anyone got any additional information on the issue?
Avatar n tn I suffer from depression and anxiety - is there anyone on Parnate who has ever combined it with any benzo (in my case Ativan)? I am just wondering if Parnate potentiates benzos? Thank you in advance!
Avatar f tn And considering that a person that has just detoxed from an opioid addiction is going to be severely lacking in correct levels of neurotransmitters/endorphins, depression and anxiety can often be overwhelming - driving up the desire to go back to the original drug and increasing relapse percentages. I know there is a lot of controversy over antidepressants. And I see both sides of the argument.
Avatar f tn Mainstream medicine has lost sight of the fact that nutrients in our diet are the precursors of neurotransmitters, just as nutrients make up 100% of the body. Amino acids are the precursors to every neurotransmitter, with the exception of acetylcholine." "How can you tell if your feeling of depression or the blues is a serotonin or norepinephrine problem?
Avatar f tn i can ask around because my mom has a lot of friends who have really bad anxiety that take stuff...so does my mom..she has bad anxiety. but i will do a study and ask around! if that helps....
1075109 tn?1281835691 Many believe it was invented by pharmaceutical companies to add medication when an antidepressant caused increased anxiety or mania, which is a common side effect. Better to ignore these labels and deal with whatever the real underlying problem is. Fibromyalgia is a collection of symptoms without a known cause, though there are a lot of theories, and I have mine, but it usually comes with emotional difficulty of one kind or another, usually anxiety and depression.
Avatar f tn If you lay a certain way, you may be collapsing some blood vessels in your legs, and when you get up they open up, and you get that tingling feeling. Because neurotransmitters serve more than one function, or combine with others to do other functions, they are probably the same neurotransmitters that are making you feel tired, or lack energy, effecting moods, anxiety levels etc.
Avatar f tn I know there are many questions on here regarding anxiety but I just wanted to put my personal experience out there to get some advice. i went to London yesterday for a day event and had a hotel booked for the evening with my boyfriend we started drinking at around about 12 in the afternoon and had food etc we then went to our hotel around 5ish (so that was 5 hours of drinking alcohol before the evening had started) and then carried on drinking and went out for dinner and ..
Avatar n tn I have a history of anxiety and restarted low dose prozac 4 weeks ago. For the past few weeks I have been more tired than usual but figured it was the medication. For the past 4 days I have had muscle aches in my legs and some in my arms. I also have been feeling some lightheadedness off and on. Has anyone else had these symptoms in relation to anxiety?
Avatar f tn Hi I've had ibs for 5 years now, the past two years has been great but my ibs anxiety has been through the roof. I can't sit in class without worrying, so I usually leave. And I can't stop worrying about what's going to happen next. I worry a lot. And I just need some help with working with my anxiety to calm it down a lot. It's more of a bother than anything else. I mean not being able to go eat with friends or simply watching a movie at the theater. Life is rough.
18251556 tn?1463792320 Good day, every one. For quite a while now, I have had bad social anxiety--but for no reason whatsoever! It could just be an excess amount of a certain type of hormones/chemicals being produced in my brain, but the queer part of this anxiety is that I have no regard for social norms or approval of others whatsoever. In fact, I could care less about being embarrassed or people thinking poorly of me. Yet, I still get social anxiety when facing social situations.
Avatar f tn This is a common description of the withdrawal felt by many when they quit an antidepressant or a relaxant or any drug that targets brain neurotransmitters, but not for a contraceptive, so it is odd. You might ask your doctor who put you on this drug if it has any known effects on brain neurotransmitters. It could indicate your hormones are badly messed up, however, and there are many ways to try and fix that.
Avatar n tn m surprised to hear about neurontin as a street drug. I take it for anxiety. At a low dose it seems to help, and at night I take a higher dose at night to help me sleep -- though I'd rather not take anything. It just makes me really groggy and sometimes gives me a "hangover" the next morning. It also causes wicked drymouth. Certainly not a drug I'd have any thought of abusing. At higher doses, it tends to make people slow and "dumb.
