Common Questions and Answers about Anxiety attacks perimenopause

anxiety

Avatar n tn So, give yourself a break, this can be a tough time for you. I charted my cycle with my anxiety attacks and it became blatantly obvious there was a correlation. I charted everything. When I had a panic attack, and the level from 1 - 10. My menstrual cycle, what other stressors were in my life and I put it on a monthly chart that I could show my psychiatrist. It made everything very clear and easy to see where my anxiety came from and how we could work to resolve it.
Avatar f tn I was given xanax by my doctor for anxiety attacks which I started having due to perimenopause. My attacks were coming even in my sleep. I was taking 0.5 mg. prn. But I couldn't tell if my anxiety was becoming worse because I was dependent on the xanax or because of what caused it in the first place. I am convinced now that I have become dependent on the xanax. Ive tried not to take it, but I feel like Im going to die, or have a siezure or something. Went to see my doctor yesterday.
Avatar n tn I am able to manage the anxiety and hardly ever get panic attacks or anxiety anymore. Check out www.panicportal.com Hope this helps.......take care and good luck.
Avatar f tn I take it for panic attacks. I heard low estrogen levels can cause migraines, anxiety and night sweats. Do they do check this in a regular blood test? I'm not sure I have ever had this checked out. I had everything else checked...I am just so fed up with this I don't nkow what to do anymore. What medications has anyone been on to help them with this?
Avatar f tn Ive already experienced what i believe is pre menopause symptoms, but could the worsening anxiety and panic attacks be part of full on menopause?
Avatar f tn It sounds like your problem is anxiety, not depression. If it triggers on perimenopause, (or even if it does not), I suggest: talk therapy (why are you so anxious at upcoming menopause, etc.), exercise (works better than anti-anxiety meds), and a medication (if you need to go there) that is for anxiety alone.

Avatar f tn m most probably in a perimenopause too. I have bad anxiety since few months, not thoughts, but feelings in the body with fast heart beat. I have soreness and burning in the chest and in the both breasts too. EKG is normal. I have very low progesteron, hypothyroidism and maybe prolactinoma ( diagnosi isn't clear). But I didn't have this symptoms before, even not in the state of not treated hypothyroidism.
443862 tn?1237999439 Hi all, so supposedly I'm in menopause. But because I also have anxiety attacks I never know if the hot flashes and tingling are menopause or anxiety..well, if there is not associated panic with them, then they are menopause. Today I am sweating all day even behind my knees! off and on throughout the day inside in an air conditioned house!
Avatar n tn Four years ago began having panic attacks-one occurred during visit with GYN. I was place on low dose niravan for anxiety. I was prescribed Lexapro for mood and maxalt for headache by PCP ( have been on numerous triptans for the last ten years for good control) When my perimenopausal symptoms began to increase hot flashes, sleep difficulties and mood, I was placed on Yaz. It has overall been great. Controlled by anxiety except for right before menses.
594293 tn?1222655980 s the majority of it. It had not even occurred to me that it could be perimenopause until a few weeks ago. I went for blood work yesterday so I won't hear results until next week. I have made some changes such as changing to decaf coffee (and only drinking a fraction of what I used to), trying to eat healthy, etc. I would like some suggestions to help with the lightheadedness and jitteryness/nervousness though as these can be hard to deal with as many of you already know!
Avatar f tn I feel frequent anxiety and depression, racing heart, palpitations, foggy brained, trouble concentrating, panic attacks which results in high BP spikes and tachycardia. I have tried different antidepressants (Zoloft, Amitriptyline, Lexapro) but cannot tolerate them even at the most tiny dose. I have been put on beta-blockers for anxiety, which helps slow the heart rate but not always reduce the BP spikes. I also have a history of multinodular goiter.
Avatar f tn Anxiety can indeed be a "symptom" of perimenopause, and is, actually, very common. During this time, our hormones are beginning to get a bit out of whack, and often times, anxiety is the result. Your OB/GYN can tell you, with a simple blood test, if you are starting perimenopause. This would be an excellent time to discuss the symptoms you are feeing and ways to deal with them. There are options out there to lessen the side effects of both perimenopause and menopause.
Avatar f tn ve also started on lybrel for irregular bleeding. Was it going off the lexapro that jump started the anxiety attacks? I'm feeling o.k. right now, and the weight lose is great - if I could enjoy it. But I would really like to never have an attack again. I really feel like I have an evil twin inside that suddenly comes out.
Avatar n tn Those do sound like classic anxiety attacks. I know. I've had it for years now. Lightheadedness, it all sounds familiar. Not saying that's what you have, but it sure rang a bell with me. Hoping you are better soon.
Avatar f tn The other possibilities are anemia, thyroid conditions and anxiety and panic attacks. Get your hormone levels, hemoglobin levels and thyroid function tests done to rule out these conditions. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn ) By the way, perimenopause is a common time for migraine attacks to start, or to change in nature. This is because hormone changes are a very common trigger for migraines (that's why women often get migraines shortly before their period). I did not even know I was a migraineur until I had visual migraine auras at age 42, at the height of perimenopause. Search on "migraine-associated vertigo" and you will find lots of info. Good luck, Nancy T.

I went to ER for the first time day before yesterday and sometimes my heartrate is slow, 50-53 at rest, but not consistently...rapid heartbeat for me is 77!
Avatar f tn I have suffered anxiety and panic attacks long before I even knew it had a name. I have been prescribed to 3 mg's of Xanax a day for 7 years and found out 2 weeks ago I was pregnant. I stopped taking my Xanax immediately after I found out, and yesterday I went to the Dr. to find out I am 6 weeks! It was easy at first to not take my medication but my brain just won't shut off and it's getting harder and harder to breathe, and was wondering if anyone knows if I can take .
