Common Questions and Answers about Anxiety disorder nos symptoms

anxiety

Avatar f tn ve had symptoms that could fall under acute stress disorder, panic disorder, general anxiety disorder, and depression. Sometimes the symptoms can fit in one catagory and then switch over to a different catagory. For example, in the past I've had frequent panic attacks throughout the day. Overtime, I've found triggers (more trivial than life threatening) for some while others just happen. Majority of the symptoms began after 2 years of profound stress.

5757880 tn?1395578022 Yes, sensory integration disorder is a separate diagnosis from PDD, aspergers and autism. People can have one without the other or they can have both. But sensory symptoms are considered common with autism but not an actual symptom to diagnose. I wish you much success with your son as I'm sure it is hard. My own son was diagnosed at 4 with sensory integration disorder.

Avatar n tn The NOS means not otherwise specified. It means you have symptoms but don't fit into any one specific category. Sometimes this is used while the psychiatrist gets to know you and a more specific diagnosis is made. Hope this helps.

This disorder is also on the autism spectrum but is often a higher functioning form of autism than Asperger's. I might suggest you google the phrase "PDD NOS" or the full term "pervasive developmental disorder" to see if the description of behaviours is similar to those of your son.
Avatar f tn i was about your age when i started experiencing my symptoms of anxiety and bipolar disorder. its great that you are noticing it at want to do something about it. there are adults that wait a lifetime to do anything about it or they don't realize whats going on until its too late. also i recommend finding a good therapist as well they go hand in hand. youll need therapy and medication. that's what im doing and its the best option and most people do that. Goodluck!

Avatar n tn My 8 year old son has been diagnosis with PDD-NOS. His emotions are extreme from overly happy to violent tantrums. The past six months he seems to be angry most of the time. Will make comments to "kill him" or "he will kill himself." He will also threaten to stab or kill others when he is upset. At first I thought it was just a faze and he was trying to get me upset when he is upset but it seems to be getting progressively worse.
