Avatar n tn If the same doctor prescribed both these medications for you, then you can trust it's safe to take them together.......but you must read the labels! Sometimes "together" doesn't mean "at the same time." Some meds need to be taken with food and some on an empty stomach, some in the morning and some at night. If you have any questions about how to take these meds, call your doctor or pharmacist for the correct dosing schedule.
Avatar n tn Hi, a few months ago i started having tongue cramps when i was nervous or anxious, such as during public speaking, however my cramps have started happening more often. They are often accompanied with slight lip twitches or 'grimmacing', and usually happen when i'm talking to people. I have recently moved to university which has been fairly stressful and was wondering if this could cause it?
Avatar n tn Hello, Your symptoms are suggestive of agoraphobia or panic attacks. Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder, often precipitated by the fear of having a panic attack in a public or unfamiliar place. I sincerely advise you to consult a psychiatrist and discuss this with him.Treatment of agoraphobia includes graduated exposure therapy combined with cognitive therapy and sometimes anti-anxiety or antidepressant medications.
Avatar f tn many people have a fear of public speaking. And remember anxiety and panic can come at the most inoppertune times even if we have previously been through the exact same experience panic free time after time. I also agree that you should not expect perfection and not be too hard on yourself. Just the fact that you get up there is something that you should give yourself credit for; that is no easy feat to accomplish in my opinion. Do you have other social situations that you get anxious in?
Avatar f tn Will taking a small amount of Xanax help with calming nerves for public speaking? Taking a small amount like 0.25 ?
1422823 tn?1287679280 Does anyone here have anxiety or panic attacks when certain symptoms come about? A few years ago, I passed out while being out with some friends. Went to the ER, cause unknown (of course). Ever since then it seems like the moment I start feeling dizzy or light headed, which is every day now, I think I am having what may be a panic attack. I start to feel like I have tremors, my heart races and the dizziness gets worse.
Avatar m tn I dont avoid engaging in public speaking,i try speaking in public the least chance i get but very short statements.I did some few reading about beta blockers and i saw that it help relieve anxiety . i once complained to my Dr but He says is nothing to worry about.I was given vitamin B6 and Magnesium combined for tremors. If Beta blockers help with anxiety why does my heart races, voice and hand still shake in public activities like speaking and suturing infront of my classmates.
Avatar m tn There are self-help books available that will teach you many tips and tricks to deal with this anxiety. If possible, take a Public Speaking class.........I did and it was the best thing I'd done for myself at that time. I still got some anxiety beforehand, but I had learned so many ways to deal with it, believe it or not, public speaking actually became fun. One of the most important things I learned was to be totally prepared.
Avatar m tn In my job I have to do a fair amount of public speaking, so dry mouth is a problem.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with anxiety my junior yr of college. I had couple panic attacks in one week (it was during finals). I could not go to class, was avoiding public places due to the fear of panic attacks. I was put on clonopin and lexapro. I slept a lot, the meds helped; but i still did not feel like normal me. After couple months, instead of clonopin I was put on xanax and i had to take it everytime I felt anxious.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder about two years ago. On average, I have about 4 anxiety attacks a week, on my medication. It seems as if my anxiety is getting worse due to the fact of my fear of the dark is getting worse. I can hardy sleep because I am so afraid of the dark now. I can lay in bed, cuddling with my boyfriend and be fine. However, if he were sitting beside me in the dark, I can't handle it. I can not handle the dark. I want this fear to go away.
Avatar f tn Hi all - new here. Just curious if anyone else has serious speaking problems (along with everything else?). I stutter and get confused on my words...
Avatar f tn I am a graduate student. I have a fear of public speaking and a stage/performance fear when I speak in front of new people or students of my class. A few of my classes require that I give powerpoint presentations in front of the class. When I am on the spot, my voice and hands become shaky - I sometimes lose concentration to the point that I cannot get words out of my mouth even though I go in front of the class very well prepared.
Avatar f tn First I'm a male 21 years old and live in Garden Grove California. I have anxiety, I haven't seen a doctor and been diagnosed but I've quite had a few panic attacks, also for about 2 or 3 months I couldn't leave the house. My dad has anxiety as well and although he kind of got it he didn't at the same time. I got an anxiety workbook which had a section on some other things including OCD and depression. In the check for depression I showed 7 of the 9 signs for it.
Avatar f tn I am 42 and am known to have panic attacks only when I have a public speaking event. This is so embarasing but I have tried everything and still can't manage to gain control of my body shaking uncontrollably, palms and feet sweating and my voice cracking to pieces. I am too old for this! Can anybody help me? Am I having panic attacks in my sleep now?
1322152 tn?1282507546 s are very good not only for depression but for social phobia, panic attacks, general anxiety and OCD as well as several other anxiety disorders. Depending on the person they can take anything from a couple of weeks to a month or so to take full effect but for most people once they have settled into the system a big improvement is seen. Im sure the doctor will choose a suitable SSRI for you seeing as you are still young.
Avatar m tn I've been suffering from anxiety for many years now. I'm on Xanax and Aurorix. l take 0.125 Xanax only at night and 150 mg of Aurorix twice a day. This is after the discussion with my doctor. My anxiety is very much controlled. However, my anxiety becomes very bad when I become the center of attention. I dread public speaking but it can't be avoided sometimes. Do people with anxiety disorder dread the same thing as I do? Is it because I'm taking too little dose of Xanax?
Avatar f tn First, don't take this if you're on medication targeting serotonin receptors, such as an ssri or snri. Assuming you're not on medication, the answer is, maybe, maybe not. The same answer you'd get if you went on medication. Sometimes things work, sometimes they don't. Second, 5-HTP isn't a vitamin -- it's an amino acid, a metabolite of L-tryptophan, which along with co-factors such as B6 (which is a vitamin) us used by the body to manufacture serotonin.
900948 tn?1242022037 i just can't stand my anxiety attacks anymore...i get them on a daily basis even without thinking about it...it has put a pause into my life...feel very abnormal...can't do the normal things a mother does with her children...sometimes the xanax doesn't even relief my attacks...when will this go away...i feel like i can't take another attack...and like i said they come daily...i try to relax myself and it doesn't seem to work...
Avatar m tn You are most definitely not alone in your fear of public speaking. If I'm not mistaken, I think it's at the top of the list for people's worst fears. If I get called upon to speak to a group of people, I can feel my face turn beet red, I start to sweat like a hog with no waller to wallow in, I KNOW I'm about to wet my knickers and I shake like I've got ants in my pants, which would be my wet knickers!
Avatar f tn The anxiety would be racing heart before meetings or public speaking and then turned into anxiety at times to eat . I couldn’t sit in a restaurant or I would start panicking . Never mind eating food that was not happening . I had to focus on swollening and that is not the way to eat . Anyways the anxiety has subsided a bit with positive thinking and just moving on with my day .
6866231 tn?1385634141 I'm sorry you're going through this! First of all, good for you for seeking help. There's a lot of good help out there, and it takes a lot of courage to ask for it. Can someone drive you/go with you? Maybe having that company & support would help. Self-coaching is huge when working through anxiety. The enormity of what if's can be so overwhelming. When I'm struggling, I break things down into the smallest increments and tasks.
Avatar n tn if there are people speaking they will suddenly be speaking very fast, if I try to speak it will seem like I will be speaking fast, if I try to walk it will seem like I am running. Things become loud, I can hear a pin drop, it seems like anyway... I have shortness of breath. Is this normal or am I the only person that has this issue with time? It is just so scary. I take Trileptal and the episodes have gotten a lot better.
Avatar f tn Being induced tomorrow morning and getting bad panic attacks. Whats your stories?
