541196 tn?1293552936 I take Lexapro for depression and anxiety. It has really helped me tremendously. I am also diabetic and take Janumet. I would like to become pregnant soon and was wondering if anyone had experience with Lexapro while pregnant/breastfeeding. Do you know if it's approved or known safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Avatar f tn s ok to take while breastfeeding, but what I read on the internet it says do not take while breastfeeding. I have a call out to the lactaction nurse but she has not called me back yet. Has anyone heard of the pill Soma and should I take this while breastfeeding? I would love to hear opions on this.
1399033 tn?1449587779 I talked to one of the other mums. She took anxiety medication while pregnant and breastfeeding. Now Her daughter has speech delay, she lacks the ability to feel. She totally can't feel pain, cold, hunger, sadness, heat....nothing. They've been to hospital many many many many times. The mother says her doctor kept giving her the medication, claiming it wouldn't harm the baby. Even while breastfeeding, she was told it was ok.
Avatar f tn Are there ANY anxiety/depression meds that are allowed to take during pregnancy?
Avatar f tn m currently breastfeeding my 9 week old baby while taking this medication for anxiety and am trying to manage the sedating effects. I have started on 50mg but am to increase to 100mg this week. My GP was not confident in saying whether I would be better to take 50mg twice daily, or 100mg once. Does anyone have any recommendations on this? I have had great success with treating my anxiety with Seroquel (IR) in the past and am really hoping that I can make it compatible with my breastfeeding.
Avatar f tn anxiety that I been dealing with forever. I have not used since I found out I was pregnant but is it fine to use while breastfeeding? Will cps take my baby? Any information would be helpful .Thanks!
Avatar f tn Are depression medications okay to take while pregnant and breastfeeding? I am 36 weeks and my babys father has just pushed me to the edge where I physically ache because Im depressed. I don't want to go through post partum depression but I also don't want to harm my baby..anybody here on depression medications?
11356079 tn?1421357818 If you have taken them both you know yourself they are actually very different. While breastfeeding the info is the same but valium taken while breastfeeding made my baby sleep deeply and have episodes of apnea which is definitely not safe but xanax never seemed to bother her. I save all unused medicine in my medicine cabinet just incase I need it.
13042940 tn?1437395956 To the person who recommended medication -- not a good idea when you're breastfeeding. Don't want to feed the little ones these medications.
Avatar m tn Im on this anxiety medication im wondering if it will make me better orbis just like for symptoms for the day ir somthin
5894884 tn?1386969571 I need some help. I'm currently 25w+1d and suffer severe depression and anxiety (both have been diagnosed and confirmed by doctors and psychologists). I came off medication about a year and a half-2 years ago. Since being pregnant my depression has got worse again due to my hormones being all over the place and i'm now debating going back onto medication (after talking to my doctor of course).
8924846 tn?1410572901 I was diagnosed when I was 8 with depression, anxiety, OCD and a panic disorder. My body builds up immunity to medication fast which *****. Anyways today has been bad. I've come close to hyperventalating multiple times and it's difficult to calm myself down. I woke up feeling like this. What are some ways you have found to work to calm yourself down?
1679320 tn?1306382914 Your anxiety can get worse while still on medication due to your body building up a tolerance for it. Anxiety can return once you are no longer taking the medication, and this is when you need to address the anxiety again. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn I take Zoloft and my midwife has been fine with it and I was on it while breastfeeding my first and will stay on it while breastfeeding this one as well
7552207 tn?1427020403 So I have sever depression and ADHD. I stopped all my medication during my pregnancy just because there is no 100% safe medicine to take while pregnant. And for the most part I can cope with my ADHD, but my depression is absolutely terrible...so my question: After baby is here, will I be able to take my depression medicine and breast feed? I have my heart set on breast feeding and I feel selfish if I cant just because of my own reasons...
Avatar f tn I would advise against it bc it does cross the breast milk. However if your doctor thinks the benefits outweigh the risks and you really feel you need it then it's up to you. You can always talk to your doctor about other medications that aren't as severe. I'm actually suppose to be on medication but I am not atm bc of the pregnancy and have decided to formula feed so I can go back on them. Good luck hun, it'll all work out, just talk to your doc.
1394262 tn?1369625192 Hi anyone taking anxiety medication & trying to conceive? I am trying to conceive & am dealing with my anxiety issue at the same time. I am thinking if I should see a psychiatrist for help. I will appreciate it if you could share with me if you are suffering from any side effect from anxiety medication or not. Thanks.
Avatar f tn So before I was pregnant I had extreme anxiety, and was on and off medication. Didnt really like the effects - I was either a mindless zombie, or super nice and happy. And for the first 2 trimesters my anxiety had been pretty low. But, now I'm 35 weeks and the anxiety is so bad. I get it for big things, small things, or i'll even just be sitting watching tv and get hit with a huge wave of anxiety for no reason. I've started scratching my self..
Avatar n tn Also my psychiatrist told me alot of people who suffer from anxiety/depression will think the medication is making them worse because the are already struggling with anxiety/depression. However, some medications just don't work for people, or cause side effects such as fatigue. I was on lexapro 10mg for a year, then stopped, and started to take it again for a little over a month and it no longer worked for my anxiety. So I slowly weaned off the lexapro and switched to cymbalta.
Avatar f tn That's something I would definitely ask your doc about, and maybe your pediatrician. Some people are really against the thought of using this method- but if you're planning on breastfeeding it may help with the withdrawal symptoms for the little one. Your dosage isn't particularly high, but it is a medication known to cause withdrawal in adults- so I can only imagine it would cause some discomfort for the baby.
