Distraction is a big weapon for withdrawal and
for pain
management. The more you focus on your pain, the higher your
anxiety levels go. The worse your anxiety becomes, the more your body tenses up. The more tense you are, the worst your pain will be. It doesn't matter what you use for distraction - reading, watching a movie, praying, meditation, conscious relaxation - just try it. Like any other activity, distraction is a skill that improves with effort and practice. Hang in there!
