Avatar f tn When my anxiety first appeared it was going through a line at the grocery store. I remember thinking how am I ever going to sign my name? Well I chickened out and fleed the store instead with all my groceries behind me.It scared me to death!! . My son was a little boy back then and said "Mommy, why are you leaving the groceries behind? I couldn't explain why. That's when I went to the doc and he prescribed Xanax for me and it worked. You say Xanax doesn't work for you?
Avatar m tn I've developed an anxiety disorder, from a big panic attack about a year ago on weed. I never had any anxiety before this and am starting counseling tomorrow at my school. You think there's a chance I can recover from this without any medication? I have been getting lots of head shaking/nervousness/edgyness in social situations. Thanks.
Avatar m tn Sounds like you are having panic attacks. Have you consulted your phsyician yet?
396099 tn?1216254986 Increase your intake of carbohydrates. Carbohydrate-rich meals and snacks are thought to increase the amount of serotonin in your brain, which has a calming effect. Eat frequent small meals during the day. Going too long between meals or skipping meals can result in low blood sugar, which can cause trembling, nervousness and irritability. Also, eat more complex carbohydrates (starches) and fewer simple carbohydrates (sugars).
Avatar f tn I have a question. I was diagnosed years ago with Generalized Anxiety Disorder with Anxiety Attacks and Agoraphobia. I had a discussion tonight with a friend who keeps saying I do it to myself. I have had this along with a diagnosis of ADD as well as Bipolar 2 and then Clinical Depression. I was wondering if Anxiety is really something that can be controlled by the mind or if it really does need to be treated with medication?
Avatar f tn For most of my adult life, I've been on a weight loss & gain yoyo w/ a BMI of 25 to 30. When I set my mind to it, I lose weight healthily (1-2lbs/wk) via weight watchers, but I constantly feel starved & eventually fall off the wagon. I've always (for as long as my memories go back) been inflicted w/ a consistent & persistent large appetite for mostly healthy foods (just too much of them). I previously combated that w/ regular vigorous exercise 30-90 min/day.

Avatar f tn Zoloft is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Lexapro is used to treat anxiety and major depressive disorder. As you can see Zoloft is used to treat OCD whereas Lesapro is used to treat anxiety, so that is why your doctor recommended trying Zoloft. You can give it a try and if it is ineffective, talk with your doctor about alternatives.
Avatar n tn Diet pills don't work unless you change lifestyle. That be to eat healthier. Healthy nutrition should be the main goal, not weightloss. By focusing on that, we could all save us some problems. My answer is: Diet pills are all about the money. 30-day trials work but only because the initial weightloss experienced are fluids. The safest way to loose weight is to add some physical activity to the day (3 work-out sessions over a week's time) and to get steady on meals. So....

SO many of us here have been through exactly what you have been through. Let me try to address some of the info that is in your post. For one, you said you've gone to a bunch of doctors. Avatar f tn In the beginning I went to a psychiatrist who assessed me of having a borderline personality disorder and emotional instability. I took many pills during the treatment such as Dianxit and Cipralex which didn't work on me, then Afeksin, Faverin, Sedoxil and Nodiril. However, I was not getting better. Around December I changed my psyschiatrist and he told me that all I had was Anxiety only.

Avatar f tn Social Anxiety Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Agoraphobia.... to list a few. So, there are many solutions too. I will go over the most important of them. 1. FOOD! Diet is the single most important treatment for anxiety disorders. In particular, you have to cut out excess carbohydrates in your diet. In people with anxiety disorder, empty carbohydrates are a slow poison that puts you at risk of developing major life ending diseases.
Avatar n tn He was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder but very mild. Other than that, he is fine. Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn Anxiety can have many health problems associated with it. You may be suffering from something like generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, or social anxiety. You could also have overactive adrenal glands. I suggest you see a doctor about it. Diet can also play a role in it. You might have a vitamin or mineral deficiency. Ask your doctor for a blood test to see and then adjust your diet if you do have deficiencies. Some foods are known to promote relaxation and relieve anxiety.
Avatar n tn Whether you have generalized anxiety or social anxiety or garden variety anxiety can only be diagnosed by a doctor.........and at the young age of 13, (even tho it's obvious you are mature for your age) your hormones are kicking into high gear and that can sometimes bring on anxiety. I would urge you to talk to your parents about these feelings and I believe a talk with your doctor is in order. You do not have to feel this way.
Avatar n tn Given the absence of a diagnosis of a cardiac or endocrine problem, yes, it does sound like anxiety.
